The Body

For the rest of the day were occupied by harvesting our kills. Taking ears, fangs, and some of the eyes of the big boy. His flesh proved difficult to cut, requiring more force and motion like a saw to cut. Its teeth had to be pulled out carefully, pulling on the wrong side of a tooth could cut you or slip thanks to the saliva and stab your hand on the opposite side of the mouth.

Tifa, being careful not to break a front fang held on to it tightly and pulled. "What happened there at the end, the sudden switch? Caught me off guard. "Her focus kept going back and forth between pulling and being careful of the tooth on the opposite side of the jaw.

With one foot on the lower lip and two hands holding up two teeth I held the jaw open. "My guess is that it's because it's a living creature. urgh-" This dog's breath really smelled bad, it was dead but that did not clean its breath. The stink was getting to me given how much air I took in.

"Briggs come help with this I can't keep it open." My arms began to tremble as I struggled to keep it up. "I can't keep this open much longer!"

He rushed to my aid and jammed his shield in between his upper fangs and his foot on its lower lip. "I got it I got it." I turned around on my wobbly legs, managed to take a few steps, and fell on my hands and knees. The contents of my throat came up to greet the now fresh air, now that I stepped away from the foul smell.

"Guess we found your weakness huh?" Jessie came back to us, dragging the carcasses of 2 more black dogs. "Should we really stay around Briggs? We got a big haul with these drops." She let go of them, took out one of her daggers, and started cutting their ears. "You guys sure you don't need anything from them? For a weapon or something?"

"Nah, I am ok with what I got right here" Briggs tapped his shield. "At least for now, how about you guys?" He turned his face around to ask.

"I got all I need right here." Tifa tapped her biceps.

"And I got these two here." I tapped the sides of my 2 blades. "Even if one is dull as a club and the other one is a cheap blade, does the work just fine."

After taking a breather from pulling out all the front bottom teeth of the Cerberus she turned to me "I was going to ask, why do you carry two swords? We have only seen you use the one on your shoulder."

"Training" I simply replied.

"That's all? No 'this other sword has a curse, that makes it rain hundreds of fireballs every time I swing it, but it will in time destroy the world muahaha!!!' type of secret?" Jessie struck a pose with her hands wide open and feet spread, with her back arched backward.

"Ha!! You wish!" Briggs laughed at her. "I see you still haven't given up on that fairy tale of yours."

"It's not a fairy tale... I think. Entei showed us we can enhance our weapons with magic so there must be one out there that can even cut something blessed by the goddess." She said, her pupils taking stars a star shape.

Finishing her struggle with the final fang Tifa asked. "Why would you want that?" She had lined up all the fangs on a mat and rolled it up.

"You know, just in case." She began fidgeting and scratched behind her head. "Never know what might happen, the future is quite something right?"

"Ok well, let's go search for a place to camp. We got enough for today so we can rest." Briggs moved back to the area where we left our backpacks. on his way he checked his shield over, it had deep scratch marks, bite marks with a tooth still stuck in there. "Need to repair this too."

We all got our backpacks and followed him to look for an area that looked relatively safe to make a camp. We decided to use a plateau that appeared to have originated from a wide spike. Even if it was not fully smooth it was stone that protected us from creatures that burrowed through dirt and could attack us, Sound would reach us if something tried to climb the sides to reach us.

We set up 4 small tents 2 and 2 separated between the campfire set around the middle of the plateau. Everyone opened their bags and took out dried meat, cheese, or bread. Not a nice hot meal but we weren't home or in an inn for a bigger meal but this was good enough.

Tifa kept giving me glances, prompting me to ask. "Is something the matter?:

"No no, it's just, well I wanted to know why it always since we met it feels like you are so 'immovable'," Tifa said after a moment of silence. "As if nothing can make you retreat. For example, when you are about to strike it feels like even if someone tried to hit you hard they would not even make you flinch. Is it some magic like the boost you taught us?"

"That sounds like it would be really useful for me," Briggs added.

"No that's just my body, our bodies are way more powerful than we give them credit for. Right now I'd be around level 200 if the system took into account my actual full strength, but it only reads the mana or magic my body generates and uses passively, I am not a mage so it only reads the passive mana." I brought up my arm, in my hand a stone that I crushed with no difficulty. "Boost yourselves." Waiting a moment for them to finish I Boosted myself too. "with the boost you can see when and when a large amount of magic is focused some, right now you can see a white aura around my body, I don't use it much unless I really need its but it could help you in the future. As for the body, you should learn more about its muscles and muscle groups." I probably over-explained it but well Tifa asked and I wanted to make sure she got it, I am falling into those damn old habits that kept me single.

I got up and walked away from them and turned around 5 steps away "Tifa come and punch me as hard as you can." I said, pointing at my right hand's palm using my left.

She got up, walked toward me stopped a few feet away from me, got into position, and for a moment looked like she was gonna give her everything and wreck my hand but when she let go her arm sprang into motion. Her fist made contact with my palm and made a loud slapping sound, my palm moved back a few centimeters facing away from my body, redirecting most of the force away from it and Tifa stood with her fist out and her eyes wide.

"How did you do that?" She asked when she broke out of her stupor.

"Take that stance again," I ignored her question and stepped around her. My eyes caught her form and it was a beauty, not the same many people considered a woman's body beautiful since I saw her muscles under her skin. "Pull your elbow a few more millimeters, don't tighten your armpits so much let it have a little give. Don't straighten your back too much let it arch a little, move your left foot a quarter step inward, and your right foot half a step back." I let her hold that position a little longer for her body to get used to holding and adjusting to it. "Yeah that is looking better, now do it again, try hitting the air this time," I took two steps back and brought back my vision.

A moment later she let go of her fist, small shockwave was produced from where her fist ended its movement, followed by the sound of a wips sound.

Tifa and the rest were silent. "Would say that is the limit of what one could achieve but there is magic, and with it in play I'd say there are no limits to what anyone can achieve. One can even become as powerful as the goddess or more."

I moved back to my seat to eat. A moment later Tifa rushed to my side and started eating. You got any tips for me?" Briggs came back at the same time she sat side down. "To keep myself stable while blocking." Jessie then jumped with a raised hand, "Oh me too me too some tips for holding the bows."

"He can help us if he wants but let's leave it for tomorrow, let's wrest for tonight. Whose taking the first watch?" Tifa took a drink from her canteen.

"I'll take the first watch, you guys rest." I volunteered. All of them looked very tired so they took their leave to their tents to rest.
