LUNA'S POV

The only thing that always haunts us and sticks with us no matter how much we run from it is our pasts. We tend to hide in the shadows hoping everything will be okay but, the past will still be there. It will lurk in the deepest shadows of your dreams then turn into your nightmares.

For years now we have been on the run, taking up space in hidden parts of the city. I've gotten used to running for my life. War is my friend and my mode of survival.

"Luna, your brother and his pack are causing trouble again."

Malik says as he makes his way through the front door. I straighten up in my seat and tuck a few strands of hair behind my ear.

"Let us ignore them hoping they'll go away."

I say not quite audibly.

"You always say this Luna. How many times are we gonna back down?"

I lick my dry lips and stare at Malik. The bandage wrapped around his arm is stained with blood.

"Malik you are not even well yet."

"Don't bother about me or my arm. All we need to worry about is your brother."

I take in a deep breath and look away.

"I want us to stay out of trouble."

Malik takes a few stride towards me and is infront of me before I can blink.

*Damn vampire.*

I say in my head.

"Luna, you are putting your pack in danger. Tell them to stand their grounds and fight."

Malik raises his voice a little.

"I'll be putting them in more danger if I tell them to go. Levi's pack is stronger than mine!"

I snap.

"That is what you think Luna. You are a good alpha. You have led this pack in a way I've never seen. Luna you can do this. Aren't you tired of hiding? Don't you wanna go home?"

I chuckle at his last statement.

"Home? You say Home? I have no home. They chased me out the minute they found out I was the oracle's daughter but had no powers. They chose Levi cuz he was stronger and they believed his powers will manifest."

Malik sighs in defeat. He looks at me one last time and walks out.

I let out a shaky breath and stare into space. The memories still haunt me. All those painful rituals they performed on me. The insults I received from the women, the nasty comments the men threw at me.

The hurt was still so much. My heart still feels heavy. Overwhelmed by all these emotions, I let out a howl. Two of my pack members rush in.

"Alpha, we heard your cry is everything ok?"

Rook my beta asks.

"Yes, I'm fine."

He doesn't seem convinced but he let's it go.

"Alpha, today we received three new people. They want to join the pack."

Scarlet says.

I stand up from the seat.

"Take me to them."

We head out and start moving towards the yard. Other pack members are already there.

"The Alpha is here!!"

Rook shouts and everyone looks in our direction. I keep my head up high with confidence.

"Where are the strangers."

I demand with a stern voice. Three people emerge from the crowd. Two guys and a girl.

The girl has strawberry blonde hair and brown eyes.She has a slim figure. One of the guys has the same shade of strawberry blonde hair as the girl and same brown eyes. I'm guessing they are brother and sister. The last guy who looks older than them but not too old, has black hair and grey eyes. He is a large build man.

"Give me names."

I order.

"I'm Malice."

The girl says with her head still down.

"These are my brothers James and Terrance."

She says pointing to the two guys. James is the one with similar features to her while Terrance is the one with grey eyes.

"We want to be members of your pack. You see, we are the last surviving members of our pack."

she explains.

"What happened to your pack."

I ask intrigued.

"We were attacked by the West field pack."

*That is Levi's pack.*

"Very well then. We will initiate you into our pack. Is there anything else I should know?"

Terrance for the first time meets my gaze.

"Well, I am also an alpha."

Terrance says.

I don't say anything.

"You will have to choose then. Either you challenge her for the position of pack Alpha or you fall in line as a member."

Rook says.

"I challenge!"
