Chapter 5 - Section 7 - Interlude: ??? POV

This kingdom is always on the cutting edge, since the time when the first hero summoning was ever conducted, we've always been ahead of our rivals on the continent.

While other hero's are still being trained up our own summoned other worlders had already attained levels and powers far surpassing the newly summoned people and as a result were powerless in the face of our own, not to say we were masters of the continent but our Kingdom had managed in the last few hundred years to expand our borders and at least take over some of the smaller kingdoms through conquest while repulsing attempts to liberate them by the other large kingdoms once they'd summoned their own hero's.

This round of summoning however was different than all those previously on record.

Our Kingdom's summoning granted to us by the gods was one that was both powerful but restrictive.

By gaining powerful hero's our country would only be able to summon 3 per summoning, which other countries first viewed as no issue, while we'd get 3 hero's others could get hundreds but their quality was much lower, some barely better than normal citizens.

This terms summoning was conducted like usual by the highest level priest of the goddess's temple, and as history had recorded upon her summoning a great light erupted.

But present was not 3 but 4.

At first we were perplexed thinking our great gift had been weakened by the goddess, only to find that the gift was still intact we'd just received a little something extra as well.

Well anything helps I guess but in this case the goddess need not have bothered the other hero's informed his unique still was trash and useless in our world, so the king wrote him off and acquiesced to his desire to depart from his other summoned brethren.

It's at this point my part in his story begins, from the minute he left the castle i was assigned to tail him.

Useless as he might be he was still an other worlder, previous summoning possessed untold knowledge and his age was considerably older than all the previous summon who were barely adults.

As I watched on he seemed wholly normal, first getting his bearings in this new world, and signing up at the guild to get a job even if menial for himself.

I partied up with him for one of those jobs only to realize his potential during the job.

He possessed some form of space-time magic capable of storing vast quantities of supplies or armament.

After which he'd gone to the merchants guide and sole high quality goods as of yet unseen in this kingdom.

Without waiting I took my leave from him and raced back to the castle.

Up until now I'd been sending quickly worded reports via carrier birds but something of this scale could not be explained in so few words.

I was unable to meet with the king but his ministers instead.

After giving my report of the new summoned mans abilities I was granted command of a shadow unit and ordered to take him into custody enslaving him if possible for use by the country.

But we were to late, after checking the inn he'd stayed at he was gone, guards were similarly hunting for him but could not find him.

Could he have been able to teleport with his space time magic?

My unit was further tasked with hunting him down, so after scouring the capital we gave chase and wandered the countryside looking for signs of our quarry.

We never found him, but signs of something or someone who was taking the region by storm out of nowhere, which had to be him.

Every time a new rumor spread he headed for the source learning of new events and chasing after the target, was it him? we knew not but it didn't matter we had a job to do and this was the closest thing to completing it that we knew of.

The target left the country behind and headed for the meritocracy, we of course followed but our job was harder the rumors were less prone to spread in a land where merit is everything and everyone is achieving something every other day.

Just when we got close the target we were closing in on once again disappeared, but when next we heard something promising the reports were mixed, there were now multiple sources of the rumors, all alluding to multiple possible

Our group speculated that perhaps this mans magic could use the same summoning magic of the country calling in more of his worlds citizen...

A truly terrifying prospect for whichever country could bind the man to its military.

We once again headed for the source of these new rumor and came upon a town where a growing political and religious crisis were looming.

Unknown gods were being extolled at a new style of temple and gaining a large number of followers in only a matter of months.

But once again our quarry had scurried off before we'd even arrived.

Meanwhile events back home were distressing the other young hero's were progressing but there were signs that all was not quite well in the nation.
