Chapter 21

""HUUHHH""

Quite the weird sound they made to express their shock. They had their mouth and eyes wide open, as if they heard something absurd.

"What's there to be so shocked about?" I asked, raising my eyebrows at them.

Cloud glanced at the guard captain, the guard captain returned the gaze. Both starring at each other.

After a moment, the guard captain turned toward me and said,

"But young lord, slums are not places where people of your standing should visit. Not even commoners prefer to go to these filthy places."

'Hmm~' Hearing him I fell into thought. Honestly, slums like that of this era should be nonexistent in modern times. The game depicted the slums as places where the lowest of the people live. Every time the heroine and her party visited sites like slums, they were attacked by different goons and thieves. The hygiene of the slums is at its lowest. It can be said that there is no hygiene in the slums at all.

It was not difficult for someone to decipher why they didn't want me to go to such places.

Aldrich being a sheltered noble young master, probably never went to slums. And the way they are acting just because I booked a cheap inn, clearly shows that they think I will not be able to bear the situation of slums.

'The slums are the place where I will probably find him. I am not hundred percent sure if I can find him or not. But if he is still in this city, then slums are the places where I will find him.'

I looked at the duo again and said, "Listen, the reason I want to go to slums is highly intertwined with the future of our territory." I paused and took a breath. My eyes turned serious.

Seeing me going all serious about it, Cloud gulped his saliva and the guard captain straightened his back.

"You both know that the situation of the barony is very fragile right?" They both nodded to my question.

"The tax collector and the advisor are both corrupted. There is a high chance they are up to something bad. We need new minds to help to govern the barony with me."

"So, young lord you are saying....."

"Yes, in the slums there is somebody who would be very suitable for this job."

Their eyes widened even further.

Suddenly the guard captain asked, "But…..Lord how would you know somebody from the slums?..."

Quite a legit question. Anybody would be curious….how would I, a sheltered noble know about a person living in a slum?

Without answering the question, I got up from my seat.

Seeing me stand, both of them hurriedly got up.

I tugged both of my hands in my pocket. Looked at them and gave them a mysterious smile.

Anyone seeing my handsome appearance right now would be love-struck by my charm irrespective of gender.

"Y-young lord…." the guard captain's voice trembled.

"...." Nothing came of Cloud's wide mouth, his cheeks had a light blush.[a/n Gaaayyyyy~]

I didn't say anything just walked past them keeping the charming smile.

One of my gym-mates from the previous world once said, *If you don't know how to answer a question, just show a confident smile. If you are handsome it will hit. And if you are not then it will fail.*

'Plus point of having a handsome face I guess.'
