Power Systems

In this novel, there are a few multitude of power systems. I decided to break some of them down.

Name: Old Magic/Otherworldly Power

Uses: Stamina and Life Force

Description: Considered to be the path of desperation. Old craft exclusive to the main character's previous world. There, it was called magic. Through the use of written and/or verbal words, one's stamina or life force is typically drained to complete an action, although sometimes organic material may be used instead. The most enigmatic power. There were various beings that seemed to have been favored by this power. They were capable of irreversibly changing the world, seemingly without a cost required. In his next life, the main character found himself able to use it, and well.

Name: Cultivation

Uses: Qi

Description: Considered to be the path of immortality. By absorbing qi, cultivators can break through stages of power, strengthening their bodies and allowing them to pull off supernatural feats. Deeply connected to the ways/daos of heaven and earth. Was in the main character's previous world and his current one.

Name: Magic

Uses: Mana

Description: Considered to be the path of knowledge. Through the use of mana, mages can manipulate nature to their will, allowing them to pull off supernatural feats. Those who use magic are more likely to have weaker and more vulnerable bodies compared to cultivators, but can circumvent this issue through spells. Wasn't in the main characters past world and is completely new to him.

Name: Soul Release

Uses: Soul

Description: Within this new world, it is said that countless eons ago at the dawn of the world, a deity fell to humanity, and with it's last breath, it wrought upon a curse to all humans. It is everything wrong with the world. Roused by the fate, some awaken to themselves. Considered to be the path of self. Three abilities. Most awakened to soul release are capable of using the first, fewer having unlocked the second, and a small percentage who have reached the third. While it is an ability innate to all humans of this world, innate capacy differs between people, and awakening may be so difficult, it becomes basically impossible. Animals who ascend and gain a human form, are capable of using soul release.

Name: Aura

Uses: Aura

Description: Unlocked through encountering danger and surviving death. Incredibly volatile, while holding strong offensive ability, is easily able to destroy the body of the user. Path of destruction. Users of this power are rare. While others may gain power and take advantage of fate, aura wielders are said to break power and defy fate, or at least, defy those who try to control it.
