28 Chapter 28

What is a coincidence for a normal person?

The correct answer will be a situation in which things happen at the same time without planning.

Or a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection.

Unexpected, sudden, etc, will be the answers you get.

A similar phenomenon of coincidence just happened to me.

I looked around myself. It was a small restaurant? Well, more precisely it was a restaurant. Now it is in disastrous condition. The wall on the side has a huge hole in it. The same can be said about the straw ceiling. The tables and wooden chairs are thrown out all over and are broken. It is clear that some big fight or

I am sitting in one of the chairs which were still intact.

This place is on one of the narrow street corners. The place is now much silent as compared to the mayhem which was happening here a few moments ago.

"Um-mn, Here you go…." A feminine, and old voice called me out.

I turned around to see an elderly woman standing in front of me with a tray of food in her hands. Steam can be seen coming out of the food, which indicates the food is warm.

"Oh! Thank you," I thanked her with a smile, and took the plate from her hands.

She returned me a wrinkled smile and walked away.

'Haaa~ poor woman…..' I sighed in my heart. 'She has to go through so much in this old age.'

Tap~

Keeping the tray on the table, I gazed at the person who was sitting on the opposite chair of me.

A beautiful girl. Long black hair, pale white skin and deep sea blue eyes could mesmerise any man. But in those eyes there was a clear shadow of foreboding, those eyes feel to be of someone who has given up on life. A cold look plastered on her face.

She was wearing a dark-coloured hooded dress, covering most of her body except her face and hands. The hood was hanging down her back shoulder.

"So, how about trying some?" Asked her while offering the food. The meal consists of a warm meat soup, though the meat is almost non-existent. And some flatbread.

The girl glanced at the food. After gazing at the food for a moment, she looked at me.

"What about you?" She asked. Her voice was cold but had politeness mixed with it.

I took two spoons from the table and passed one to her.

"Here."

She reached out her hand and took the spoon from me. She then again goes to look at me.

"And yours?...." She asked, clearly confused about my actions.

I flashed a smile and said, "Yes, Let's eat."

I dip the spoon in my hand into the soup, took one spoon full, and put it in my mouth.

Seeing me taking in the soup, her eyes narrowed slightly,

"You mean…..Both of us are to eat from the same bowl?" she asked while pointing at the soup.

I nodded, "Yes," and affirmed as if it is a matter of fact, and took another sip of the soup with some bread.

She was clearly dumbfounded, as she didn't show any reaction.

She kept looking at me eating with the spoon in her hand,

"What?... You don't want to eat it?" I asked, trying my best to show a hint of confusion on my face.

"N-no….I mean…why are we eating from the same bowl?...." She asked. I can see, she is trying her best to be careful of what to ask.

And I was enjoying her changing reactions.

"Hmm? What do you mean? It's normal to share from the same bowl right?" I asked her. Still trying my best to act confused.

"A-ah? Oh! Y-yeah right! It's normal!" She grew a bit flustered and blushed. Then she hurriedly dipped her spoon in the soup. She took a spoonful of it and hesitantly sip on it.

Currently, she has a blush on her face. Probably because it was extremely weird for her to share the same palate with any other person.

'Ha ha ha!!**' I started chuckling inside my head. I really want to tease her right now, but refrained from doing it.

'Damn, can't believe I managed to break her cold face, even if it's a little.' I mused.

Honestly, if I would have said to any other person that,  it is normal for strangers to eat food from the same plate, they would have never believed me.

But a person like her, who most likely never had a meal outside her mansion, can probably believe it.

She is a high-class noble. She has spent her entire life in the company of higher-class people. So, it is quite natural for her to believe that common people share their plates among themselves.

I gazed at her. She had already taken a few more spoonfuls of soup. Which was really surprising. Being a higher-class noble from the Empire, she had excess to the best chefs and best foods. So for someone like her to eat more than one spoonful of this 'ordinary' soup was really amusing.

"So, how does it taste?" I asked her.

She stopped for a moment and looked at the soup. In that instance, it felt like her eyes became lost.

After a few seconds, she raised her head and looked at me.

"It tastes like freedom…." She said,

"Oh!" I raised my eyebrows slightly, 'That was an unexpected answer…'

She continued, "It tastes like being unchained and free,"

'Well….What kind of taste is that?' Seriously, her answer made the environment more awkward.

This was Angeline Von Adrodart. The daughter of Duke Adrodart of the Larchendia empire.

She is my fiance and the 'villainess'…..no the 'Abandoned Villainess' of the game.
