Chapter 44. Farewell For Now

Getting to Midnight Fire was quite possibly one of the most difficult and elongated journeys I have ever faced in my eighteen years of existence.

Naturally, I opted for the shortest route to my desired destination; so where else would I go, apart from the territorial amber-lit divide? The previous demons associated with my rogue attacks had dissipated a few weeks ago. Admittedly, I don't have the luxury of time to circle the territory.

Not wanting to shed my clothing, I grudgingly stayed human. It's getting late, and I spot Uncle Jerry's van near the recruit house as I tentatively pass the lively laughter coming from within the building. No doubt the boys are celebrating with Dad. I leave them to bask in their relief and happiness; it gives me the opportunity to say goodbye to my mate.
