Mr Vampire Next Door

~Updates Saturdays and Sundays 'My Beloved' He called her, Kaylani was not having any of it , But just how easy was it to escape the clutches of a 3000 year old creature of the night with the hots for you? _______________ "Do you really think all of this can keep me out?" Kelevi asked, taking in the garlic curtains and red beans sprayed everywhere with deep amusement. "If that doesn't work, this will." Kaylani replied with determination, brandishing the wooden dagger fiercely in the air. "Ah...You would stake me?" Kelevi gasped with mock horror, watching as Kaylani's eyes narrowed in that familiar manner they always did when she was seething in anger. "If you do not leave, I will." Kaylani promised solemnly, Kelevi chuckled darkly as he took another step closer to Kaylani, watching as she equally retreated another step back. Kelevi took note of the wall behind Kaylani, lips stretching into a smirk revealing his glinting sharp fangs as he realized she would soon run out of steps to take away from him. "I came with a proposal... dump that boyfriend of yours and come to me." Kelevi stated as though it was the most natural request to ask your neighbor to leave her four year boyfriend for a vampire. "Why would I even do that?" Kaylani seethed, "Because you rightfully belong to me Lani and no one else... because he can never satisfy your darkest desires like I can." Kelevi said in a deep, guttural tone, eyes dark with desire. "What do you know about my desires?" Kaylani challenged, tone still as cold and fierce as it always was. "I will have you writhing in pleasure beneath me, your pleasure trove dripping wet, chanting my name as though it was your last prayer as I take you over and over again till you forget where I end and where you begin." Kelevi swore, his words sending a jolt of desire right down to Kaylani's core. *Cover art sourced from the internet, all credits to the original artist*

Another Attack (Ch 96)

Kaylani heard rushed footsteps approaching her office and she glanced up with a raised brow as her door was pushed open and in came Yohan.

"Well... that's one way to make an entrance..." Kaylani murmured as she watched Yohan pant for breath whilst struggling to speak at the same time.

Yohan lifted his gaze up to meet Kaylani's, his demeanor looked urgent and Kaylani's brows furrowed in concern.

"Have you seen the news?!" Yohan exclaimed when he could finally get words out and Kaylani shook her head slowly.

From Yohan's expression, Kaylani could tell it was something urgent and so she grabbed her remote and turned on the TV channel to News Daily.

The moment the media personality appeared on the screen, with a familiar image displayed at the side, Kaylani began to understand what was happening.

The familiar image was that of Mr Jordan, the assemblyman who had been a victim of the recent knifing attack in Evercrest Central Park.

The very same assemblyman Kaylani had a slight altercation with for contacting her father as a means to pressure her into performing his surgery herself.

"Reports have it that there has been a murder attempt premeditated against fast rising politician, Mr Jordan Wrights."

"The young and promising politician who currently holds the title of Assembly man is currently in a critical condition and paramedics are on the case,"

"He will be moved to the Evercrest Central Hospital for further treatment."

"The attack on Mr Jordan Wrights is said to have occurred in his home in the Dawn Estate at precisely 10am this morning. An on-scene reporter will provide a more detailed report." The reporter said.

The scene changed to that of a large estate where the police and law enforcement could be seen trooping in and out of the assemblyman's home.

"Assemblyman Jordan Wrights, one of the victims of the recent knifing attack at the Evercrest Central Park has been attacked again in what seems to be a second premeditated murder attempt in the space of a month."

"This time, the attack occurred in his own home a few hours ago and the perpetrator behind the crime has again eluded capture, escaping the scene before the arrival of the police and law enforcement." The on scene reporter began in a serious tone.

"The attack was called in to the police by a domestic staff who was present within Mr Jordan's home at the time."

"There was a total of ten domestic staffs and an entire team of security personnel on ground in the Dawn Estate when the attack occurred, yet no one seems to be able to provide a concise report."

"The knifer is said to have donned in a black mask, keeping his identity unknown and the assemblyman is the only reported victim of this attack."

"The police have launched an investigation into the route through which the knifer infiltrated Mr Wright's home without alerting his security personnel."

"The police is yet to give a statement on the status of their investigation into the first knifing attack, however the similarity of both attacks has residents wondering if this is the same knifer from the attack at Evercrest Central Park?"

"And if it is, could the assemblyman be the intended target in both attacks and is this second attack carried out in a bid to finish the job?"

"This leads us to wonder, who is this knifer and what is his true motive?" The reporter left the question hanging for a moment before she finalized her report.

"However, there is growing panic amongst the residents of Evercrest City at the knowledge that the perpetrator of two brutal knifing attacks is still unidentified and on the loose."

"On the same note, the entire city awaits the fate of Assemblyman Jordan Wrights with bated breaths. Diana Monard from News Daily, reporting." The reporter concluded her report and Kaylani lifted a gaze to Yohan.

"Mr Jordan will arrive soon, from the information sent in by the paramedics...he is in a critical condition, the hospital director wants to see us." Yohan relayed.

Kaylani got up to her feet and grabbed her coat, pulling it on before heading up to the director's office.

The Doctors from General Surgery were already present and seemed to be waiting for Kaylani.

The hospital director paced around impatiently and the moment he noticed Kaylani, he heaved a sigh of relief.

"Doctor Myron, you're here." The hospital director said as he gestured towards his screen.

The screen displayed the nature of Mr Wright's condition as reported by the paramedics.

The Doctors exchanged glances, the knife stabs had hit Mr Wright's vital organs and it was already a miracle that he was not dead yet.

"You have all seen it and you are the very best team Evercrest City has, I haven't been in the OR in years but even I know the risks involved in this." The Hospital director began in a grim tone,

"Mr Jordan Wrights is amongst the most influential men in Evercrest City and beyond, his case is high profile, we cannot afford to have him die on our operation table. "

"There are dozens of reporters already assembled in our courtyard and the prestige of Evercrest Central Hospital as well as each one of you is at stake here." The Hospital director continued.

Kaylani could understand his reservations, Evercrest Central Hospital was the highest ranked medical facility in Evercrest City and so attracted a lot of media attention,

If anything were to go wrong with the assemblyman's surgery, the credibility of Evercrest Central Hospital would be in question.

It would not matter then if he was already half dead when he was wheeled into the hospital doors, all that would matter is that the surgery was unsuccessful.

"It is a critical one, professionally speaking, there is only a 10% chance of success if we choose to operate." Doctor Ian said, his tone also grim and Kaylani nodded in agreement.

"Even so, do we still accept this patient? There is no harm in bowing out, we can leave this to a private facility which would face less backlash in the event of a mishap." The hospital director said in a serious tone.

"Are you saying we should turn down a patient? On what grounds?" Doctor Edwards asked with a frown.

"On the grounds that we do not have sufficient facilities! We can come up with an excuse of some sort to shrug off the responsibility. The management believe that will be for the best."

"Mr Jordan has had a surgery performed on him barely a month ago, to perform another critical surgery at this time...it just doesn't seem wise." The hospital director insisted.

"Is that why you called us here, to convince us to turn a blind eye to the Management's decision on this? So we can compare our stories and get them straight?" Doctor Ian asked knowingly.

"This is not for the management alone, it's for the entire hospital. Why do you think every General Surgeon within this hospital is standing here right now?" The hospital director seethed.

"Well...the hospital director has a point." Doctor Bella pointed out.

"We don't turn down patients, director...we never have." Doctor Shantel said in bafflement.

"This patient is different, he is affiliated with the highest circles of Government in the country! Doctor Myron can attest to it!" The hospital director exclaimed.

Kaylani frowned slightly at being pulled into the conversation simply because her father had affiliations with the assemblyman.

"It doesn't matter who he is, the moment he comes through our doors, he is our patient. We cannot determine if he will live or die...we only need to do our job." Kaylani said.

"Where the hell did I get this bunch of righteous subordinates?" The hospital director murmured but there was a small smile on his lips.

"Very well, I will let the management know of our decision. Who shall have the displeasure of heading this surgery?" The hospital director asked.

"If I can have Doctor Ian and Shantel assisting, as well as Doctor Edward and Yohan on stand by... I'll go for it." Kaylani said with a shrug.

"Are you certain, Doctor Myron? The chances of survival are very slim and you have never experienced what it is like to loose a patient."

"If it is up to me, I would not have you experience it either. Why not just leave this to us?" Doctor Ian asked.

Kaylani was quiet for a moment, she had not been in the Evercrest Central Hospital for as long as the other surgeons and she was the youngest on the team too.

Many lauded Kaylani as being the surgeon who had never lost a patient but she had only been a surgeon for two years, Kaylani knew one day or another... she would be faced with reality.

The reality that there would always be those that not even she could save, Kaylani could only do her best and leave the rest to the greater power.

"Life and death is not ours to determine...At least let me assist then. I can't just sit this one out." Kaylani relented with a sigh.

"Ian is right, you haven't been in the best mind space recently too." The Hospital director insisted.

"Best mind space? How so? I am perfectly fit for duty." Kaylani said in confusion.

Kaylani's eyes narrowed suspiciously as she noticed her team passing subtle glances to the unaware hospital director.

"But I heard you recently broke up with your boyfriend and then had a fight with your new boyfriend today." The Hospital director said, frowning as he finally noticed the looks the other doctors were giving him.

"What? Why are you crossing eyes at me? Michael went around saying Doctor Myron's new, hottie boyfriend came looking for her this morning and it seemed like they had a fight."

"The news is all over the hospital already." The hospital director added, still not understanding the subtle hints from the other doctors.

"What?!" Kaylani exclaimed in astonishment.
