9 Choosing a Race

Crash!

Blake was propelled backward when the ground beneath him cracked open, a massive creature came out and roared powerfully, sending a gushing air shockwave as if it was fixing its authority over the place.

It was powerful enough to send a measly level 1 player like him flying fifty meters back.

Since the entire place is barren without anything other than dead scorched trees, Blake thankfully didn't hit anything and landed on his feet. Raising his gaze, he now can see the appearance of the massive mob.

Even though that's the case, it's hard to understand what he was seeing right now.

But the massive mob is shaped like a wyvern.

Calling this mob a skeletal creature is too absurd as it still retains its decayed muscle, meat, and skin. While calling it a Zombie would've also been weird since it's not that gnarly, and looked intelligent, the mob looks like a mix of both.

Just then, Blake's eyes caught sight of the information tab of this mob.

At the sight of the information tab, he didn't waste any time and ran in the other direction before this monstrous monster realizes his presence. 'Get me out of this game! It's not fair! How can I be spawned in this damned place!'

[Colossus Sleeper]

Level: 60

Grade: Elite

Hp: 101,000 / 101,000

Skill:

Unholy Breath - Shoots unholy fire breaths that inflict corruption and burning effects.

Blake ran at the sight of the Colossus Sleeper not because of its level, but also its name.

Instead of blue or even purple, the Colossus Sleeper's name is colored deep red. Blake has played enough games to know that deep red usually means very strong. Even Gianis has her name written in deep red, and she was level 511.

"Hey! Over here!"

At the end of his sight on the right, Blake finds Slana waving at him.

She was standing in front of the mouth of a forest, it should be another Hunting Ground. Despite not knowing what the mobs inside there will be like, he could only hope that it's not as fierce as the ones inside the Domain of the Calm Sleepers.

Exerting everything he got, Blake move his legs and sprinted towards her.

Just as he has taken a few steps, he suddenly feels a sudden chill from his back.

Blake glanced over his shoulders before his expression drains from all colors, the Colossus Sleepers' ungodly eyes are fixated on him, fueled with killing intent. It's not a stretch to say that this is scarier than being pointed with a gun.

Knowing that he can't flee, the only option he has is to use the ticket and pick a race.

'How do I do this...? I want to use the ticket!'

Not knowing the mechanics of the game, he tries exclaiming inside his head to no avail. Wrecking his brain for a way, he then tries to summon his inventory if there's one. But thankfully, an interface came into his view.

Looking at the top left of his inventory, he finds the ticket he was looking for.

Clicking on it as if his life was depending on it, a pop-up message appeared and Blake didn't read it and quickly press the yes button. As he was running like a chicken through the barren land, he can't afford to read some pop-up message bullshit.

Immediately after he presses that, a drop-down list of races can be seen.

'Okay, okay, okay, okay, t-they are all Undead-type mobs, right? So I need to pick an Undead-type race too, maybe they won't attack me if I'm also an Undead. Yeah... that's the way to go'

Since the drop-down list is arranged based on grade, he quickly went over to the bottom.

Blake finds that the grades work in a familiar format from F to SSS and lastly EX.

Roar!!

Upon hearing the mighty thunderous roar on his back, Blake's heart almost jumped out of his chest. Towering about six meters high was the Colossus Sleeper that already managed to push itself out of the ground completely.

Its unholy eyes send a cold gaze at Blake's back.

Almost in a union, the other mobs in the entire place shift their gaze to Blake as if they can feel the Colossus Sleeper pointing at him. Just this alone shows that the Colossus Sleeper should be the Boss here and has total control over the other mobs.

Following that, the Colossus Sleeper opens its mouth.

[Warning!]

[Colossus Sleeper is using the Unholy Breath skill]

Blake was distracted by these notifications, he was panicking beyond measure, and beads of cold sweat started to run down the side of his face as he scrolls through the list, trying to find an Undead-type race.

"Pick the Werefox race! It'll help you escape!"

Taking advantage of the situation, Salana shouted from the front.

Salana suddenly shouted from the front.

Upon hearing her shout, Blake could only smile with a clenched jaw as even in this situation, she still tries promoting her race as if she was some kind of forceful marketing agent. 'Nah... in no damn way I'm going to pick that'

As the mobs are nearing and the Colossus Sleeper's attack is manifesting, Blake finds one.

Inside the black-colored races section that is supposed to be the EX-grade race, he can only find one Undead-type race. Nearing the bottom, his eyes sparkled at the sight of this race and he didn't waste any time and quickly taps on it and clicks confirm.

Knowing that he didn't have time to pick and choose, it's now or never.

[Racial Completion Ticket has been used!]

[Choosen race, Spectral Vampire]

[Spectral Vampire]

It's a one-of-a-kind unique type of Undead creature created from a powerful fusion of the purest Vampire blood and Astral Specter Patriarch through a lost ritual. Unlike regular Vampires or Specters, the Spectral Vampire is not entirely dependent on blood and is also not bound to the physical realm. A notorious fear-inducing creature of the Undead.

While still running, Blake looks at his own hand to see if there are any changes.

Nothing happened for a solid five seconds before out of nowhere, an inexplicable chill started to sprout from his heart and started spreading throughout his body. It feels fine at first, yet the cold sensation suddenly turns into a stabbing sensation.

Surprised by this, his body turns stiff as he falls to both knees instantly.

Blake starts shaking violently, the stabbing sensation came from the coldness reaching his blood, lowering his temperature markedly until his blood turns as cold as ice. All of a sudden, his surroundings being to look and feel much colder.

Gasping, he looks at his hand one last time and notices that it's starting to lose its heat.

As the Spectral Vampire is an Undead-type race, his skin began to turn pale.

Upon seeing the sudden change that was happening to Blake, the other mobs stopped mid-track. It was then his blood suddenly started to be drained from the inside, the pain is excruciating, he was paralyzed on the spot and even started to salivate profusely.

"Huff... Huff... Huaarrgghh!!!"

It feels like he was in actual hell, and bit by bit he was completely drained of his own blood.

Upon seeing this, Salana clenched her jaw as she wanted to help but can't.

Salana's current form is incapable of helping, 'Blake needs to increase his level quickly before he can log out. If he dies right now, his actual body would suffer an immense backlash from using the Persona Harmony. If that happened, he might not be able to play for some time'

Biting her lower plump lip, she tries to figure out a way out of this.

Even then, she can't think of anything, all she can do is hope that Blake picks the right race.

Just as she was watching from afar, Salana's eyes squinted when she saw Blake's own shadow starting to reach out to him. A frown appeared on her face, she still doesn't know what kind of race Blake picks that can cause something like this.

Of course, she has her own guesses but she's not sure.

In a moment, the Colossus Sleeper eventually finishes charging its Unholy Breath skill. A dark greenish orb appeared in its mouth, and following that, it sends a flaming dark greenish fire beam straight at the paralyzed Blake.

Swooosh!

Everything that the Unholy Breath passes melted, including the ground.

Clearly, the Unholy Breath skill has an erosive effect that is very destructive, and it's hard for Salana to imagine that Blake can survive that kind of attack, no matter the race he picks. It's too wide of a gap between their strengths.

'Sigh... it's unlucky that we got spawned here' Salana sighs in defeat.

Kaboom!

A big explosion was created, blasting Blake and everything around him in greenish flames.

Salana hoped that the race Blake picks would be able to help, yet the sight of the destruction that the Unholy Breath causes forces her to wipe out her hopeful thinking. It's impossible to survive that attack.

But as she was creating a plan to recover from this, her body suddenly froze.

Gazing at the flaming ground where Blake was earlier, she squinted her eyes when she somewhat saw a pair of deep purple eyes poking out of the flame. "Blake...?" She mutters softly, hope started to resurface again.

With an unnatural movement, the pair of deep purple eyes steps out of the flame.

Upon stepping out to the open, exposing its appearance, Salana gasped in shock when she realized that it was definitely Blake as there was no one else beside him, but his appearance changed immensely.

Now, Blake's entire body is a blood-red shadow, it doesn't have a fixed figure.

Realizing that something feels weird, Blake looks down at the form his body is taking in surprise. Instinctively, he was able to disperse his blood-red shadow form and retain back his physical form.

Aside from his pale skin, he now seems to be a bit bigger and more muscular than before.

Salana also saw the remnant of the blood-red shadow crawling around the surface of Blake's skin, connecting to his own shadow, almost like a chaotic parasite that looks eerie and deadly at the same time.

'I-I've never seen that kind of race before, what is that...?'

In response to this, the other mobs started to step back a little instinctively.

None of them dared venture closer as their probing eyes inspected Blake curiously yet cautiously. Even the Colossus Sleeper seems to be surprised too when it saw that its Unholy Breath skill was unable to kill Blake.

It was then, Blake slowly glanced over his shoulders and turns around.

Despite the fact that the Colussus Sleeper had considered Blake nothing more than a lowly ant due to his low level, its opinion of him now changed drastically. The air around Blake shifted in some inexplicable way, setting off an internal alarm in the Colossus Sleeper's senses.

But the moment the Colossus Sleeper met Blake's purple eyes, its instinct reacted.

Under the startled gaze of Salana, the Colossus Sleeper, a level 60 Elite-grade Boss monster flapped its wings back to create some distance with Blake as soon as their eyes connected, a very unexpected and surprising move.

Albeit faint, fear can be seen inside the Colossus Sleeper's ungodly eyes.

It was almost as if it saw death in Blake's purple eyes.
