Kyros's screams of agony seeped through the door.
The muttering of the witches he was locked in with was overcome by the sudden, maddening pounding of the door.
He was yelling to be let out in a language Valentina didn't understand.
"Let him out!" She turned to the Queen, her stance challenging. "Fucking let him out, you snake!"
Her snake hissed, raising its head in warning where it was on the floor, next to the hem of the Queen's gown. The slithering thing causing her to take a step back. She hated that giant piece of crawling thing.
She wasn't even talking to the snake, why did it have to respond?
Dalikah scoffed, folding her arms across her.
"Another word and we won't even have to return you."
That wasn't on a positive note and Valentina knew.
