53 Chapter 53 Chills Down the Spine

When Austin and Kara arrived at the Batcave, Barry Allen's plan to regain the Speed Force had already succeeded.

With Batman's full assistance, Barry Allen was sitting in a specially designed steel chair, surrounded by all kinds of chemical reagents to mimic the surroundings when he first obtained the Speed Force.

In addition, a metal conductive wire leading straight into the clouds was connected to the back of this steel chair. The other end of the wire was a bat kite, though "kite" wasn't quite accurate since this bat kite was also assembled from various high technologies.

Its purpose was none other than to generate electric sparks at a high altitude to attract electric charges floating in the clouds and attract lightning.

The plan was implemented very smoothly. A bolt of lightning as thick as a water bucket instantly split the bat kite. The intense electric voltage followed the conductor and struck Barry Allen's body in an instant. The terrifying energy seemed like it would tear him apart the next moment.

And at this time, reminded earlier by Austin, Young Barry Allen also knew it was time to act. He immediately activated the Speed Force time dilation. In a flash, all the surrounding objects froze. It was as if time itself had stopped.

Seeing the electric current rapidly striking down the conductive wire, Young Barry Allen did not hesitate at all. He immediately started running, flashes of Speed Force lightning bursting out, resonating with the rumbles and explosions from the sky.

Everything seemed to freeze at the moment the two Barry Allens' bodies made contact. An exceptionally powerful energy that was hard to observe erupted, but strangely, this energy was invisible and intangible, so almost no one could feel just how frenzied it had been here.

Including the two Barry Allens, perhaps only Austin in the entire world knew that just now, the Batcave had almost been torn open by an out-of-control time portal from the Speed Force.

Of course, this message was displayed to Austin on the time controller in a text message from Time Miss, otherwise, Austin probably wouldn't have noticed how dangerous this lightning strike plan was.

But fortunately, the result was satisfactory. As the Speed Force in Barry Allen's body reactivated, the ugly, hideous scars from the lightning strike healed at a visible rate.

Seeing such an astounding scene, even old Batman couldn't help but walk over to take a few more looks. This was his first time seeing a metahuman with such powerful abilities. After all, this level of power was rarely seen in Gotham City before.

"Did we miss anything?"

Just as Bruce Wayne, Young Barry Allen, and Pietro were checking on Adult Barry Allen, who was still in an unconscious state, the two of them, Austin and Kara, walked over.

Seeing the two, Young Barry Allen was extremely excited. "We should have succeeded. All his injuries have healed, though I don't know why he hasn't woken up yet."

"It's normal. Reactivating the Speed Force is no simple matter. All the body's functions and cells need to readjust to this power. You can understand it as his body restarting now," Austin casually explained.

"I see, so that's how it is," Young Barry Allen responded, seeming to not quite understand but still approving of Austin's viewpoint.

Meanwhile, after making sure Barry Allen was in no mortal danger, old Batman immediately turned his attention to Austin and Kara. Unlike the others, Bruce Wayne had not seen any aliens in decades, especially not ones that looked so similar to humans.

"It seems our Kryptonian girl has recovered as well," old Bruce Wayne remarked meaningfully.

Hearing this, Austin nodded and stepped aside to reveal Kara behind him to everyone. Then he said, "I haven't introduced her yet. This is Kara Zor-El, a genuine Kryptonian, also the cousin of Superman that Barry mentioned."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Pietro, from another universe." Pietro reacted very enthusiastically, seemingly worried about an awkward atmosphere.

Young Barry Allen and Bruce Wayne beside him also reacted and did a round of self-introductions, while also introducing the unconscious Adult Barry Allen to Kara.

However, everyone had clearly forgotten one important thing.

Each of them had all kinds of experiences. From Austin and Pietro who had just escaped from other universes, to Batman who had protected Gotham City for decades, to even Young Barry with the lowest seniority who had faced his doppelgänger.

But Kara was different. After being sent to Earth and crashing on the border of Russia at 15, she had barely interacted with anyone since. In other words, she had no experience with things like the multiverse at all. To her, these were just conjectures by Kryptonian scientists.

So this relatively "ordinary" introduction actually made a huge impact on Kara's mind.

Perhaps because it was her first time interacting with the others, Kara was a little nervous. Or maybe it was because she already trusted Austin, so after hearing everyone's introductions, she couldn't help but move closer to Austin and ask curiously:

"Austin, what do you mean when you said I'm the cousin of Superman that Barry mentioned? And what does Pietro coming from another universe mean? Is it the so-called parallel universes?"

Austin felt his teeth go a little sour. To be honest, these things were really not easy to explain. Strictly speaking, they could be explained, just that a more complex logical framework would be needed to lay it out clearly.

But before Austin could answer her, the overly familiar Young Barry Allen excitedly dumped all this information on Kara in one go.

Sure enough, next, when Austin saw Kara's expression instantly turn ugly upon hearing that the reason this universe was heading towards destruction was because Barry Allen decided to time travel to save his mother, he knew things were about to go south.

"So what you're saying is, under normal circumstances, my brother wouldn't have died, right?"

A dangerous glint flashed in Kara's eyes as she stared at them. Pinned by such a gaze, the three led by Young Barry Allen instantly understood what it felt like to have chills down their spine. The immense pressure even made it hard for them to breathe.

Seeing this, Young Barry Allen hurriedly tried to remedy the situation.

"Uh, what I meant was, this was indeed an accident, right? And in a way, it can be considered a good thing, because in the original universe, you didn't even exist!"

(End of The Chapter)...To be continued.
