Rampage

According to the data in the Monster Hunter Society, to summon a monster, the Linked must put immense focus on the process of summoning. It usually takes at least 30 - 40 minutes to summon the entire beast to the location even with this process. When they start this summoning process, a great wave of energy surrounds a widespread area, enough to cover a city. 

Hence, the location of the Linked was so hard to find. 

However, there are incidents where the Monster Emergence has happened with the summoning process only taking mere seconds. 

Such incidents are called a "Rampage."

But when a Rampage happens, the link between the Monster and the human grows stronger. Hence posing a threat to both the human and the Monster.

BOOM! 

A large force of energy blasted through the city of Kansas. All the lights in the city went off for a couple of minutes. 

However, even in the utter darkness, something shined in the skies. Screams resonated in the city as humans started to run through the dark streets. 

Cars crashed. 

Buildings crumbled to the ground. 

With the height of the tallest buildings in the city, a gigantic monster lizard stood tall in the middle of the city with its eyes flaming with a red blaze. 

The Black Lizard had emerged. 

It was a massive beast with the shape of a lizard, but obviously much larger. It had two long curved horns in its head, scales and spikes running along its dark body, and limbs larger than a supermart. 

Dark felt as if the city built by the humans was like a small field of grass for it to run on. Only, there was no grass. Only buildings. 

And the insects running in the streets were much tastier than what he had hunted thousands of years ago. 

With the power of the entire city gone, the metal walls could not be activated. 

Even the energy generators were busted for a few seconds because of the massive wave of energy that blasted through the city.

"Yuna, it is our chance to destroy as much as we can. Hopefully, we'll be able to get that Mister Intern before the walls come up," Dark spoke in Yuna's head. 

At this moment, Yuna was not just holding the summoning gate from the spirit domain to the real world. She was connected to Dark's Monster body and even the gigantic lizard's head. 

She was able to see what the massive monster perceived. 

She and Dark had merged into one.

"Yes, Dark. Let's destroy these bastards," she replied calmly. 

The massive Black Lizard raised its limb and struck it right through the middle of a tall building. It went right through as the upper part of the building came crashing down to its lower half. 

The tail of the beast swung across the streets, sweeping everyone caught on its way. 

The Black Lizard was a fast creature. It needed to swing its tail across the city, hop about, and stretch its limbs by running across this new field to adapt to it. The bodily urges of the lizard were tempting it to do just that. 

But those weren't the only things it was capable of. Dark was not just a simple lizard turned massive. He was a Titan with godly powers.

The Black Lizard opened its jaws wide and shifted its head toward a building. Flames poured out from the sides of its jaws. 

GRARR!!

With a resonating roar, it burst the flames out of its mouth into a building, melting the concrete as if it were plastic melting down in the flames. 

On top of the already dead hundreds of people who were poisoned, the casualties of the attack were shooting up the numbers by the second. 

Every time the Black Lizard's tail flew into the air, at least 10 deaths were confirmed.

Time: 07:11 PM 

Location: The Interior of Hideyaki Meme's room 

The two friends, Jogu and Meme, were walking around Meme's room with unrest in their minds. They had to solve the problem of this Monster girl or there was a potential threat to Meme's life. 

"Should we really bring her in?" Meme questioned, attempting to pull out his hair. "I can't man. I can't – she saved my life." 

Jogu wiped the sweat off his forehead. "Yeah… but imagine the casualties when she starts her Monster Emergence. What do you say about that? The amount of dead piling up in the grave man. We won't be able to fill the graveyards with them." 

Meme sat down on his bed, pushing his face into his hands. "I don't know." 

Flick. 

Suddenly, the lights of their apartment went out. 

Meme and Jogu gazed at each other in shock, but they were unable to see each other's faces. 

Meme took the phone lying beside him in bed and switched on his flashlight. Jogu switched on his too, flashing the light on Meme's face. They both looked terrified. 

"A monster emergence?" Meme asked Jogu. 

An earth-shaking roar resounded in the city the very next moment, conforming their theory. The two of them rushed toward the window of their room and slid it open right away. 

In the distance, the Black Lizard had emerged. 

Two buildings collapsed right in front of their eyes. The entire city was dark. The honking sounds of cars and the screams of people emerged from the distant streets. 

The screams came like a tidal wave until it reached the street where the "Cheap Rooms for Students in Debt" building was. 

Jogu and Meme gazed at each other. 

"What the fuck is happening?" Meme asked Jogu. 

"People are dying," Jogu replied. 

The Black Lizard burst flames out of its mouth toward a building lying next to it, melting it like a candlestick. Meme's jaw dropped. 

"Where the hell are the walls, man?" He cried out in fear. 

A gust of wind blew against their faces, blowing away Meme's silver hair. Jogu fixed his glasses with a dead serious look on his face. 

"The power is gone because the gateway opened by that Monster Link was too strong. It's a Rampage, not a Monster Emergence. The power won't be back for a while – and the walls won't be up for a while either. We might be…" 

Jogu turned to face Meme with a frown. "Fucked."
