THE ENGAGEMENT PART 3

James couldn't comprehend the reason behind Ash's smile but didn't think about it much. Right now the whole environment was in Ash's favor. Everyone was talking about his movie Even the heads of the six major studios were Very impressed by it. Josh Butler came to Ash and said, "It looks like I have to reevaluate your talent once again. You can not only write good scripts but even produce them very beautifully too.

"Thank you for your high-praises Mr. Butler," Ash said.

"What's the budget of your movie?" Josh asked with some intentions.

"Budget? Umm, about 16 million dollars," Ash said.

"A low-budget?" The budget wasn't that low but for Butler it was. "What do you say, Ash, Sell it to me and I will give you 30 million Dollars." Josh knew it was going to be a good movie because After watching the trailer Josh knew one thing that this movie will earn about $40 million in the US market for sure. He had already read the script of this movie and he thought it was good. After reading the script for <Toy story> Josh was curious about Ash's new movie so he used his contacts and read the script.

Ash was surprised by this sudden offer but he said, "Thank you for your offer but I will not sell it."

"Think about it again if you release it in theaters you might not earn as much or even lose money. It's like a bet out there and here is sure profit so choose wisely."

Josh's main reason for buying this movie was to establish a good relationship with Ash. He had a high evaluation of Ash so he wanted to make as much from Ash as possible.

But Ash had other plans so he said, "I decided to bet the day I wrote it but still thank you for your kind."

since Ash didn't want to sell he didn't push it either and gave it up. Then Josh and Ash started talking about their work and life so no one disturbed them.

But At the same time, A waiter came to James and told him to go inside the house because his father had called for him.

When James went inside he saw his mother and father were talking to May's parents, and the atmosphere was tense.

"mother, you are finally here." His mother wore a beautiful red dress. She looked so young that no one would believe today was her son's engagement.

When she saw her son she got up and hugged him. She said while hugging him, "Oh, my dear child, Mother is so sorry for you!"

James didn't understand what was happening so he asked, "What's the matter mother? What is there to be sorry for today? I know you came late because of your work but nothing to be sorry about"

Virginia Scott who was the wife of Cyrus Scott and mother of James Scott was a model in the early days but after marrying Cyrus Scott she left her modeling career behind and started living a leisure life. She was on a trip to Europe and due to some turbulence, she arrived late for her son's engagement. When she arrived things weren't like she expected. Everyone was talking about Ash when it was James's big day. She found it quite infuriating so she went to Cyrus who was quite busy at that time and couldn't meet her. So she decided to ignore it for a while and went to look for May because she had bought a neckless for her and wanted to give it to her.

In the past when May was Ash's fiancee, she found it quite infuriating and thought Ash didn't deserve her. But now that, May was going to be her son's fiancee she wanted to have a better relationship with her.

She looked everywhere but couldn't find May. When she couldn't find her by herself she grew anxious so informed Dave and Cyrus.

They checked CCTV and after seeing May on CCTV they gathered in the house and called James.

"Son, Mother is sorry for making you marry such a girl." Virginia Said that with clear criticism, and then continued the talking while looking at Dave, "You should tell my son everything."

Right now Dave felt Ashamed and angry because of May. He looked at James and said, "It looks like May is not here."

"Not here? Then where she could be? today is our engagement. James said with a hint of confusion.

"We checked CCTV earlier and it seems left the party a while ago," Dave said.

Virginia looked at Dave and then James and said, "what he's basically saying is that his daughter ran away from the engagement a while ago."

"Runaway? why..." James wanted to say something but before he could continue, A smug face of Ash appeared in front of his eyes. He got raged by it.

He immediately understood why Ash was smiling. He was so blinded by the rage that he ran out of the house toward Ash.

Ash who was still talking with Josh got his collar caught by James and was about to be punched but Ash has been exercising for a while so he Saw the punch coming towards him and caught it midway.

Everyone was surprised by it and didn't know what to do they could only speculate.

Then Dave came out and held a mike in his hand, and said, "I am sorry ladies and gentlemen. We have a little problem here. My daughter just got into an accident so we can't proceed with the engagement ceremony. I want to apologize to everyone for wasting your time."When Ash heard that announcement his face turned smug. He slapped James's hand away and freed his collar.

By this time Cyrus came out as well. He went towards James and Ash. He looked at Ash and asked, "Are you really behind it?"

Ash answered, "What are you saying, father?" Ash said that indifferently but there was a hidden sarcasm in his tone. Cyrus immediately understood Ash's game and said, "Don't call me father ever again. What you have done today shamed the name of this household and it is unforgivable. from today on our relationship is Over."

When Ash heard that he felt a barrage of emotion surfacing from deep within. Ash's gaze turned cold as he said, "What relationship are you talking about? We never had one."

When Cyrus heard that his stoic face showed a hint of anger and said, "Very well then, Next time we meet we will be enemies."

"As you wish," Ash said and turned his back towards Cyrus. Ash got out of the venue and started thinking about the past and future.

He thought about the time when he received the call from May in the morning.
