30 Chapter 30 : An assassin(3)

The young man pointed his finger at the wolf and said, "Die"

Suddenly, his index finger sparked with a dark energy. The dark energy rapidly compressed into a small ball and then was let loose. It travelled in a straight line towards the unaware wolf.

.....

A day ago, the leader of the wolf pack has just gotten its class. It couldn't read what the class name was, but it knew what it was related to. It was a class related to trickery and the skill it got was related to tricking its opponent until they were exhausted and then kill them at their weakest.

Before that, it had heard some sounds coming from this direction for the past few days, so it got here to see what it was right after getting the class. But it didn't expect to see a bunch of humans walking around midway.

Humans, the name itself, invoked a sense of hatred in its being, as it remembered how its companions were often killed by these despicable creatures in the past. However, those days were no longer and now they could once again live freely without being oppressed. But, before that they need to punish these humans, so they were determined to kill them but that too only after letting them know despair. Thus, it stayed out of the battle and let its pack charge ahead.

It just didn't expect that sometime later, two powerful humans will arrive. With the battle, it knew that they were more powerful than it itself was, thus it had to use its trump card to recover and to find an opportunity to kill these horrifying humans.

Suddenly, in the dark night, in the distant sound of battle and gunfire and as it was looking at the battle, waiting for the right opportunity, something passed through its head. It arrived without even producing the slightest of vibrations. Before it could even process what happened, its eyes became dull as its body fell to the ground. It wasn't even able to think what, how and who killed it when the two humans were still before it.

An energy orb shot out with a blinding intensity, a radiant burst of white light from the dead creature, and travelled into the young man's body. He could feel a subtle warmth as it entered his body, tingling with an otherworldly energy. The orb's color transitioned from a dazzling white to a calming hue, leaving a lingering sensation. None could see the orb except for the young man himself, since he was the one who killed the wolf.

"What? What's happening?!", said Aisha as she looked at such an abrupt and absurd sight. She was baffled.

"....."

Right after the creature died, the three wolves that were currently in a battle with Elena gradually vanished, vaporized into thin air.

'What happened?'

'Why did they vanish?'

"....."

'Could it be that the wolf ran away, and this was a distraction? But how is that possible with its pack mates still here?', Elena thought as she looked at the remaining four wolves that were more ferocious and angered than earlier. She knew that betrayal in wolf was something extremely rare unlike humans. Seeing their intense behavior and increased anger, she had a guess.

'No... Wolves never leave their pack mate alone, unless it is something serious so, could it be that...'

"it was killed? But, by who?", Elena said the last of her thought out loud that were filled with wonder. She was skeptical as she looked around to see for anyone new that could pose a danger since the wolf was killed right before her eyes and she didn't even know what, who, and how they did it.

She searched for a while and sure enough; she saw a man walking towards her.

A charming and affable young man with a neatly groomed appearance, exuding confidence and approachability with his stylish attire, vibrant blue eyes, and a warm smile.

'It seems I was right. The wolf was killed and the ones earlier were... Either illusions or clones.'

"Miss, someone's coming here. Please be careful. He seems strong. ", Aisha said to her young miss in a worried tone as she departed to save her father because he was bleeding too much. She had to do so now. If not, then he would die. She didn't earlier because the boss has ordered her to keep miss alive even if it's the last thing she does and ignore all others. She should still be with her young miss and ignore these people as said, but,

"I can't do that!"

How could she ignore someone that had treated her as his daughter for the last decade even if it was all fake? She didn't think so as she treated it as real. Even if he seemed cold and distant, at least he took care of her, when she needed care the most.....unlike others.

She knew that her young miss could protect herself and even if it was something she wasn't able to handle, then her elemental spirit could surely help her get through... at least once.

Within seconds, she arrived before the group of people and wolves. She then calmly said, "solar flare"

Sparks of flame manifested all around her body as the surrounding area, in the dark night, lightened up with its spark. Not surprised, Aisha immediately arrived before her father and then touched the body of the wolf he was fighting.

".... Hooooowwwwwll.... "

Suddenly, burns started to appear around the place, she touched the wolf at. It let out a howl filled with agony. The burns were so severe that its bones could be seen within seconds in that area. The wolf, unable to handle such a degree of agony, fell down on the ground, its leg weak after such an attack.

Ignoring the wolf, Aisha looked at the man, who was calmly watching her as she finished the wolf. She with genuine worry and care raised her hand at the man, but stopped midway. She then stared at his cold and distant eyes that were so very familiar to her.

She, against her will, dropped her hand and... didn't say anything. She then walked past him and then quickly touched the other wolves. With her speed advantage, she could easily do so. Burns appeared on all the wolves where she touched them as all of them let out the howls filled with raw pain and suffering in them.

".... Hooooowwwwwll.... "

".... Hooooowwwwwll.... "

".... Hooooowwwwwll.... "

.....

Meanwhile, before Elena was the young man. He could finally watch this beauty up close.

She was truly breathtaking, with black hair and black eyes. Her complection pale without a shed of imperfection. It was like the incarceration of beauty itself was standing before him.

She was just so very.....

"... Beautiful!"

"Sorry, did you say something?", asked Elena with a straight face. She heard it but she still ignored it because she had heard it countless times before and she knew that.... None of those were said out with genuine intentions... except one.

"Ohh, it's nothing.", replied the young man, now back to his senses from her call.

"... Were you the one who killed that wolf?", Elena asked straight to the point. Her voice was plain and flat, without any emotion in them. It was like the girl with Aisha and now were completely different person.

The young man was taken aback by her coldness, nevertheless he didn't lose his cool as he said, " Yes. I was at a distance when I heard the wolves howl. I immediately came to check and saw you guys. Initially, I didn't want to interfere, but then it seemed like you guys were struggling, so I lent my hand."

"I hope you guys don't mind.", the young man said with a smile as he observed the group behind her since previously he had totally ignored them.

Elena didn't respond to him at all. Currently, she was thinking about who this person was because there weren't many people in the world right now who were capable of killing a Lv. 3 mutated creature from a distance, since it has only been about a week from the descent of the apocalypse.

She couldn't think of anyone at all since she didn't have much info on this person. If she at least knew his class, then she could deduce who he might be.

The young man though, seeing her just standing there not saying anything at all felt a little awkward so, he tried to speak, " At a time like this where we don't know if we will live for a day more, we should live happily and make as many friends as we could."

"So..... Let's be friends.", the young man said as he looked at her with the same smile hanging on his face. He then put his hand forward for a handshake and said, " My name is Alex. Alex Williams."

Elena, who finally had her hopes high that she would know who he was? Was he a big shot of the future or a villain? Was truly disappointed when she actually heard him.

'Maybe he died before he could even unleash his potential.', she thought with slight sorrow that even the future of geniuses was uncertain.

'But, since I found him. Maybe I could recruit him into my team for the near future.", Elena thought as she felt that she has found a diamond in rough.

She finally loosened her stiff face a little and said with a slight smile as she shook his hand, "Hello Alex. My name is Elena. Elena Miller."
