Justin and Marissa got ready to go see Chris. It had been a while Marissa had paid a visit and she missed him alright. Justin offered to accompany her and in the last minute canceled because Karen called him. Again.

Marissa could not hide her dissatisfied looks. He apologized over and over and she just simply told him to go ahead and attend to his mother since it was really important.

Things like these weren't new to Marissa but every time it happened, she still got disappointed although she saw it coming.

"How about I drop you off before leaving?" he suggested.

She shook her head. "Not to worry, I'll call Aaron to see if he is free."

"Are you mad at me?"

"Its okay dimples. I'll be fine. I'm sure Karen needs you more than I do."

"Thank you," he said and gave her a brief hug."Take care of you."

"Your boyfriend is an ass," Aaron said to Marissa the moment he set his eyes on her.

"Stop it," she replied pushing him a little.

"He left you by yourself as always" he said and shrugged.

"Come on, let's go see my dad and have some fun okay? " she said instead changing the subject.

Chris wrapped Marissa and Aaron in a bear hug on seeing them. Marissa had texted him earlier letting him know she was coming with Aaron.

"How's my princess doing?"

"Beautiful as always," Marissa replied with a smile and flip of her hair.

"You're actually glowing. Justin must be feeding you properly" Chris said with a pleased smile.

"Yes, in bed."Aaron chipped in and cleared his throat. Marissa immediately flushed in embarrassment and slapped him at the back of his neck. Chris stifled a smile.

"Uh where is Anna?" Marissa asked, her eyes searching the living room.

"She had to go out for business" Chris answered ."She would be back in two hours. Come on guys, I made dinner."

Chris was a pretty good chef. He even knew how to cook better than his ex wife.

They all sat on the table and chatted away happily while they ate.

"I saw Linda yesterday while I was out shopping with Anna" Chris was saying. Marissa's face was beginning to turn sour.

"Really?" She asked in an uninterested tone."What did she say?"

"She said that you still don't respond to her messages and begged me to talk to you when I see you."

"Dad,"Marissa called after chewing her food properly."Is that why you called me yesterday to come over today? Is it because you wanted to talk about Mom or because you really missed me?"

"Darling, I did miss you of course. I had already called you before I saw Linda" Chris explained.

Marissa nodded in understanding and was silent for a while.

"You should give your Mom a chance Rissa," Aaron said quietly.

"I'm not letting her into my life yet but l will give her a call soon." Marissa stated and they both smiled at her. "Can we return to this delicious food now?"

Later on after dinner, Marissa excused herself to go to the bathroom but it was taking so long for her to come out.

That was weird. Chris and Aaron called out her name a few times but there wasn't any response. Worry began to creep into their minds slowly and they finally decided to go check if she was okay. They knocked on the bathroom door a few times but it was silent as a graveyard.

Aaron carefully pushed the door open and they found Marissa lying on the floor unconscious with her forehead bleeding.
