1 1.

It was a cold rainy day. On this particular day though, Andrew George, a man of Dr words was dressed in casual wear along with a long coat to fend of the harsh weather.

It had rained about thirty minutes ago heavily and all that was left now was a mere drizzle. Still, the aftermath, the harsh winds and the consequent shivers everyone got was a testament to the serious rain that had fell that day.

Andrew continued walking without any inhibitions about the weather, too absorbed in in his own thinking. He soon began to walk in a quiet and dirty part of the city. He didn't even notice. For him, he was in his own world.

His melancholy was disturbed however by the screaming of a baby who seemed to be losing strength in her lungs gradually. Her cries clearly showed that she was in danger.

Andrew heard the sound was outside and not inside a house. He quickly began to look around.

After about 5 minutes of searching, he found a poorly wrapped baby with black gifts of hair laid near an alley. Without wasting much time, Andrew took action. He grabbed the baby and started to offer as much heat as he could.

Alas, he himself had been walking in the cold and his help did little to nothing. The baby -a girl he noticed - was running a very high temperature. Her body looked frail too. The attire on her was very flimsy and it was evident that whoever was taking care of the baby hadn't given much thought to the car of the baby.

The baby clearly was barely holding into life right now...it was a serious situation he has right now. She needed instant care. He tried to do his best with creating heat by rubbing his hand furiously on the baby's skin.

Had it not been the severity of the situation, he would have been frozen in fury. Who would dare to do this? Surely, only a person with a dead heart could.

He pulled out his phone that he kept on him at all times and called the ambulance.

Within a few minutes, they were there. The paramedics quickly got to work, grabbed the baby gently and placed about 10 blankets on the very hot baby and placed her in the ambulance. He quickly climbed on and off they went.

The baby was immediately sent to the emergency ward. A nurse had approached him with a cup of coffee and overcoat for drying. The cup of coffee was long forgotten in his worry for the baby.

After 2 hours, a doctor came out and headed in his direction.

"Sir, I understand you are a mere kind passer by who helped this baby. Would you be interested in knowing the current situation?" The doctor who was from the ward asked.

If he had not been so worried about the baby, he would have given the doctor a sound scolding. Silly man, if that was the case, he would have minded his business the moment the ambulance arrived! But he calmed himself down and attributed it to the long hours the doc has probably worked that day so he wasn't thinking.

"Yes."

The doctor nodded.

He proceeded to tell the saviour about the girl's current condition. About how she needed to be under the hospital's monitoring for about a month then her general sickness and treatments.

The man quickly intervened before the doctor could awkwardly mention the issue of payment.p

"I would deal with any sort of financial problem. Give her the best medicines and care, I will pay."

The doctor was in awe. The man did not even have any relations with the sweet baby but he was willing to do this for her?

There are still such kind people in the world after all. There was still hope for mankind!

It had been two weeks since the baby was brought in. Through police investigations, it has been discovered that the baby's mother was dead from overdose and the father was not around. There was no name on the baby.

It was also a three month old baby. It was a miracle the baby had survived the night.

The baby's saviour continually visited and checked up on the little child. The child recognized the man as he always spent an hour or more with her before he went home.

After so long, the legal procedures required the hospital to start filling out forms to send the baby to an orphanage.

The doctor in charge of the baby felt it was only right to make the saviour aware of this piece of information.

The man stood quietly for a while before his deep smooth voice spoke, "Prepare adoption papers as soon as you can,"

The doctor was in shock. How lucky was this baby girl? From the continuous visits of the man, he saw that the saviour was not lacking in money apparently.

However he was also cautious, for all he knew, he was a child trafficker hiding his intentions.

The man seemed to sense his thoughts vaguely, as he continued, " I am willing to undergo a thorough security check in order to be eligible. Feel free to take all legal procedures. I am Andrew George."

Andrew had a good impression of the doctor dealing with his soon to be daughter. The doctor was obviously amazed by his generous deeds but did not allow that to blind him from taking professional decisions.

Another fortnight passed by in a flash.

With the doctor pressing down on them, the personnel in charge of the adoption process and all that came with it quickly completed all the necessary tasks with two weeks.

After a week of final examinations and checks, the baby girl was cleared to go to her new family. The now four month old gave a toothless smile to her father. He was carrying her in his arms, the first time after receiving the title.

He got into the cars and ordered his chauffeur, Mr. Way, to send them home.

Upon passing through the gates where their identity was quickly checked by the high tech scanner the man had installed in his walls, he quickly opened the doors to the relatively simple 2 floor house.

This door too had scanners placed inside. It scanned his fingers and merely made a small vibration before clicking open.

It made way to a minimally decorated house. Many people would say that Mr.George was a minimalist, but he would reply that he simply didn't see the need for so many things.

The beautiful high tech but small kitchen was connected to the living room space. Proceeding from the room on the left side led one to a set of double doors that contained a simple mahogany dinning table with only six chairs.

On the right side of the living room were a set of stairs that led to the second floor of the house. Up here were four rooms plus an office, a work out room and the laundry room.

The house was decorated with various shades of white. However because of his new daughter, he had opted to paint the walls of the second floor with colourful colours.

She had her own room complete with a bathroom. He had decided to paint with a mixture of pink, violet and a hint of green and blue, when she grew, she could change it.

"Well, Ann, I hope you like your house."

Yes, he had named her Ann; a simple name unlike the complex ones parents nowadays liked to give.

When he was in school, he shared do his name with more than fifty people in the same course. Andrew and George were pretty common.

Upon hearing the name, the baby girl gave a small gurgle with her thumb in her mouth. He looked at her and frowned.

"None of that for you," saying this, he plucked her thumb from her mouth gently.

The baby, "..."

She paused and started at him, simply confused with his actions.

"Let me make this clear, Ann, you are now a George. We Georges do not copy such ridiculous activities. You are a baby so you wouldn't know how harmful this is. Do not worry, I will let you off for now. Training will soon begin. The earlier, the better."
