3 Chapter 3: School life

Allen reaches school after running for 20 minutes. The orphanage is 3km away from his school. He slows his speed when he is at the farm and when seeing the soldiers and so, it took him 20 minutes to reach the school.

He does it out of respect for the soldiers and to admire them as they are the first line of defence in times of monster horde.

Allen is a shy person and doesn't talk to anyone except his brothers and sisters from the orphanage. So, he doesn't have many friends at school.

Allen stops at the front gate of his school. He has been running to school for 3 years so his breathing is still regular and has only a few drops of sweat formed on his forehead.

He wanted to keep his body fit and hence follows a strict diet and exercise routine. He never hesitates to practice archery and sword fight to improve his fluency.

"Hello Allen! You are late today." He hears a girl of his age saying this to him from near the school gate with a bright smile on her face.

"Hello Kim! It is nice to see you early at least once a year" Allen replied to her with a smile of his own.

Kim is the only friend Allen has in school. She is the daughter of the Village head and his classmate. They practice together a few times together and like to see who is strong.

Their class schedule is simple. In the morning, they will do exercises like running, pull-ups, push-ups, squats and other body and muscle-building exercises.

In the afternoon after lunch, it will be training classes where they learn sword fighting, spear fighting, archery, martial arts etc, to improve their fighting.

This will be the schedule for all the students who are about to complete high school. It helps them to go through military training with ease, or they thought so.

Allen has chosen to be an archer and Kim is a spear fighter. Allen also learns sword fighting just in case he has to get involved in close combat.

In the evening, after school is over, students have to play with their tamed monsters to get to know them and their powers more. It is their daily assignment for 2 years now.

Getting to know about a pet's power will allow the pet master to fight monsters effectively as monsters can control elements and can be used for both offence and defence.

Allen already knows about Serina's powers as they are together for 4 years. All Allen has to do is to integrate with her so she can become his pet and he will get her Fire creating and controlling power along with the increase in speed, and some strength since Serina is a fire elemental wolf with speed.

She is not as good with speed as her ability is fire and not wind or lighting. But she is still faster than other firey wolves. Allen always wondered if Serina is special because of this.

He wanted to integrate with her as quickly as possible to test his theory.
