20 A Son of Ice and Fire

In the aftermath of the shocking news about the fall of King's Landing and the tragic fate of House Martell, The news of Lyanna Stark's whereabouts had reached Ned Stark, and he knew he had to act swiftly. He gathered his loyal men and set forth to the Tower of Joy, a remote and guarded location

...

Tower of Joy

Before the battle commenced, Ned turned to Lucifer, his voice grave. "I don't know what lies inside this tower, but I'll face it for my sister's sake. Thank you for standing by me, Lucifer."

Lucifer nodded solemnly, his eyes . " like Brandon and Benjen You've always been like a brother to me, Ned. I won't let you face this alone."

As they neared the tower, the imposing figures of the Kingsguard emerged, their white cloaks billowing like ghosts in the wind. Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning, led them with an aura of honor and regret.

Dayne spoke with a mix of respect and sorrow. "Lord Stark, we cannot allow you to pass."

Ned's voice was resolute. "I must see my sister. Let me pass, Ser Arthur."

Lucifer stepped forward, his presence a silent warning. " You shouldn't stand before us. Arthur , Rhaegar and the Mad King are both dead. Better put your sword down and surrender.." But his words were useless.

The battle erupted in a whirlwind of steel and fury. Lucifer, with his heightened senses, was a silent observer, evading attacks with preternatural grace and detecting hidden dangers that others might overlook. He moved like a shadow, striking with deadly precision.

As the clash between Lucifer and Arthur intensified, Lucifer was surprised by Dayne dazzling display of swordsmanship. They danced around each other, their blades a symphony of clashes and parries. The blows of the sword could be heard, Starlight and Dawn were at the peak of their brilliance, and they were setting up a legendary battle Between the Angel of Death and the Sword of the Morning.

Arthur Dayne spoke as they fought, his voice tinged with sadness. "Lucifer, why do you fight for them? We were sworn to protect the Targaryens."

Lucifer's response was unwavering. "My loyalty lies with those who have shown me kindness and trust, Arthur. The Starks are my family, just as Lyanna is." Lucifer said to himself, one thing I have learned over time is that no one is loyal to you and you should not be loyal to anyone, the only exception is the love of family and loved ones.

As the battle raged on, Lucifer's keen eyes caught a subtle movement in Arthur Dayne's stance. In that moment of vulnerability, Lucifer struck with deadly precision, delivering a fatal blow that left the Sword of the Morning lying on the blood-stained ground.

. As the other members of the Kingsguard fell, Lucifer and Ned stood together, facing the dying Arthur Dayne.

Dayne's voice was weak but determined. "Ned, please promise me one thing."

Ned nodded, his face filled with both sorrow and respect. "Anything, Arthur. What is it?"

"Protect my sister Ashara," Dayne whispered. "She doesn't deserve to suffer because of my choices."

Ned's expression softened. "I promise, Arthur. Your sister will be safe."

With those words, Arthur Dayne closed his eyes, knowing that his loyalty to House Targaryen had led him to this moment.

Lucifer thought to himself Most of Ned's companions were killed except for Howland Reed, which is unfortunate, but the less people who know about Lyanna's child, the better. Howland is Lyanna's good friend and has a loyal character.

As they ascended the tower's stairs, they were met with a tense silence, but their hearts pounded with anticipation. They knew that inside lay Lyanna, Ned's sister, and the key to unlocking the secrets of the Tower of Joy.

Finally, they reached the upper chambers, and there she was, Lyanna Stark, weak and worn, but alive. The sight of her brought a mixture of emotions to Ned and Lucifer's hearts. Relief, joy, and concern all mingled together.

Inside the tower, Ned finally reached his sister, Lyanna. She smiled weakly as he approached, and her eyes glistened with tears of relief. "Ned," she whispered, "you came."

Ned embraced his sister, his heart a mix of relief and concern. "I promised you I would, Lyanna. You're safe now."

In the arms of her brother, Lyanna introduced the newborn child to Ned. "His name is Jon," she said, her voice barely a whisper.

Ned looked down at the baby boy, a mix of Targaryen and Stark blood running through his veins. He felt a surge of love for this innocent life, born amidst the turmoil of war.

Lyanna's eyes moved to Lucifer, and she nodded faintly. ", Ned. His true name is Jon Targaryen. He is the son of Rhaegar and me!"

"Ned, Lucifer, you must promise me," Lyanna began, her voice soft but determined. "Take my son and protect him with all your might. Promise me you'll keep him safe from those who seek to harm him. His name is Jon, and he's of both Targaryen and Stark blood. He is our legacy."

Ned's eyes filled with emotion as he took Jon into his arms, pledging, "I swear it, Lyanna. I will raise him and keep him safe from harm. He will know the love of family and the honor of his name."

Lucifer stood by Ned's side, "Jon will have a family in both of us. I'll protect him as if he were my own son."

Lyanna's gaze shifted between them, her heart at peace knowing her child would be loved and guarded. "Thank you both. The burden of this secret weighed heavily on me, but I know I can trust you with his life."

With that assurance, Lyanna's eyes closed, and she drifted into a deep slumber. Ned gently held her hand as the weight of her revelation settled upon him.

Lucifer remembered Serena with Lyanna's death and fell into sadness again, he remembers how much Lyanna was like Serena, he had promised himself that he would not lose a loved one again, but it seems that fate has something else in store for him.

Lucifer looked at Ned, his heart heavy with the knowledge of the secret they now shared. "What do we do now, my friend?"

"We take Jon with us," Ned replied resolutely. "He is our family now, and we'll keep him safe."

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the Tower of Joy stood witness to the price of loyalty and sacrifice. Ned held Lyanna in his arms, his heart heavy with loss and love

After the heart-wrenching loss of Lyanna, Ned and Lucifer found themselves in a somber conversation, discussing the fate of Jon Snow. The weight of their promise to protect him was ever-present, but they had differing visions for Jon's upbringing.

As they stood in the quiet chamber of the Tower of Joy, their hearts heavy with grief, Lucifer broached the sensitive topic. "Ned, my dear friend, I understand the risks, but I cannot bear to see Jon hidden away as a bastard. He is of both Stark and Targaryen blood, and his destiny should be greater than a mere secret."

Ned looked troubled, wrestling with the consequences of revealing Jon's true parentage. "Luce, you know as well as I do that the realm has not been kind to the Targaryens. If we acknowledge Jon's heritage, he will be in grave danger. I want to protect him, to keep him safe from those who might harm him."

Lucifer's gaze softened, his eyes reflecting a mix of determination and compassion. "But Ned, hiding his true identity won't change who he is. He carries the blood of House stark and House Targaryen. He deserves to know his lineage and embrace his destiny as the rightful heir to Targaryen house."

Ned sighed, torn between his love for Jon and the fear of what might befall him. "I want to keep him safe, Luce. If we reveal the truth, he may become a target, just like the other Targaryens before him."

Lucifer placed a hand on Ned's shoulder, offering comfort and reassurance. "I won't deny the dangers, my friend, but I believe in Jon's resilience. We can protect him together, and he will grow up knowing the truth about his parents, about Lyanna and Rhaegar."

Ned looked into Lucifer's eyes, seeing the genuine love and care he had for Jon. "You would raise him as your own son?"

Lucifer nodded firmly. "Yes, as my own. Jon will bear the name Morningstar as my hier , a symbol of hope and strength. He will be raised with the knowledge of his heritage, and he will have the support and love of both our families."

A sense of relief washed over Ned, knowing that Lucifer's commitment to Jon's well-being was unwavering. "Very well, Luce. If you will stand as Jon's father and protector, I trust in your judgment. Together, we'll ensure his safety and guide him towards a future that honors both his Stark and Targaryen heritage."

Lucifer looked at John as he looked at him with eyes full of tears and intelligence, which was a little strange for a baby, but he didn't think much of it. John Morningstar, what a fitting name, I will raise it like a child between me and Serena and teach it all the art of murder, espionage, politics, war, and government,.... well the future won't be so dull.

With their decision made, Ned and Lucifer embraced as brothers in arms, united in their shared duty to raise Jon Morningstar, a child whose destiny would shape the fate of the Seven Kingdoms. The bond between them grew even stronger as they vowed to face whatever challenges lay ahead, all in the name of protecting the young prince with a legacy of fire and ice.

Lucifer gathered the bodies with Howland's help to move them, because they deserved to be buried and should be returned to their families.

Three people went to Dayne 's land to deliver Valerian's swords and Arthur's body to his family... As soon as they arrived, they were confronted with the news of Ashara's suicide, which made Ned sink into himself.
