Chapter 4: Alone Again

Getting out of the shower room Cyrus made his way back to his dorm room and laid down on his bed and let out a shaky breath.

While he wasn't physically tired mentally he felt like throwing in the towel and quitting his job and just spending his days playing games and working out.

'No Cyrus you promised yourself, plus you never know if it's a long-term scam, once I paid off my college debt I should be good to enjoy it but until then I need to endure'

"Plus it's just five more months, nothing compared to the 30 years I probably would have been stuck paying it off" Cyrus said to himself.

Taking out his phone Cyrus let out a shaky breath as opened a particular app with a green money symbol.

Looking at the number Cyru turned off his phone and put it onto his chest and let out a long sigh.

'I might as well, this can be considered the last upgrade until my debt is paid off anyway, plus i'll be able to quit way quicker'

Trying to calm down his raging emotions Cysrus quickly withdrew the money before taking the last of what was in his emergency funds to finally upgrade the mining system.

"HOLY SHIT! IT'S REAL!" Cyrus screamed as he saw the update.

"Holy fuck, this is a real system," Cyrus murmured as he saw the update.

'Wait no! It could just be a trick just be a trick' Cyrus thought as his excitement cooled down.

'Doesn't matter for now I can just ignore it, I'm already 99% sure that this is a real system and not some scam anyway'

"Now we just wait, in four months I'll have enough to quit my job and live life to the fullest." Cyrus said as he closed his eyes.

Since he had work tomorrow on Saturday and was gonna be opening, according to his team leader his schedule should change after this week so this would be the last time he would work an eight-hour shift.

'I'm now making over $1000 every day yet I still have to go to a job I don't like tomorrow, things couldn't be better' Was Cyrus's last thought as he drifted off to sleep.

=======================

"Good work today Cyrus Cya on Tuesday." Cyrus's team lead said as Cyrus was exiting the store.

"Yea cya, Bob have a nice day." Cyrus said as he hurriedly left the store with a large backpack.

'Holy shit I've never felt so shitty, not even in high school when I was the last person picked for everything' Cyrus thought as he walked to the bus stop.

Getting on the bus and sitting down on an empty seat, Cyrus slowly drifted into his thoughts.

'Should I move? Should I still keep going to college? What kind of car should I get?'

All sorts of thoughts were coming and leaving making Cyrus slightly dazed.

Soon Cyrus arrived at his stop and got off and in front of him was a gym.

The first thing on Cyrus' agenda on the road to self-improvement was to first improve his body and gain some actual muscle.

Since he already had a plan Cysrus immediately went to the gym and signed up for a gym pass which cost him $60 per month.

After making some small talk with the recipient Cysrus went to the locker room and changed into his gym outfit that he would be wearing from then onward.

Stretching out some of his muscles, Cyrus looked around a bit and noticed that it was a bit empty, then again it was only 3 pm and most people were at work during this time.

Taking out some old headphones Cyrus quickly put on some workout music and soon got to work,

=========================

Getting back into his dorm room after taking a shower Cyrus was greeted with the scene of his roommate packing some of his bags.

Without saying anything Cyrus quickly changed and sat on his bed with a notebook in his hands.

Just as Cyrus was about to start writing his roommate suddenly said something.

"Anyway, I'm dropping out, after a couple of weeks here I've realized that while I love college I don't love slaving for 20 or 30 years to pay back a stupid loan that doesn't guarantee me a job. Plus all I've done is a party every two days"

"Wait what? Hold on, you know it's better to have a degree than not have one right?" Cyrus said, trying to convince his roommate not to quit.

"I'm just going to transfer to a technical school and try to get an associate's degree that has a good job market." Cyrus' roommate said while packing the last of his stuff.

"Plus im kind of tired of all the partying and honestly college just isn't for me"

"Also sorry about what happened a couple of weeks ago. I was just drunk and tired."

"wait, what about your loan?" Cyrus asked because even if you did drop out your loan would still follow you until you paid it off.

"Nah my parents were paying for my first semester to see if I would fit in or not, Lucky me I guess."

With that Cyrus' roommate left without even looking back, leaving Cyrus all alone.

Looking at the room that suddenly became only his, Cyrus closed his eyes and leaned back.

"Well that just happened, in the end, I'm all alone in a room by myself, great isn't it?" Cyrus asked himself.

"In the end it's just like high school all over again, at least back then some people knew my name, '' Cyrus said to himself.

'Well since I'm all alone I might as well start planning the future, it won't be long before I have to choose'
