Chapter Seventeen

Alcmene Argent

I start coming to, my head fuzzy and throbbing.

Where am I?

I look around and all I see is metal and I feel trapped, alone in a metal cage. I start to panic before more voices enter my head-literally.

Mate

Calm we are near. We are safe.

I look to my left and the memories hit me. Getting captured by Elijah, becoming a hybrid, mating Eli, fighting, escaping, finding Qamar, rescuing Eli, Melisande with Guillotine-V, the fear, healing her, and getting captured by aliens.

. . .

Blink. Blink.

I slowly start to come to. I try to open my eyes, but they feel too heavy and the light I find when they are opened is blinding and makes the pain in my head intensify. I feel an urgency to open them up and look around, but the pain and fatigue overcome that need and pull me back under with the (creepily) comforting lulling mechanical hum.

I shoot up finally fully. I look around as my eyes adjust to the bright waking light. We are surrounded by metal and for a second it reminds me of Doc's office, but this is…Worse?

I mean it is creepier, I was kidnapped and separated from my family, and they are unknown but at the same time technically they hadn't harmed us or proven unsafe in any way…yet.

I don't trust these aliens that are apparently relatives but I will live with it for now.

The I hear footsteps coming this way.
