Chapter 28: Guild Master

After we reached Fuhren we parted ways from More with a previously stated gold, which truth be told I had forgotten about. Still, I took the money.

While we were walking through the road, we came across a restaurant. Seeing the people serving delicious food to their customers I felt hungry.

I asked Hajime and others if they were hungry to which everyone nodded and then we took a table of four and sat there waiting for someone to take our order.

"..."

All the while we were eating and chatting. I sensed many glances some were curious, others were intrigued, but one, in particular, was very malicious. And it was coming from behind me.

I then discreetly looked back to where it was coming from. There I found a fat man with noble clothing whose expression looked on the verge of drooling and near him a clocked guy standing beside him.

Hajime noticed my odd movements while eating and looked behind me, where my attention was on the fat guy and the look the fat guy was giving, he understood the situation.

I just at the time straightened up to continue my lunch. I then noticed Hajime was also looking at the fat guy, then our gaze met and he sent me a telepathic link and asked, [what will you do]. In my response, I said [nothing yet, not until he makes a move].

We then both focused back on the food. While Hajime and I were talking both Shea and Yue were enjoying the food ignoring all the stares people were giving them.

Just when we were about to finish eating, we heard a voice calling out to us.

"O-oi you brats! I will give you a million Luta. So, hand over the r-rabbit girl, and I will make tha-that blondie my concubine. Co-come with me".

The fat guy said while drooling and huffing with a lecherous gaze.

To him, I responded with one word, "No".

"..."

To my refusal, his face instantly turned red. He became angry and said, "How dare you refuse me do you know who I am? I am the third son of the count".

Just hearing his babbling, I understood where this was going. So, before he started talking like a young master, I used a minuscule amount of <Bloodlust > and made him faint.

Thud!

Shea seeing me using such potent killing intent asked, "Is that ok? To release that much killing intent in the middle of the city…"

"It's fine, he did this because he wanted to warn all the people with malicious intent", Hajime said crossing his arms. Which had worked. Hajime could sense it except for a few fearful and intrigued gazes most had disappeared.

"Oi oi, now you have done it. And here I thought this job wouldn't cause me much trouble" saying that a brown-haired adventurer with a scar on his right cheek came closer.

Seeing this man, a few of the locals speak to each other, "Hey, isn't that guy a black rank adventurer?"

The guy next to him spoke, "Yeah, I have heard depending on the money he does anything the client orders".

"That's scary," the previous guy said.

Hearing all the gossip I was getting annoyed, so I decided to finish it with one attack.

The black rank adventurer started to speak, "Too bad kid you offended someone you shouldn't have, now you will never be able to see those girls again. But don't worry I won't kill you. At least I won't", he said the last of his word with mock helpless tone.

Before he talked more, I stretched out my right hand towards the guy and grabbed my middle finger with my thumb. Then used <Shockwave Blast>, and <Shockwave Manipulation> and flicked my finger towards the guy.

Bang!!!

My flick created a shockwave, sending the black-rank adventurer flying into the wall, where he passed out.

"..."

"..."

All the onlookers were mortified seeing me blasting a black rank adventurer with a flick of my finger. He had no chance to retaliate.

After confirming the adventurer was not dead, I turned around to see a pouting Shea and a grumpy Yue. Seeing them like this I was confused. I didn't understand what I had done wrong. I looked at Hajime, who could provide me with an answer. But he looked away because he didn't want to face the wrath of the girls, it would be troublesome he thought.

Seeing that I was abandoned I didn't have any choice, so I decided to face it head-on "What" I asked confusingly.

"You defeated him. Shea and I wanted to fight him. But before we could stop you, he was out cold" Yue said.

"..."

Hearing their reason, not knowing what to say I responded "Umm… I am sorry". Just then we heard another voice.

"Adventurer's stop where you are" Hearing that I looked in the direction where it came from, and there was a man with glasses standing. His attire was that of a high-ranking guild employee with a red cape.

"Disputes between adventurers will be judged fairly by the guild" he continued and stood before us. Beside him followed a few men with similar attire probably his subordinates.

He then scanned the whole place with his eyes, adjusting his glasses, and then one of his men came near and whispered something. With my supernatural hearing, I heard it was a report of the current situation.

(a/n: Mc has superhuman sense but that doesn't mean he could hear someone talking 50 meters away from him unless he uses magic and knows the coordinates of the specific person.)

While he was briefed about the situation Hajime and others stood beside me waiting for their further response. Before we departed from Oscar Labyrinth. I and Hajime made a plan where we both agreed not to antagonise the Guild unless they did it first. So, we waited.

After getting briefed the glasses guy finally looked at me and started to speak, "From what I understand that nobleman harassed your party member so you dealt with him. But the problem is you fought with the adventurer and you defeated a black rank easily, which is strange but not unacceptable. Can I look at your status plate".

"Sure" I handed my status plate after I had hidden my status numbers.

Seeing my adventurer rank he frowned "You are a blue rank". Glasses then asked, "may I see three of your status plates", he asked Hajime and others.

Hajime with a slightly grim face gave his card "This is my card. but the thing is previously in a labyrinth we have faced a few traps where two of our companions had lost their plates so we came here to renew them",

Glasses took that in while observing the status plate. "I see" he then gave back the plates to us.

"Then we can have it done in the guild. We will continue the questioning there".

Seeing the situation getting out of hand I remembered the letter that Catherine had given us. I put my right hand inside my coat and activated the item box took out the letter and handed it to the glasses. From the outside, it would look like I pulled the letter from my coat.

Glasses frowned slightly but still took it and asked "What is it".

"An acquaintance of ours gave it to us and told us if any guild-related problem occurs use it", I answered.

"I see" saying that he opened the letter.

"..."

"..."

While reading the letter his face turned from calm to shock. He then gave the order to the nearest guy to him in a panic, "Take this to the branch chief immediately!! And prepare to receive our guests too!!".

Observing this panicking situation Hajime spoke out "Just what did that lady write in that letter".

After checking the letter, Glasses took us to the guild's VIP guest room, where a man was waiting for us. Glasses then stood behind the man.

"Welcome to the Fuhren branch's adventurer guild. I am the branch chief 'Ilwa Chang'. I have read the letter, where it was quoted 'They are promising but always get in trouble, so please look after them' it says". Saying that Ilwa smiled.

"That's just like her," Ilwa said with a fond smile.

Shea curiously asked, "Um… what did Catherine write on that letter? And is Catherine someone important?"

Hearing her questions Ilwa took out a photo from his pocket and showed us.

"She was an amazing woman".

I saw the image and was shocked [holy fuck is this guy telling me this gorgeous lady is Catherine]. But the other three were confused, then Hajime asked, "Who is that".

Ilwa who was sitting there and observing us noticed that from the four only one looked shocked.

Ilwa responded, "Why don't you ask your friend sitting next to you? I am sure he has gotten it".

Both Shea and Yue hearing Ilwa's response looked at me with questioning eyes. While Hajime furrowed his brow "From how you talk I am guessing it's Catherine".

Hearing the answer Ilwa smiled "Yes, it is her, when she was still the head instructor of the guild management, about half of the current guild masters studied under her and respected her very much".

Saying that Ilwa thought [if what the teacher mentioned is current then they might be able to help me].

Ilwa smilingly continued "I know it's a shocker. Back when she worked as an instructor in the guild because of her beauty and personality, we admired her. But when she married and moved to the countryside the entire capital fell into chaos, and many hearts were broken that day".

"..."

"Well, her beauty was such it to be expected. Still… time is such a cruel thing…" [Hopefully, I will be able to deal with that] I narrowed my eyes and thought to myself.

Hajime glances at me seeing me silent again, he took the conversation in his hand and started to speak, "Leaving that aside, the matter from before, is it alright? If it is then we would like to head out".

"Ah… yes, this is enough as an identification".

Hajime getting the confirmation spoke, "Then…".

Before Hajime could say more Ilwa cut in "May I have a moment before that? Todd if you will".

Ilwa called out to glasses now named 'Todd'. Then, Todd put a paper on the table specifically a quest form where a job was written.

"..."

Seeing the job I remembered [this job I almost forgot about this].

Hajime slightly glancing at the quest directly said "I refuse".

"How blunt. Don't say that, can you hear me out? If you just hear me out, we will overlook this whole situation."

Hajime annoyed replied, "Hah? Just now you said there was no problem."

Hearing that Ilwa coolly replied, "That was about you and your party identification. I still haven't said anything about your friend wreaking havoc in the middle of town". He then looked at me with a side eye measuring my response. After discerning I won't make a move, he continued, "I think they have already explained to you. We need to listen to both parties. If we take into account their recuperation when will that be?"

Hajime seeing he was at a disadvantage sighed hearing Ilwa's response "Fine fine we will hear you out. But whether to accept the request or not we will be the one deciding that."

I have been thinking that I will make the world where Rihito lives have superpowered individuals like mutants or people powers like in the Charlotte anime who work behind the scenes unknown to the ordinary society. And I think I will not add any individual with magic power.
