25 Boss (1)

The chances of Kane finding stronger monsters on the other side of the dungeon were quite big… so he decided to kill every single monster he found in order to level up and store some energy. So, even though it would be a big headache, he decided to attack that ordinary spider using Water Balls. Until the creature dies or until it notices that Kane wouldn't leave it alone.

Although Kane didn't allocate a single point in magic, by leveling up alone, Water Ball was almost two times stronger than before. So, it didn't take long for the spider to receive some damage and leave its nest.

The spider used one thin thread that Kane couldn't understand how could support the spider; the creature went down quite fast… However, as soon as the beast entered its range and even before it could land on the ground, Kane charged forward to attack.

As expected, his max speed couldn't compare with an ordinary spider. Kane slashed his claws in the monster's face without even letting the creature notice the moment he began to run. That being said, Kane was fast and managed to land the first blow and damage several of the spider's eyes, but he wasn't strong enough to kill it before the spider could react. The beast, enraged, advanced showing its purple fangs and aiming at Kane's head, but even while feeling shivers, Kane could walk backward faster than the spider could charge forward.

"Phew… I guess investing in a single stat isn't such a bad idea. It really pays off in the right circumstances and places, but slimes and ants probably aren't that have that kind of specialization. If anything, I'm pretty sure that it will be hard to find monsters that are jack of all trades."

The spider tried to charge again, but it wasn't fast enough to attack Kane. Unfortunately, he couldn't take his sweet time tiring the spider out. Kane heard the sound of a bat approaching, so he had to finish that quickly.

"Water Ball!"

Kane didn't have much mana left, but only a single Water Ball would do the trick. The creature blocked the projectile using two paws, but that also made the beast lose visual contact with Kane for a single moment. The moment the spider lowered its feet, Kane was there and about to slash his claws again.

(Congratulations! You killed an enemy. You received two reincarnation points.")

Before Kane could relax, the bat finally appeared and also tried to attack him without giving much thought to it. In the end, Kane received the full power of the bat's charge, but by accepting that, he had the chance to slash both of his claws and attack the bat's neck using Bloody Bite.

(Congratulations! You killed an enemy. You received two reincarnation points.")

In the blink of an eye, Kane recovered from the damage received and also killed the bat. Without making much of a ceremony, Kane started to eat… at that point in time. He wasn't eating because he was hungry. It looked like monsters could eat freely to store energy. Even though half an hour ago he had eaten a spider that was bigger than him, he still had some room to eat a bat and another spider.

"It will be best if I don't think too much about this… I should just think that it is happening because this is a magical world."

(Congratulations! You ate an enemy. You received two reincarnation points.")

(Congratulations! You ate an enemy. You received two reincarnation points.")

Although it seemed a bit silly to say that magic was the explanation of every single thing, it wasn't like Kane had any other explanation. Besides, he wanted to survive, not understand monster physiology.

"Anyway… I didn't see a single Bloody Ant so far. Does that mean that most of them die before even they are born? Even if that is the case, I didn't find any ant-lying eggs either. Well, there is always the chance that dumb monsters even eat the eggs shell."

Since Kane was aware that monsters could spawn like slimes out of nowhere, it was a bit weird that spiders could spawn just like that alongside eggs. Now that Kane thought about it, he didn't find any coins near the monsters' bodies. He was pretty sure that slimes weren't supposed to be the only monster that could drop them.

"This world is bizarre… but it is clear that in this place, the survival of the fittest is one of the few clear things. Most likely, monsters only drop coins when humans kill them. Still, I can't help but wonder why the humans would use the coins when it is clear that the coins have been made by a god-like being. Besides, there is always the chance that by killing monsters non-stop, too much money would overflow to the mercy of this world... What the hell do I think about it? It is not like this shit can help me."

Regardless, it wasn't like even if Kane could get coins, he would be able to use them. Only human societies would be organized enough to use those, and it was clear that he wasn't welcome in any human society of that world.

Although low-leveled bats and spiders weren't a problem for him anymore, Kane still decided to walk carefully without making too much noise. His best weapons were his human mind, his claws, and the speed to attack without giving time for the monsters to react, after all. Still, despite that, he didn't find as many bats as he thought he would encounter while heading to the east side of the dungeon.

There was plenty of dead-end on the north side of the dungeon, but Kane didn't find a single spider… not even their nests full of threads. Kane's assumption that they spawned on the west side was becoming quite certain. Now he just had to confirm where the bats spawned.

"I'm earning less experience, and the monsters aren't coming anymore… is this a feature of the system? Assuming that monsters can evolve after reaching certain levels, it would be wise to do difficult things a little bit, but… Well, maybe monsters have instincts better than me, and that is why they aren't coming as frequently anymore."

Kane was smarter, but the dead-brain monsters had better instincts. Although that was troublesome for him, it was only natural that things would be like that to make things more equal. Regardless, Kane had plenty of energy left, so he didn't worry about running out of fuel before reaching the other side of the dungeon.
