58 The Test

[1203 Words]

---------------------------

After getting the go-ahead for doing a warm-up, many people went into a particular place in the gym and started doing their warm-up. Some did it by stretching themselves and making sure their body was in a good condition, and some tried a couple of basic boxing techniques to get ahold of them in case they need to use them for the test ahead.

Felix went into the middle of the gym and activated his first ability. As soon as he activated his first ability, he could see and study all the movements of the people in his radius of vision. This was one way of analyzing the fighting skills of a large number of people in a short time period.

While he was analyzing the other competitors, he started doing some lazy stretches so as not to look like a creep.

In the given 5 minutes, he was able to understand and grasp the level of skills of most of the people around him.

And he was pleasantly surprised. They were pretty strong, a lot of them were on the level of Jimmy Bae and Wolf Keum. There were a couple who were just on the level of grunts but it was quite clear that they won't be able to pass the test if they only had that much skill.

There were a couple on the level of Jake Ji. Though, Felix was still slightly disappointed since he couldn't find anyone on the level of Donald Na among the competitors. But there were many more opportunities in the future where he would be able to find much better opponents since he had entered the fighting arena.

It would be quite a good warm-up, beating these people since it had been some time since he fought.

All of a sudden, Felix felt a sharp look at him by someone. He managed to find the source of the sharp stare, Derek Watson was almost glaring at Felix.

Perplexed, Felix couldn't do anything but tilt his head in confusion.

After the warm-up had ended, Derek Watson said loudly to the participants, "Stand straight!"

At once, as if expecting it, most people manage to follow the order at once including Felix but some weren't able to because of their slow reaction speed.

Derek didn't say anything but the look of displeasure on his face when he looked at those slow people almost wrote their fate as failed.

"I want 100 Push-Ups from all of you now. Controlled Push-Ups in a proper form. Victor and I will be monitoring you all. Anyone trying to half-ass them will be sent out of the gym."

As if on fire, all the participants put themselves in the starting position and begin the exercise.

It was quite easy for most people since an aspiring fighter should at least be able to do this to try and walk the path of fighting.

However, the ones who came to take it for flimsy reasons and didn't even leave after the speech started getting sorted out from the first push-up.

A couple didn't even manage to do a single push-up and were quickly sent away by a

disgruntled Derek.

At 5 push-ups, most of the hobby attempters had been filtered out.

By 15 push-ups, all people who wanted to treat it as a hobby were gone.

They were escorted off by Victor as Derek didn't even glance at them leaving. They weren't worth his time, Derek knew that from the start.

By 50 push-ups, one-third of attempters had been also disqualified from the test.

By the time, all the remaining participants managed to reach 100 push-ups, only half of the people who had entered the gym were left.

Felix managed to do this exercise pretty easily and only sweated but his whole body was still in a good state.

Before the participants could take a breath properly, Derek growled at them, "Now, I want 500 Jumping Jacks from all of you now. There would be no break. Fights don't have any breaks, it's a one-way street. All of you need to train your endurance to the extreme if you want to excel in a sport like fighting. Now, go!"

Felix started doing Jumping Jacks at once, he had more than enough juice in his body to do exercises back-to-back. However, that was not the case for other competitors.

Most barely managed to do 50 before slumping on the floor in exhaustion. These were the people who could manage 500 Jumping Jacks in one go but the previous 100 Push Ups took everything out of them.

100...

200...

300...

400...

500...

And soon, the number dwindled down to a mere 8 people.

Felix remembered three of them as the ones on the level of Jake Ji and Wolf Keum at least. The other four were quite formidable as well since they managed to finish the exercise.

All of these 8 participants were able to finish these exercises without much trouble.

After a couple of moments, Derek ordered sharply, "Now, all of you need to do the Planks Exercise for 10 minutes at least. Any of you hitting the 10-minute mark will be accepted in my Gym. I wish you luck. Now, start!"

Felix readied himself properly in the Planks position and activated his first ability.

Using his first ability while doing Planks has made Felix realize an amazing way of using it. Felix called the technique - "Time Dilation". Using this technique, Felix would not be able to realize the sense of time. For him, it may feel like a couple of seconds passed but in reality, hours might have passed.

One of the main problems with this technique was that Felix wouldn't be able to stop this technique on his own unless his body hurts so much that the brain stimulates itself enough to snap out of that technique.

However, Felix didn't have anything to fear in this gym since either the Head Coach or the Assistant Head Coach would likely snap him out.

...

...

...

After some time had passed, Victor grabbed Felix and shook his body roughly.

Due to this, Felix snapped out of the time dilation technique and flopped on the floor.

He looked at Victor beside him, looking at him with concern, and asked, "What was my time, Mr. Victor?"

Victor said with a grin, "1 hour and 11 minutes. Looks like you are the cream of the crop this time, huh? Others didn't even manage to do 30+ minutes. Your concentration is crazy. How could you not realize how much time has passed? Derek wanted to meet you personally. Go meet your coach now."

Felix tried to follow the instruction and tried standing up. But his exhausted muscles had a different plan and he flopped back on the floor.

Victor looked at the sight in front of him and guffawed loudly as he said, "Hahahahahah, I should call Derek here. You are in no position to walk."
