21 Chapter 21: Pain that lasts forever! (2)

*slam*

*crack*

Bittu was currently up against the last of the four grey skeletons that came after him right after the previous two.

Bittu shifted his body to his right as he dodged the incoming punch at his gut. He then punched right at the skeleton's skull, killing it.

[You have killed a Lv. 2 skeleton.]

[Soul power: 75/100] -> [Soul power: 90/100]

Bittu glanced at the notifications that flashed before his eyes.

"It seems I am close to getting a new undistributed stat.", he thought as he relaxed his body.

"Status"

[Bittu sah –Lv.1

Bittu glanced at his status as he smiled bitterly. Earlier, right after filling his soul power, he had used the gained stat to raise his constitution, hoping that it would help him in his current situation, but he was wrong, so wrong. The upgrade had no effect on his condition at all!

It wasn't that his constitution wasn't upgraded, rather he felt more fit and energetic than ever before, but the pain near his stomach has not receded or even diminished; it continued to be as painful as it was in the first instance.

How was he able to figure this out? This was because he had once again felt that soul numbing pain for a small period right after upgrading his constitution. He was truly angered when he suffered that once again, but unable to do anything about it, he could only feel agitated and suffer.

He didn't get in a pinch thanks to the fact that he was careful and only upgraded his constitution after finishing the skeletons.

*sigh*

Bittu sighed once again when he remembered that his own choices were the reason behind his suffering because he was too hasty in spending his undistributed stat and had neglected the warning given to him by his first skill. He was too focused on having an unbreakable defence.

That's right–he now knew what had caused that discomfort when he was planning to spend that stat in his spirit. Previously, he wasn't able to guess it at all, unable to come up with any answer about what mistake he made to suffer that soul tearing pain Bittu left it to think about later and he moved to another question; to understand his skills and he found something interesting.

It wasn't until he saw these notifications that he remembered that discomfort before that it was as if his memories of that feeling were nothing but a lie. This lead him to a single conclusion.

"... Too powerful.", Bittu wasn't exaggerating when he said that because he truly felt how broken this skill was.

"To even tell me what choice I make will result me being at a disadvantage.", Bittu shook his head at even the thought of what this skill was capable of. But this wasn't what he concluded or figured out.

"But.... "

"No meal is free in this world.", Bittu said out loud as he raised his head with his eyes closed. He didn't want to be naïve anymore and believe whatever he saw or heard and directed by the things that were before his eyes.

"Everything, when I say this, I literally mean each and everything in this world has two sides. So does this skill."

"... I just need to find out what that is.", Bittu thought with seriousness. Before, he was truly naïve to go along with this skill believing that he had lucked out on it but, what if?

"What if?.....", Bittu didn't continue because there were many questions that could be added after this and right now he sadly didn't have the answers to any single of these questions.

"Forget it. I will think about it when I have the time. ", Bittu said out loud with a poker face as he glanced at the eight grey skeletons coming his way.

Bittu didn't wait for them, but raced towards them. He wanted to finish this as quickly as possible so that he could save the little mana in his body because if his guess was correct, his next opponent will be dangerous, very dangerous and as a matter of fact it truly was.

His plan was to save the last one until he felt that it was enough time to recover his mana and then finish it.

"Now, this is what I should have been doing from the beginning.", Bittu thought as he reflected on his past carelessness. It wasn't that suddenly he had become smart, but rather, he was beginning to be cautious and that was because of a single thought that sent chills down his spine as goosebumps refused to leave his body even after a full minute.

'My memories were erased.'

This thought had truly made Bittu change his approach as to how he should deal with everything from now on. His memories were erased, and he was ignorant of this fact until he saw the skills effect.

This time he was lucky, but what about the next or after that, will be always be this lucky? What if the next time whoever it was wiped something important, something precious to him from his memories while he was unaware of this fact?

Fear!

Fear filled his heart at this thought. But his next thought filled fear to the brim within his very soul. "What if his memories were wiped by that very being?"

He might have been paranoid when he had this thought, but what if this was true? Right now, he had no idea about who he was, much less who his friends or his enemies were.

Bittu shuddered at the very thought even at this moment, which resulted in him taking a hit right at his chest, moving his body ever so slightly to change the target of the punch from between his chest and stomach.

*slam*

He slammed right on the dudgeon's wall.

He could quickly calm down and not lose himself in despair this time around because of the trait; cold had finally shown an actual effect on Bittu. His thoughts that would easily scatter whenever he goes through something serious rather than fightback, were now thrown out of his mind like a trash bag to a bin.

Bittu was no longer vulnerable till the point of being fragile. Right now, he could now take in a more severe emotional impact and still be fine.

While reflecting, those weren't the only things that he came to know. He also found out that currently he had a fatal flaw, a weakness such that it could end his life at any instance if his enemies were wise enough to figure it out.

And that was; the area that was acting as a border right between his zombie self and human self!

He could only find this out after experimenting with himself a little. He had flicked at the border a few times and each time he had felt that feeling of thousands of ants biting him thus he was sure that if it was stimulated enough then his body would be paralyzed and he would be killed thus, he was now always conscious about this area.

Bittu got up as he focused on the skeleton before him. Suddenly, a new status flashed before him.

[Skeleton–Lv. 2

Strength-> F

Agility-> F

Stamina-> ∞

Constitution-> F

Perception-> G

Spirit-> G

Description : An ancient being that was awakened from its slumber because of an intruder.]

This was also something that he found out while checking his skills. This was a quick fruit of his investigation. He now knew how to use his ability; The tomb. He needed to activate the ability while gazing intensely at the being he wanted the information on seeing their status.

He didn't know what happens during the period it takes for the skill to activate, or how it actually does, but he was happy with just being able to compare his status with his opponent, because this gives him an edge against them. Though he had his guesses which was.

"Mana!"

"It surely works with mana. It just that I can't figure out how?", Bittu thought as he kicked the skull of the second last skeleton. Suddenly, a white orb of light came out of the dead skeleton and entered his body. The warmth from the spread over his body as a new notification flashed before him.

[Soul power: 6/200] -> [Soul power: 7/200]

"It's really slow now that I have leveled up.", Bittu thought with slight annoyance as he gazed at the notifications from a little while earlier.

[soul power : 100 /100] -> [soul power : 0/200]

[Congratulations, you have gained enough soul power. You have been promoted to Lv. 2]

[ You gain two undistributed stat. ]

Before Bittu could continue his thoughts, he had to dodge to his left from the incoming side punch and do a back flip to make some distance. He landed a little distance away from the skeleton with a consecutive back flip.

Just like that, Bittu dodged the skeleton as he thought., 'Next, what should I invest these two stats in?'

He was currently in a dilemma as to what he should upgrade. If it was before that, even he would have used them in his spirit stat with his eyes closed, but now he obviously couldn't, or rather he wouldn't.

"This stat is more than what meets the eye. Let's leave it for later.", Bittu thought with cautious. He then glanced at the other stats in the status and still could not come up with the best choice.

".... Sigh.... Since I can't, let's just put one in the agility stat, so that if things go South at least I could save my life.", Bittu thought, now resigned to fate.

" But before that, let's take care of this thing.", Bittu thought as he looked at the approaching skeleton.

Not giving any opening to exploit, Bittu used the momentum gathered by the skeleton against him as he side-stepped and caught the hand of the skeleton and with just a bit of force raised him in the air and with a semicircle in midair, slammed him hard on the dungeon floor.

[You have killed a Lv. 2 skeleton.]

"Now then, let's upgrade it fast before they arrive," Bittu spoke in a hurried voice.

[You have used an undistributed stat. Agility : F -> E]
