Morning Kiss

"W-w-wait... Are you?" I stuttered as I staggered backwards.

I do love him but if he's under the influence, then the man flirting with me can be considered unconscious of his action... right? Or am I confusing myself with alcohol?

Regardless, am I taking things too literal? Am I turning this into a complicated matter? Should I just accept all that because it's still him...?

No! What if he just sees me as a walking prey? It could happen to anyone and I just happen to be the one he preyed on?

Wystan leaned in closer, with that seductive smile attached to his face. I wasn't even joking when I say I wanted to let him drown me with that. The more I moved backwards, the bolder he became. What is wrong with you, Wystan?!

As I fear for me... Well, it's not like I fear for my life per se. He IS my legally wedded husband after all. Would I dare say worry for my chastity? Hmm... It is a mixed reaction. Why should I worry if he was the one I love? What exactly was I afraid of?

In that case, let's put a test to it. If I were to mirror what he's doing, what reaction would he show? I regained my composure and kneeled towards him. I stood close enough for us to exchange warm breaths. My eyes smiled, slightly unable to believe what I was doing but at the same time cringing ecstatically for daring to do so. I purposely let my wet bottom lip banged against his top lip, put on my seductive voice and whispered, "So what is it, my King? Are you... intoxicated?"

The priceless look he put on was worth a thousand pictures. If only there was a picture, that is. He gulped and now it was his turn to stutter. "M-m-maybe. Are you?"

Wahahaha! Served you right for teasing me, you!

"No. Why would I be?"

He tilted his head back and I took it that he admitted defeat.

Woohoo!! Farah - ONE! Wystan - ZERO! I need to celebrate this later! Away from his stray eyes.

Wystan twitched from his seat and legged it to the kitchen sink to wash his face. And I? I proudly put on my smug grin.

Right after we had our breakfast in awkwardness, we sat down on the sofa and watched the telly. I could not focus on what was on because the previous incident still bugged me and I would love to get to the bottom of it.

I did not realise I had been gawking at him until I saw his pupil was looking at me from the very corner.

"Say it."

"You sure?"

"Yes."

"Will you promise to give me nothing but the truth?"

"I'll try."

I cleared my throat as an excuse to give courage to myself.

"What happened back then? Were you truly under the influence?"

"I doubt it."

"So the action just now. Was it ... sincere or a ploy to get something?"

He raised his shoulders, letting me do all the assumptions

"Heeeey... You promised to answer."

"I never did."

"It's not those beings, is it? Could it be possible they slipped in?"

"No. Unlike the Palace, this place is highly guarded."

Weird.

"Is this place of significant value?" Than the Palace is what I would want to elaborate but I held my tongue.

"Yes. Not even those measly dust of creatures could sneak in without being annihilated."

"How come?"

"How come this place is more protected than the Palace...?"

I bobbed my head with eagerness to know its history. I was caught unguarded when he messed with my hair.

"Sometimes, little Princess, some things are best left unknown and unsaid."

I was about to playfully snarl at the comment 'little Princess' but his vacant gaze and those dreadful smile he wore affected me more than it intended to. As though I could feel myself drawn into his world of uncertainties that shied him away from society. Surely there's a justification for what was happening with his life?

My hand placed on top of his, hoping it would send solace in moments of darkness. Only comfort and assurance is all I could offer, to let him know that he is no longer alone. That his life, OUR life, was moving forward together and the past is just a past that's worth keeping in a safe. To be opened once in a while for memory's sake.

I waited patiently for him to 'return' since it was technically my callous words that 'sent' him away in the first place. As I kneeled beside him to give a consoling hug, I stroke his wonderful blonde, planting pecks once in a while in hopes it would cheer him up. He caressed my back to let me know he was fine.

It must have been a good solid ten to fifteen minutes we stayed in that position until we exchanged gazes. Perhaps it was the leftover feelings from sharing the same bed last night? Perhaps it was the lack of sleep or his forward advances? Or maybe it was simply our connection right then and there. Regardless of the reasons, something definitely stirred within us that morning as we both drew closer and closer towards each other. My arms were already wrapped around his neck and his around my waist.

With mutual consent and silent understanding, we tasted each other's lips.
