Professor Jane

15th of September.

Location: Exterior of "Cheap Rooms for Students in Debt"

Time: 06:00

The cold mist hung over the streets as Hideyaki Meme stood at the footsteps of his apartment building. To battle the cold, he had a red scarf hung around his neck and a sweater over his uniform.

He checked the time on his phone, annoyed.

"Dammit, Miss Jane told me she'd be here by five forty and she's still not here. Are women always late?" He pondered.

After a few seconds, a Harley Davidson roared through the silent alley and pulled up right before him. The girl on the bike took off her helmet and swung her long blue hair around.

"Hey, my lovely student. Were you waiting for me?"

"Yes. You are like 20 minutes late already… Miss Jane. What the hell happened?"

"Well, you know. As a woman, you know I need to do makeup and take my time dressing up like a lovely lady."

She was dressed in a thick dark leather suit that pressed against her body so tightly it seemed as if she was going to pop.

"I doubt that," Meme replied almost instantly.

"Well. True, my students know me too well. I was taking a dump for like 30 minutes, man… It was awful!" Professor Jane moaned, making a cute pouty face.

"Nah, that's just too much info now."

"Mhm. Now, get on the bike or we'll be late. I needed you to come with me so that I can teach you everything a Monster Hunting Intern should know."

'Finally…' Meme smiled excitedly.

He hopped onto the back of her Harley and prepared himself for the ride.

"Oh yeah, hold on very tightly, by the way… I'm a speed demon," Jane smirked.

Meme looked around him and wondered where to hold onto. "Where exactly?"

"Me, you stupid. Just don't grope my breasts too hard. I might make a loud moaning sound and lose focus on the road."

"I'm not a pervert, Professor Jane," Meme replied, softly placing his fingers around Miss Jane's waist. The woman shook her head, grasping Meme's hands and pushing them forward so he was pressed against her back.

"Every man is a pervert. You can't tell me otherwise. And –" she locked her student's hands around her stomach. "This is how you hold on tightly… to a woman."

Meme gulped.

The woman started her bike, and the engine roared. Before Meme knew it, the bike was speeding through the streets of Kansas at an alarming speed.

Meme did not know where she was taking her exactly. The only information she had given him on the call yesterday night was that she was about to take him on a field trip.

"So… where are we going now?" He cried out from behind.

The wind was pressing hard against his ears. He had ridden on enough bikes to know that the voices were hardly audible when they were riding at lightspeed.

"WHAT????" Professor Jane cried out to Meme.

Even with the wind blocking his ears, Meme was sure that scream was enough to make his ears bleed. Though, his ears could hardly discern that voice.

"WHERE ARE WE GOING??" Meme cried out even louder in her ears.

Jane's ears began to ring. "I - Jeez… I can hear you, you idiot. Keep it down a notch."

"WHAT???"

Professor Jane winced. 'What can I do with this hopeless bastard?'

For the next 10 minutes, Meme screamed at Jane hopelessly in an attempt to ask her where she was taking her. No matter how hard he tried, he wasn't able to hear her.

Finally, they arrived near a gate.

Meme panted heavily, rubbing off the sweat from his forehead. His head was spinning from the ride.

"Are we here?"

Jane nodded. "We're here, my dear student."

They had arrived at a tall gate with a few guards at its entrance. The board at the entrance read "Monster Hunter Institute, Kansas Sector 3." After gazing at the name, Meme had a clear idea of what her 'field trip' actually meant.

The two guards at the door approached the Professor.

"Professor Jane?"

The guards already knew her. She was an S-rank Monster Hunter, after all. They should know her immediately, considering her popularity.

"Yes, Jaimie. Open the gates, will you? I need to give a field trip to my student over here. I'm dedicating the day to him. I take my students very seriously," she turned to Meme and smirked.

The guard gazed at me, raising his eyebrow. He raised his hand and signaled his fellow guard in the control room.

The gates slowly opened and the Harley moved forth.

Inside the gates was a gigantic building. One look at it from the outside would simply compare it to a storehouse of a big company. It looked as if it only had a single floor. Yet, that wasn't the truth.

This was one of the main bases of the Monster Hunter Society in Kansas. They say it had hundreds of floors below that building. Meme was moments away from confirming the stories with his own eyes.

The Professor and her student stepped off the bike from the parking lot. Many other luxury cars were parked there too.

Fearris and Teslas.

'This confirms that Monster Hunters are obviously rich,' Meme said inwardly.

"Follow me, Meme." Professor Jane said, stepping toward the door which had a sign reading "staff only." Meme read the sign and hesitated for a moment.

Jane raised her eyebrow at him. "Are you scared? I'm an S-rank Hunter. One of their greatest Hunters. Even if they want to – they can't lose me. Which means they won't mind if I break staff only rules." She smirked.

Meme nodded and followed his teacher.

They stepped in through the door and arrived at a room entirely painted in white.

People wearing lab coats were running here and there, carrying test tubes and weird metal parts. It was a scene right out of a sci-fi movie.

Well, after the First Emergence, those sci-fi movies weren't fiction anymore.

They didn't even bat an eye at Meme as they walked by. They were too focused on their work. Not a single minute to waste.

"Damn, these scientists work this early in the morning?" Meme asked.

Professor Jane chuckled. "Yeah. The Butterfly Emergence just happened a few days ago, Meme. When a Monster Emergence happens – their work increases. Not like us working in the warrior sector who only appear in the field when that happens."

Meme took one last glance at the laboratory lying right next to him.

Everyone was rushing inside, peeking in through microscopes with specimens and all sorts of scientific stuff in their hands. He had no clue what they were doing.

He hated science. But – science played a major part in saving lives. So he didn't judge the scientists.

Professor Jane rested her hand on Meme's shoulder. "Yo. Come along now. We have a long trip today – if we hurry up… we can buy some drinks on the way home. It's on you, though."

With a completely unimpressed look, Meme turned to his Professor. "Hell no. You're the rich one here."

"Jeez… Be a man, Meme-kun. Where did you learn how to treat your lady properly?"
