137 A Reality Check

Natalie was panting by the time they got to their room. He slammed the door shut and ran his hands through his hair, looking irritated before he unzipped his leather jacket and angrily tossed it on the floor.

"Alonso, I get how frustrated you are."

"I am," he said in a low tone. "Mostly frustrated with myself for letting things get this far, Natalie... My old man was right before. If I'd been more tuned in, if I'd stepped in earlier, then..." His voice trailed off, his eyes fixed on the wall behind Natalie's head, a look of heartbreaking helplessness appeared on his face before it went blank. He headed to his dressing room, one hand already pulling off his shirt while the other rummaged through the hangers.

"Are you going somewhere?"

"I'm going to find out who that jerk was!" He shuddered. "My blood boils thinking about his filthy hands on my sister's wrist... I have to get out of this house before I blow up in their faces for real this time."
