1 The betrayal

Shaanxi, Huayin, Mount Hua Sect;

a vicious battle against the Black Demon Sect is raging; inside the Mount Hua Sect.

Almost all the outer sect disciples were dead; only a few inner sect disciples and core disciples were alive. Many 'elders' and 'grand elders' have already laid their lives down to protect the sect.

Still, the Black Demon Sect's advance was not nearing; its end anytime soon.

Inside the main hall of Mount Hua Sect, a white-haired middle-aged man in his mid-60s in a white robe holding the plum blossom sword was fighting in great rage and anger against a man in the black robe, the 'grand elder' of Black Demon Sect. His white robe was stained red; from the blood of the Black Demon Sect members.

The white-haired man is the 9th generation patriarch of the Mount Hua Sect, Shao Sheng Kai, a martial art sage. He was a war orphan taken in by the previous patriarch of the Mount Hua Sect. For him, the Mount Hua Sect was his whole family; his everything. However, today the Black Demon Sect's attack had destroyed his sect. He lost his master, who was like a father to him; his martial brothers and sisters.

Even though he was enraged by his losses, his action and swordplay were as calm as they could be. There wasn't a trace of helplessness on his face; all he could think about was how to save as many disciples or elders as he could to preserve the legacy of Mount Hua Sect. He has realized that he won't be living any longer even if he defeated the 'grand elder' of the Black Demon Sect. Thus he ordered the remaining elders and disciples.

" Everybody run away as far as you all can and try our best to preserve the legacy of the sect so that you all can rebuild it later."

While Shao Sheng Kai's fierce battle; against the 'grand elder' of the Black Demon Sect was nearing its conclusion. Shao Sheng Kai decided to deliver a crucial attack to the 'grand elder' of the Black Demon Sect and retracted his 'plum blossom sword.' So, he started to 'accumulate;' the immense amount of vigorous plum blossom qi on the tip of his 'plum blossom sword;' to stab through the heart of the 'grand elder' of the Black Demon Sect. But, before he could deliver his critical blow, a sword stabbed through his back, piercing straight through his heart.

"Arrrggggh"

Shao Sheng Kai grunted; he was stunned as he felt a crushing pain in his chest. He looked down to see a sword piercing through his chest as he heard a familiar laugh coming from his rear. He turned around to see Wu Guihai, the fourth elder of the Mount Hua Sect 'laughing viciously;' as his sword was stabbing through; Shao Sheng Kai's chest.

Before Shao Sheng Kai could do anything, Wu Mohan and Wu Dushe, the fifth and sixth grand elder of the Mount Hua Sect, stabbed their sword and saber through Shao Sheng Kai's stomach.

While bleeding out and vomiting blood; from his mouth slowly felt all his strength fading away. Shao Sheng Kai witnessed the butchering of his loyal disciples and elders by the hand of Black Demon Sect members. Tears were trailing through his face as he saw this scene. Through all his pain and suffering, he gathered all his strength together only to ask one single question;

"Why; why did you betray the sect; WHY."

There was deep frustration and anguish in his voice. He was 'incapable' of understanding why Wu Guihai, Wu Mohan, and Wu Dushe betrayed the sect. He desperately wanted to know the reason for their betrayal.

After hearing Shao Sheng Kai's question, Wu Guihai Smiled viciously and answered;

"you want to know why we betrayed the sect; then hear it well. We were never part of Mount Hua Sect; we were never one of you idiots. We were and always be part of the Black Demon Sect. We only entered the sect to acquire the secret technique of the Mount Hua Sect; The golden scroll given to every generation of the sect leader, the 'Selfless Scripture.' We lived in this disgusting place for more than forty years. We only strive for our goal; to complete our mission. But then the previous Patriarch and Matriarch of Mount Hua Sect bought you and your martial brothers and sisters.' War orphans' as his 'personal disciple' and treated you all as his children. And the moment I saw your face, I was so disgusted by your miserable existence of yours that I wanted to destroy you and trample upon you. But then, because; of your talent, all the elders and grand elders chose you as the next patriarch, ruining our plans. Wu Guihai laughed maniacally and continued with spiteful truth;

"I know that you; want to know how I destroyed everything and everyone you hold precious. Then listen carefully as this will be the last thing you will ever hear.

First, I have your first and only love 'Xiān Ruò huā' killed by poisoning her with the most dangerous and undetectable poison ever. Later, when I saw the pain and grief; you went through after her death gave, me pleasure that I never had.

After that, I poisoned the matriarch and patriarch with the same poison. Slowly, destroying them from inside. And it worked like a miracle; she died soon enough because of the deterioration of her body.
