General Info
Hello! This is a simple lore dump for anyone who is coming to read the story, or who has been reading it for a while and needs a refresher. There won't be any story spoilers in this, just character descriptions and world descriptions.
I. Main Characters:
1. Ash:
Ash is an 18-year-old half-demon. She is 6'2" (or around 184cm) tall and weighs 127lbs (57kg). At 12-years-old, Ash was abandoned by her parents for reasons unknown to her. Thanks to that, she grew up homeless and alone, on the streets of Jade. This experience turned her into a jaded individual, one who generally hates the people around her and only looks out for herself.
Like all other half-demons, Ash has long white hair and a pair of small black horns on her forehead. Through years of running away from both police and criminals, Ash's body has become toned.
2. Keiko:
Keiko Zayama, also 18, belongs to Jade's oldest and proudest family, the Zayama clan. Thanks to this, she has a unique ability that she was born with called the Spirit Eye, which allows her to see two seconds into the future and allows her to look through other people's eyes. The drawback though is that those with Zayama blood in them grow up blind until they are able to unlock their Spirit Eye. This is a problem because Keiko still hasn't unlocked hers, even though most people do so during their early puberty.
Keiko is 5'0" (152cm) tall, and weighs 114lbs (51kg). She has smooth, black hair and fair skin, but has calloused small hands thanks to the years of weapons training that she's undergone. Like other Zayamas, Keiko wears a blindfold to let those around her know that she still hasn't unlocked her Spirit Eye.
3. Kaori:
20 years old, Kaori Okada is Ash's complete opposite. Born to a loving family, and a community that has supported her throughout her entire life, she is the ultimate optimist. Never one to hold back a smile, she's lived a life filled with friendship, romance, and happiness, one that changes when she meets Ash though.
Kaori has short blonde hair that just about touches her shoulders. She is 5'5" (163cm) tall and weighs 120lbs (54kg). She is fairly athletic also, as she has kept herself in shape throughout most of her life.
II. World: Nova
Nova is a vast land that can change drastically from one place to another. With a snow-covered northern region and a desert that comprises the south, depending on where you go you might have a completely different experience.
Each of its individual sectors though is divided by a World Level. That is a measurement of the average level of the monsters there. For example, just outside of Sapphire, one could run into enemies that are level 30, whereas south and near Jade there are mostly level 1 enemies.
III. Cities
1. Jade:
The Capital of the Jewel Empire. Features old but elegant architecture, with its main colors being gold and white, the city is not afraid to show off its brilliance. This fact is reflected in its people, as mostly the ambitious sorts are the ones who end up living here. As Jade is located at the very heart of Nova, it is mostly cosmopolitan, which means that people from all over the world can show up here.
2. Pearl:
Located west of Jade, this is the smallest, but also one of the oldest, cities in Nova. Each of the cities that surround Jade features their own ways of thought and nowhere is this more evident than Pearl, as the people of this city seem more concerned with art and culture than anything in the business or military world. It is an open-minded place and a favorite for any aspiring artist to live in. The old buildings are mostly painted pink and the monsters that live around the city are fairly low-level, which adds to the feeling of comfort Pearl's inhabitants feel.
3. Sapphire:
Located north of Jade, this is known as the City of Ice thanks to its snow-covered nature. Nested in icy plains, this city is one of the most perilous to travel to. Not only is it dangerous to go there thanks to the weather, but the region is also known for being home to many dangerous monsters.
4. Onyx:
Located east of Jade, the Grey City is home to the cutting edge of technology. As factories became prominent recently in the city, the machines and mechanisms present there surpass even Jade itself in quality. Most people who live around here are interested only in working, with a few rare exceptions.
5. Amber:
Located far, far to the south, not much is known about Amber, to the Jewel Empire's general population. It is hidden in a canyon, surrounded by the most dangerous creatures in all of Nova. Because of this, the people who live there had to develop ways to protect themselves, and this led Amber to become the center of Magic, and magical research, in the world.
IV. Current Time:
The story begins in 1860, the Year of Magia as the years alternate from one deity to another in a four-year cycle that goes from Magia, to Lumina, to Alkoth, and then to Niven. Approximately one and a half thousand years ago, the gods were prominent parts of the world, and would regularly be seen by average citizens. However, something changed, and the first demons were created. That was the beginning of a war against demons that has lasted over a thousand years.
V. The Gods:
1. Magia:
The goddess of lust, creation, and passion. It is said that Magia was the first of the gods and the one who created the world as it is today.
2. Lumina:
The goddess of love, peace, and empathy. It is said she was the second that appeared, to regulate Magia's uncontrolled ambition.
3. Alkoth:
The god of fairness, order, and justice. It is said he appeared when the balance of power among Magia's creations became uncontrolled and wild.
4. Niven:
The god of death, wrath, and war. It is said he was the last and youngest of the gods, appearing to prevent the world from entering stagnation, as all things must eventually die.
