Awake

It was a sensation like none other.

Falling endlessly like a shooting star hurtled into a black pitless hole. Sprinting through millions of light years vertically, within thousands of eras yet understanding that no time had passed at all.

Understandably, the being's biggest fear was that this torture would never end. Such was the torment that it had forgotten all about - who it was, from where it came from and what made it land in this ridiculous situation.

It was his destiny and his curse to bear. Still, it didn't feel any desperation. When it was very near to accepting its fate...

With a thunder, it landed.

_______________________

It was bone-chillingly cold.

Shivering, he felt the rough, hard surface beneath the body he now occupied. His new eyes felt heavy and covered in sand when he tried to blink them open. Even when he managed to do so, everything around him seemed dim. The only light coming from a distant street lamp, casting strange, eerie shadows around it.

Despite the shivers, a curious awareness dawned — he wasn't alone. While he was sprawled on the floor, someone towered over him. Moving his neck upwards, the newly transmigrated being could see the person's rod-straight posture and a silver cane whose point was very near his face. The air was thick with a sense of danger.

He struggled to sit up, but his limbs felt heavy.

"Sit up, Luan," ordered an authoritative male voice. This voice was all-business, and belonged to a pair of excruciatingly shiny black shoes and the silver cane that was right in front of the new 'Luan'.

Hearing him he tried to sit up again, only managing to kneel on his all fours. This struggle made him aware of a strange, otherworldly energy coursing through his newly acquired body.

Making him disoriented and confused further, along with angry. The being, who was not 'Luan', felt a wave of deep anger and power boiling in his core.

Like he was wronged unjustly and needed his revenge. It was a rage ready to burst out of him at any given moment.

But before that could happen, common sense prevailed and signalled the need for survival in this new world. His mind told him that he needed to make sense of his new surroundings and try to warm his frigidly dripping body temperature.

Oblivious to the thoughts racing through him, the person still standing over him ran out of patience. He calmly used one of his two feet to kick at 'Luan' lightly yet condescendingly. As if he were merely a dog, and his master was rightfully encouraging him to push further.

With this insulting touch, the new Luan felt another jolt of energy coursing through him. A deep shiver ran through his spine, and his bloody body was finally awake.

Awake in the lean muscular supernatural body, covered in black pants, a blood-soaked white shirt and a black loosened tie. Even though still freezingly cold, now this state felt weirdly natural to him.

Rising swiftly, he leaned against the wall, as if poised to spring forward, and shot a threatening glare at the possessor of the silver cane and polished shoes. Which by the way was a very handsome face in his late 40s wearing black shades, sneering right at Luan. This calm and collected person seemed pleased with the effect the kick had on the bloody person in front of him.

'How in the hell can he see me through those black glasses in this darkness?' It was the first coherent thought that crossed his mind since becoming 'Luan'.

"Good! I almost assumed that you were dead. It would have been a waste of all our efforts and time," came the casual comment right out of the attractive mouth of the dark-shades-man. "And then we would have fed you to the wolves."

Luan's jaw tightened at his remark. Not noticing the menace on his face, he continued speaking. "But now that you have woken up into our brethren, let's take care of your reviving thirst first."

And as those words hung in the air, Luan felt his fangs coming out.
