1 Chapter 1 GOBLIN ATTACK

I am Catherine , an orphan girl living in a rural village outskirts to the city . Though i never admit it , people around me always praise me for my peerless beauty . With already close to 169 cm in height which i guess will not grow any taller since it will be my Nineteenth birthday next month . My chest is hanging down a lot as my breast has already grown to 'E' cup in size while the butt has taken a rounder and firm shape from my daily exercising . I too have a rare variant of purple-redish eyes and Reflective Blue Black Hair Color.

FIVE years ago i was forced to move in this deserted palace because my parents passed away after becoming the victims of a Vampire's blood thirst . Afterwards , being the useless orphan of a low level Adventurer I become the target to bully by the local tyrants and in desperate attempt to leave that place , I can only sign up for a expansion team in a newly conquered land . But now this place has become my new home . The not so old villagers treats me kindly and will provided with some miscellaneous work to earn a living . The whole day usually passes in cleaning the dishes , cooking some food , washing the clothes and in exchange i get to receive three meals a day .

Unlike the cities our villages really lack the means of recreation and varied activities making our hopeless more and more dull. In the city after children reach the age of FIFTEEN years , they are taken to the Rebecca Church's Annual Awakening Ritual by the Adventurer Guild . There , the high priest will chant some holy scriptures' to awaken a class. A class is something that will show or sometimes even upgrade the thing you are talented in . For instance , a swordsman class will give you the better talent for wielding the sword while a 'SWORDSAINT' will improve your overall abilities and starting point by several times . Also , the awakening come up with two most important things - APPRAISAL and STATS OPTION.

Well , in my case i have already miss the best time to awaken but i am still betting on the untraditional way to become an adventurer which my mother used to tell me , how the ancient people can suddenly become an awaken after repeatedly working on the same thing . Over the years , i have already tried pretty much everything i could think of in this aspect , Magic , Alchemy , Weapons , Holy chants of a priest but nevertheless did i succeed .

I didn't mean to appear disappointed on failing to awaken at the right time but i knew the fact i haven't work hard enough yet and in the future there will be a day when i will become a really really strong person .

" OHH , The sky is pretty clear . I guess the sister next door will get married without being delayed from the weather tonight . " I whisper before going back at my house.

Soon the day passed quietly . In the evening , I wore a blue colored new dress after preparing a gift for the couple . Around 8:00 PM i entered the venue for the party and after giving a lot of blessing to bride and groom , i started digging the various delacy prepared for tonight . From time to time , i will also heard a lot of people teasing me to get married too ....Unfortunately , there isn't a decent man left in the village who i can feel like falling for .

" Albert move back to the guard post " suddenly the person responsible for patrolling tonight roared in the siren , calling for the groom to move back to his duty .

WIth a puzzled face we look back to wooden walls guarding the villages and the view they saw almost made everyone gasped for some breathe. The wall is climbed up by hundreds of nasty and short and green goblins . The entire village consists of only 80 people including old and young , man and women , Ordinary and awakeners . In the population alone they are greatly outnumbered by the enemy not counting the fact every single Goblin has a strength level of F class and they hardly has ten awakeners for a successful counterattack.

Goblins have short body which barely reaches 122 cm in heights , thin legs and bulgy stomach yet speed is their plus point . Flat face with yellow/red eyes , bulbous nose , pointed ears with piercing rings and sharp fangs . The appearance is unhygienic as all they wear is tattered rags .

Although dealing with an individual Goblin is not a big deal for an average teenage male but when facing the whole horde of them , because of their cunning nature and dirty tactics they are considered an overall 'E+' level threat . Also , they are pretty smart when it comes to learn from past mistakes making it difficult to stay on the same strategy . The worst of all their ability to fast and interracial reproduction is unmatched by any other race . It took only two weeks for a goblin child to be born while another three weeks to grow up as an adult , that's why whenever an adventurer found out a goblin nest , it is wiped out thoroughly without leaving a single survivor .

One of the awakened 'Mage' , shot a fire spell at the top of wall targeting dozens of goblin , burning a lot of them to death . Unfortunately , it doesn't frighten them or reduce their moral but cause a more furious attack . One of the goblin jump over the walls while no one was paying attention and secretly strike at mage's head and with a splash of blood he was knocked unconscious. Before other awakens can come to his rescue , another goblin has already chopped his head with the stone hammer.

I , too was frightened by this sudden start of onslaught as in my entire life it was first time seeing a real monster let alone fighting . After hesitating a little , I chose to ran back to my house to took the sword i used to practise with . Although i am not an awakener but it is still better than doing nothing when a butcher's knife is asking for your life . But before i could go back to outside , the sound of childlike footsteps was heard near my house . Hurriedly i close the door , with a bang pushing one of the goblin to the ground . While i pressed the door with all my strength the back of my body is almost glued to the doorway not giving a way to come in .

" That was fast , how did these guys breach upto here so fast " I murmured while breathing heavily . I never did expect to the frontier to fall this easily . Is this really our end ??

" Wait !! , Why did i believe these guys are from the frontlines attacking the walls ?? The total time i did take from running back to unsheathing the sword is less than THREE minutes and these guys can't chase me so fast without facing any hurdles , right?? " I take a deep breath while analysing the current situation .

" If there is another way for them to enter in the village without anyone noticing then the attack on the walls....SHIT !! It's a fluke " I cursed after reaching a terrifying conclusion . The attack tonight wasn't any random carnage but a well-planned strategy. These Goblins turn out to be more cunning i ever thought . However it was already too late to warn others as the painful groins of elderly and childrens kept ringing in my head . While imagining the scenes of them begging for mercy and receiving an unjust death , streams of warm tears ran down my cheeks .

" My new home is also gone. Ahhhh....." before i could say my words of regret , a stone hit my face .

While trying to suppress the painful sensation on my face as I was going to look for the culprit behind it but all of a sudden the window in my room was cracked opened by the constant stone throwing of Goblins . A dozens or so of them fill inside just in seconds after breaking the glass . Two of them stepped forward towards me while licking the lips with their long and wide tongues . As they approached more closer to me , i started to become panic . After all , neither i can leave the big door for more goblins to enter nor i can fight fully when my body is pressed to a corner .

While gritting my teeth in anger , i swing the sword from my shivering right hand to one of Goblin's abdomen . The goblin wasn't expecting me to resist at this time and while being caught off guard , he left for the Hell in a single thrust . The other goblins instantly become vigilant but before they could further react , i had already slashed the head of second goblin standing nearby .

The sight of losing two 'comrades' made them scream out in anger and in an instant several of them jump in my direction with ferocity on their face . Although a little frighten and panicked , i kept swinging the sword with all the strength my right hand could muster , hitting and scratching the heads of several of them . By the time i started to feel a little pain on my back , i have already killed THREE more goblins by bursting their heads .

" See, this is how my family feels when you guys killed them so mercilessly " I roared in a voice full of anger and sadness when I injured a goblin with a heavy wound but since i missed the vitals , he can neither fight like others nor can die in peace . It will be a pure torture for him to breath the next few hours.

However , when I was getting indulged in venting the emotions in my heart , one of the goblin pick up a sharp knife in the room and threw it right at the my hand holding sword. Feeling the sharp touch on my wrist I can only cry out in pain and with my loosen grip , the sword also fall down to the floor . Taking advantage of my distracted state , several of them climbed up on my slightly bended knee and with a strong stroke on the joints , i was pushed to the ground without any resistance . Soon the doorway behind was also breached and under the leadership of a burly one , dozens of goblins poured in and i was trapped in the middle without any resistance .

As trying to sought out a way to escape from these creatures my eyes kept glancing around . The burly goblin seems to have noticed my small movements and after stepping forward he pushed my head to the ground with the soles of his feets. I wanted to resist the pressure but nevertheless the tired body of mine didn't hold against him and with a thump my soft cheeks were rubbed on the hard stone floor .

Looking at the hostile face , the leading goblin raise his eyebrows and after taking something out from one of the patches on his knee , a green powder was sprinkled on me. and in an instant drowsiness enveloped my body..... I was poisoned !!
