I’m Coming

Genevieve felt sick. Was he trying to gaslight her? How could he ask her this so casually, even after catching them in the act? Was he this shameless?

"Let go of my arm." She spat the words out venomously.

Ben quickly let go of her hand but didn't move back to create a space between them,

"You should know that this house belongs to me Eve. Though you used your money to pay for it, but it's rightfully mine after all." Eve shook her head and wondered how he could say those words without thinking.

She took in a deep breath and sighed, she turned to the lady who was now sitting on her couch without having the decency to dress up.

"I want you both out of my house before kid night and I mean it Ben." She scowled at him before tugging at the door knob. She left the apartment, ignoring Ben's fervent calling.

Genevieve was the one who brought Ben out of the slums. She was the one who provided for him, give him a roof under his head, gave him a job where he got fired after staying there for just two days. She gave him everything anyone could ever think of because she love him, but this was how he repaid her.

All his while she was working effortlessly, he was busy cheating behind her back.

Eve choked up on her own tears when she remembered that, she was just a money machine for Ben. He never loved her, he just wanted her money.

She rushed down the stairs and almost fell on her face because of her shaky legs, but she was able to hold herself from going down. She sniffed and touched her face. She saw the wet patch on her hand and wondered why she was crying.

"Why am I crying?" She asked herself, the tears still coming out.

"Why do I need to cry for that cheating bastard? He was never mine to begin with." Eve tried to wipe the tears off her face repeatedly, but they kept falling. She decided to let them pour, instead she went downstairs and tried finding a taxi. She wanted to get out of the stinking environment.

It was hard getting a taxi at this part of the country at this time, so she took to walking. She walked down aimlessly while still crying through the busy streets.

Genevieve didn't know where she was going or who she was going to meet that will console her. Her heart was already broken and what she needed right now was a close friend— that she don't have.

"You're so pitiful, Eve." She whispered to herself and let out a bitter laugh.

….

On the other part of the city, far from a crying and broken-hearted Genevieve, a male stood beside the tall glass window with an unbuttoned shirt that displayed his abs and a stick of cigarette between his fingers.

The cigarette wasn't lit up, but he just held it between his fingers as he looked at the night sky through the glass window.

The man was holding a phone in his other hand staring at it once in a while.

He was expecting a call from someone, but he wouldn't be the first person to call her. He wanted her to call him instead. Standing there he looked so tall like a god, face strikingly handsome and jaws sharp. He has a curly brown hair with a set of dark green eyes that were reflected on the windowpane as he stared at the night view of the city. He was the total definition of handsome.

His phone lit up, and his body jerked with anticipation, but he let the phone ring for sometime before answering the call.

'Hmm.' He answered and the person at the other side snorted.

'Is that all you can say after what you did?' The person asked.

The man did not say anything, instead his focus moved to the cigarette in his hand.

'You always do this, and I'm tired of it!!' The person screamed, startling him for a minute.

'What are you talking about, Jeanne?' He asked, his lips raising slightly in a smirk. He loves provoking this girl, and he enjoyed the reaction he gets from her.

She was a feisty little thing that got caught in his game.

'You…you.' She sighed.

'You know what, I'm done with this fucking facade, I hope you have a nice life, bastard.'

Tut. Tut.

The call ended, but the young man didn't drop his phone from his ear, his green eyes darkened more before dropping the phone.

Crash…

The phone landed at the other side of the room, alerting the people outside the room.

"What do you think is going on right now?" One asked, but the other shrugged.

"Who knows? Maybe he's throwing one of his usual tantrums again." He said, while looking at the door.

They heard footsteps and quickly comported themselves, their straight shoulders went down in relief when they saw who it was.

"Mr. Ryan, good thing that you're here." The one who asked the question first spoke, halting the man now known as Mr. Ryan.

"What happened?" Mr. Ryan sighed and rubbed his forehead. Of course, he already knew what was going on, but he wanted to know how deep this was.

"The usual crashing sound was heard from his room but after that nothing." The guard explained.

Mr. Ryan nodded and then rushed into the room, he opened the door slowly and looked around in high alert for any incoming object. When he saw none, he walked in fully.

Mr. Ryan looked at the room and sighed when he saw the tiny pieces of what looked like a phone on the ground.

'Great, he will have to get this one replaced….again.'

He moved towards the young man who was still standing by the glass window and stopped when he was three steps away from him.

"Ahem….what happened again this time, boss?" He asked, while staring at the young man's back consciously.

The young man didn't move or say anything to him. After two minutes of standing there without getting a reaction from his boss, Mr. Ryan decided to leave the room and call the maids to come clean the mess-up.

"Get the car ready." The young man ordered, without taking his eyes from the midnight sky.

Mr. Ryan paused and quickly turned to his boss,

"Where are we going, boss?"

"The RoyalKingstone." Me Ryan nodded and turned to leave, but his boss called him again.

"You are not going with me, Ryan." He said, without looking at the stunned man behind him.

Ryan's eyes open widely as he stared at his boss in disbelief, what does he mean by that?

"Uhm…boss."

"Give me the details of them again?" The young man said walking past Ryan who was still gobsmacked. He took the bottle of wine that has been on his table and turn some into the glass.

He raised the glass to take a sip but paused when he realized Ryan hasn't said anything.

"I don't have all day, Ryan. Give me the fucking details and get the car ready." He demanded, pulling the dreaming Ryan from his thoughts.

"Yes boss, from the news I got from the investigators I am certainly sure that their company is about to go down. He had everything he has sold and there is still a huge debt to pay even after selling those many properties." Ryan said with a slight frown on his face. He wondered how someone who was rich would borrow a lot of money and end up in a lot of dept.

The young man smiled as he took a sip from his glass then looked at Ryan who was still trying to comprehend everything.

"I want you to buy every of their fucking shares." He commanded, making Ryan to gulp before nodding.

"Is there anything you are not telling me?" The young man asked, narrowing his eyes at Ryan.

"Yes boss, they also said that he intends to get his daughter married to an older man." He scrunched his nose up in disgust. He wouldn't be this desperate for money, and he wouldn't even have the heart to sell his own daughter. Rich people lives were so fucked up.

The young man dropped his glass,

"Status?"

Ryan quickly braced himself and gave him what he needs.

"Good, get the car ready and make sure they keep following her." He got up and walked towards his walk in closet.

"Yes boss." Ryan answered even though his boss was gone.

The young man changed from his shirt to another, before stepping out of the closet. His long legs took him back to the windowpane, and he gazed at the sky with a smirk.

"I'm coming, Eve. You just wait.." He muttered the name that sounded sore and sweet at the same time, in his ears. Oh, how he just couldn't wait to meet her.
