Chapter 6: Rewards

Noah looked at his surroundings, due to the collateral damage all of the tents had been partially destroyed, he looted all the tents and gained a few items that he would be able to sell to a merchant, there were some weapons as well but they were all F rank weapons that weren't worth even selling, at most they would sell for 1 or 2 bronze coins.

Now Noah decided to look at the rewards that he had gained.

The most valuable one was easily the C-rank skill book, skills were separated by ranks just like monster parts were, from F to S, and then some ultra-rare skills that went higher.

Noah looked at the dark blue book in his hands, a C-rank skill would help him out immensely, in his own timeline he had gotten his first C-rank skill at level 40 by getting lucky, he had partied up with some very good players who were feeling kind and let him pick the boss drops first, where he had selected a C-rank skill book.

A C-rank skill would allow him to easily stay ahead of the competition for quite a while, the only things that dropped skill books were certain NPC quests, bosses, achievements, and some dungeons.

Noah clicked on the skill book and a screen with information appeared floating in front of him.

[C-rank Skill book

Description: Grants you a random C-rank skill, only usable by one person, can be traded, can be activated by saying "learn skill".]

The description was quite straightforward.

"Learn skill" Noah said out loud.

A wheel with a bunch of different skills appeared in front of Noah, the wheel spun rapidly and within a few seconds stopped on a skill.

[Silent Step

Rank: C

Description: Silent Step allows you to remove your presence completely including heartbeat, and blood flow, and hides your mana, it completely erases any sound you create and improves stealth capabilities by 100%.]

Noah nodded to himself, he would have been much happier with an attack skill as he could already do most things this skill could do but this wasn't that bad, it would allow him to sneak around a lot easier, mostly because it could hide his mana, something that he himself could not yet do, it would make certain missions far easier, and would allow him to kill steal and loot steal if he ever needed to, some would consider this as a dirty and scumbag like thing to do but quite frankly, Noah didn't care, he didn't care about most other players the only people he actually wanted to save from the events of the future were his friends, saving humanity would come second.

Noah disregarded his thoughts and looked at the next reward he had gotten.

[Dark Bear transformation

Rank: E

Description: Allows you to partially transform your body into that of a dark bear, you gain 5 points of strength, 5 points of vitality, and 10 points of physical defense in this mode.

Uses 10 mana per minute.]

There were two types of major monster drops, monster parts, and monster transformations, with parts you could permanently change your body into that of a monster's, and with transformation, you could temporarily transform yourself, transformations were stronger in a sense that they granted more stat points, but they were not permanent so most players preferred having better monster parts, but Noah was still quite happy with this monster transformation, it granted him strength, vitality, and defense which would all be very useful no matter what situation he was in.

Noah opened his status and put the bear transformation into the transformation tab, it would allow him to transform with just a thought.

Another thing was the Exp he had gained, he had leveled up twice and gained ten stat points, the good thing was that levels didn't affect training areas, for example if someone had never used a training area before even if they were level 100 they would still be able to raise their vitality by 10 points just by using the wooden dummies that Noah a level 1 used.

Sadly they only granted those points once so doing the same training at two different places wouldn't benefit you, different training methods would though so that was the best way to quickly gain some easy stat points.

Noah looked over his rewards and was immensely satisfied, he was most likely the strongest person in the game right now, there shouldn't be any people with a D-rank skill around let alone a C-rank and his experience put him lightyears ahead of everyone else, now he only had to level up by using some mass grinding methods and he would easily stay at the top of the rankings.

Noah started heading back towards the village, he still had to talk to Gerald and receive his rewards from him, Noah already knew the skill he would gain from him so that wouldn't be much of a surprise but that certain skill was quite useful so Noah wanted to get it quickly.

Within 30 minutes Noah arrived back at the entrance to the village, there were a few more guards this time, at night monsters became a lot more active and would spawn at higher rates and with double the numbers, that is also why there weren't that many players out, monsters from the forest would often leave and travel around the open plains where level 1 slimes were located so it was quite dangerous for beginner players without a party.

Noah entered the village without any difficulty and headed to the training grounds.

Gerald was arguably the strongest person in the village other than the village lord so he was up almost every day only taking rest a few times a week, often only once, so Noah could immediately go to Gerald without having to wait until the morning.

Noah knocked on the door leading to Gerald's office and entered after hearing Gerald say enter.

Gerald looked surprised, "Noah, you're already back! I figured this quest would take you at least a day or two figuring you're still quite weak but to think that you've done it this quickly, I guess I'll teach you a more special skill." Gerald said to Noah while standing up.

Gerald walked over to a large bookcase on the left side of the room and picked out a blue book.

Noah's eyes widened slightly, blue books usually meant something C-rank so he couldn't wait to see what it was.

Gerald continued talking after he took out the book "Originally I wanted to teach you the skill [Heavy strike] but seeing your accomplishments I feel like [Vital Cut] will be a much better fit for you." Gerald handed Noah the book as he finished talking.

"Now I trust that you can learn how to use this skill for yourself, if you're interested in some quests you can go to the village lord, I heard he had been having problems lately so I bet he could give you a few quests." Gerald handed Noah an iron emblem "This emblem will allow you to meet the lord easier and will keep you out of trouble with the guards, the law will still apply to you so don't do anything dumb." Gerald laughed and patted Noah on the shoulder.

Noah thanked the man and left the building to train.

Noah held the book in his hands and quickly learned the skill that was imbued in it.

[Vital Cut

Rank: C

Description: Vital Cut is the most basic skill any advanced warrior should learn, it will 100% give you critical damage, and all weapon damage will be doubled when using this skill.

Requires 200 mana per cast]

Noah was grinning widely, this skill essentially doubled the damage his weapons did and made it so all attacks with the skill were also guaranteed critical hits, which once again doubled his damage.

Too bad the mana requirement was so high, he would need to spend some time raising his INT stat to be able to effectively use the skill he had just gotten.

Noah decided to do the rest of the training that he could before leaving to raise his level.
