chapter 3

Percy sat on the roof in Nate's yard. It was early in the morning but what he was tired of was having to wait for his father and the elder to return with his brother.

"Such a headache.. this is something serious" he stood on the roof and stretched a bit when he saw a bulky figure moving at a moderate speed carrying someone and another figure that seemed to be moving at top speed, closing on to the first figure.

"Wait… aren't those.. yes, of course it's them" In his excitement, he jumped down the roof transformed into his wolf form, and dashed crazily on all fours to welcome his father.

He sat on the fence at the entrance and returned to his human form. No sooner had he reached there when Miller stopped running at the entrance of the clan and tossed Nate in the air when he saw Percy.

"What the hell!!!" Percy dived swiftly to catch the unconscious Nate.

Elder Park arrived, catching up with a scene of Percy claiming his brother in mid-air. His face palmed exhaustively knowing whose cold and cocky doing it was.

"Just take him to his room to rest. He is extremely exhausted but he's fine now, he should be awake in a few days" Elder Park concluded.

Percy didn't ask why it would take that long. Just what happened to this moron out there to need a rest of several days before he woke up, at least he still had strong vitality so it was unexpected to take a few days unconscious.

"Don't worry little brother, I ….. wait, woah" he noticed the silver features of Nate. His hair, eyebrows, and eyelids were all silver. Something weird happened to him out there.

Elizabeth checked on Nate later in his room. She was relieved that he wouldn't have to join in the ranking competition since he would still be asleep for a few days.

Later that day, Miller Walker summoned all the younger generation of the clan to address them. The other families had sent the list of the competitors for the upcoming competition and the venue this time was Walker's territory.

"Ahem! As you all know, the annual competition is in three days and today we'll be selecting the participants that'll represent us. I'll go over the rules again… Each clan will bring out three rewards…

The best resource of the three rewards from each clan will be for the first place, and in the same way, the second best resource offered by each clan will be for the second place… now you all get the gist if you're not daft" He said and walked away, leaving the elders to select the wolves that would represent the clan.

Although Percy was the Alpha's eldest son, he wasn't the strongest wolf of the clan's younger generation but he was strong enough to be in the top five so naturally he was selected among the ten representatives of the younger generation.

"Don't cling so close to me!!" Percy half yelled at Susan.

"Common, quit keeping your distance from me all the time. I'm still a clan elder's daughter after all"

Susan said, not letting go of Percy's arm.

The other wolves watched as Susan shamelessly displayed her affection openly.

"Don't you think you're being too shameless and making us lose face as one of the top five wolves?

He doesn't want you" Rodriguez whispered.

"That's the privilege he gets for being so sexy and muscular" Susan erotically places her fingers around Percy's arm.

"Tsk, he's just the third strongest and you're this hooked?" Huncho said.

"Well you're only second place, haha" Susan chuckled.

Huncho felt like flattening her against the floor. How dare the fourth place speak so carelessly to him!

The first place didn't want to interfere in their small talk not because he was too mature but

because he loved Susan unconditionally but kept it to himself.

"Huncho's right… I'm third place, just go after Derrick. He's the real genius" Percy said.

Susan was annoyed that she couldn't patronize him easily. Indeed Derrick was the strongest, he might even be as strong as the weakest elder of the clan but he was way too reserved for her taste.

She pushed softly against Percy before letting him be.

While they were chatting away, the elders had already arranged a little competition to determine the other five wolves that would enter the annual competition.

Percy watched the other wolves competing with each other intently. He knew that he had gotten stronger but he wasn't sure how he would fare against Derrick at the moment, only the elders and clan leader might know how strong he truly was without having to engage him.

...…..

Three days later at the Walker clan's combat arena. The three wolf clans had converged, and each family head sat on a high platform beside each other.

Miller hoped that his omega-ranked wolves would deal a good fight against that of the Wayne's.

How's your clan these few days Marcus? I see you have a pretty young lady to serve you here" he

faked a grin.

"She's strong for her age and also pretty but she's stuck permanently having an intermediate form. Can neither be in a complete human form nor complete wolf form so she has no choice anyway. What I look forward to is seeing the Xuan family's refined martial fighting style again" Marcus

looked to his right at Meruem - the family head of the Xuan clan.

"Don't tease me you prick, we all know that only about forty percent of my wolves can align

themselves to be a martial wolf" Meruem said looking down at Sith surveying eyes that seemed to be

estimating all wolves in the arena.

"Ah, by the way, Miller. I don't see Nate anywhere, doesn't he always join the competition forcefully every year? I must admit, he can take a beating" Marcus mocked.

Miller didn't say a word lest he burst out in rage. His anger was piling up evidently.

"Cut it out, Marcus. That Nate, he's talented if not for his meager strength. Even his vitality is as strong as an elder's, anything less and he might have been beaten to death severally. There must be something wrong with his bloodline" Meruem added.

Miller didn't reply. He only laughed so hard that the other clan heads thought he had gone insane, meanwhile he was very eager to see what would become of Nate once he awakened in a few more days.

NATE'S ROOM

Nate opened his eyes slowly, feeling so refreshed and hungry. He tried moving and he got up with much ease.

"Hmm," he looked around as a few memories came rushing to his mind. He moved towards the door but stopped in his tracks upon seeing a reflection of himself through the mirror. He sat in front of his mirror and smiled.

All of the hair on his body had turned silver. Previously, it was only the top of his hair. The current change was enough to make him weird in the eyes of others but he loved it.

"I feel so good…." He decided to take a stroll and confirm the unusual strength he felt coursing through his body by hitting a practice doll in his yard.

It took him just a casual throw of his fist to shatter the wood into many pieces. He looked at his fist in surprise, it was a special type of wood several times thicker than normal ones.

"Nate!" He heard someone call on him from behind.

"Mother?" He said without turning to face her but she ran over, hugging him tightly from behind.

"Oh thank goodness you can now move freely," Elizabeth said happily, she felt all her worries melt away like an iceberg thrown in magma.

The noise from the combat arena took hold of his attention before he could reply to Elizabeth. He

remembered that the annual competition was already around the corner before he passed out. He had planned to ask the clan head to help him negotiate a separate battle but it could not be realized as he had been unconscious.

"Wait for me Bella" he ran off so quickly without thinking about what he was about to do. He only

knew that he felt new and refreshed.

Miller was in the middle of anticipating the first round of the fight when Nate showed up looking all handsome and confident. Marcus immediately requested that he join the tournament out of mockery. Meruem had the same

notion.

Miller was about to object but Nate agreed to it without wasting time.

"Then it won't be for the competition, just a casual fight" Miller ordered Nate.

Several people looked at him with doubt but he was in the limelight with his handsome and silvery features.

Nate didn't agree, staring at the maid who stood beside Marcus.

He immediately asked for a bet to obtain Marcus's maid and he was using his head as the stake.

"What the hell are you doing you fool!" Miller yelled so loudly from where he sat that everyone in the entire clan could hear his voice.

Percy was so overcome with worry and annoyance for Nate that he sort of knocked him out with a punch and sent him back to his room.

Nate dodged the punch with slight movements, smiling at Percy. A smile that meant that he was going to replace Percy for the tournament.

Without batting an eye, he rushed Percy with several jabs and uppercuts. Percy wasn't expecting anything from Nate and couldn't dodge any of the unbelievably heavy attacks, so he got knocked out cold by Nate leaving the whole crowd speechless. Even the family heads couldn't believe their eyes.

Nate had just knocked his brother out cold just to qualify for a position in the competition.

Miller felt like laughing hard and teasing the now dumbfounded Marcus.
