1 Face1ess

On a dark chilly restless night, rain chattered through the empty atmosphere. The rhythmic noisy drops made their way down the enclosed buildings as they relentlessly played musical notes.

The old trees swayed back and forth under the relentless beating of the fierce rain and storm. The pitter and patter sound of the showers drumming onto the rundown ground.

A full-lit-moon glowed on smooth granite boulders and cobblestones, turning them silver.

The silence was broken by the loud sound of the rain beating musical notes and thunder that were combined with the moon that shone on the whispers that were heard from the trees in the forest beyond, creating a horrifying atmosphere.

There was a stirring in the shadows. From all around, lithe dark shapes crept stealthily through the abandoned streets.

The unsheathed paws and claws of both wild cats and wolves glinted in the moonlight. Both approached from opposite directions and as if on a silent signal, made their way through the damp, rocky grounds and over the iron fences. Pelts sleek and stuck to their muscular and nimble limbs from the icy rain, they hopped from one place to another and flashed through the deafening lightening towards their designated target.

As the drenched creatures reached their targets, without pause, they hurled and leaped at one another, without even stopping to shake the water from their fur, raising a whirlwind of floating dirt and rock in their fierce wrestling.

A wolf scrambled to its paws, wincing from a deep gash on its shoulder, it swept its sight over the overwhelming number of opponents and saw its companions encircled. Without hesitation it turned and fled.

The desperate scream of a wild cat rose above the clamor. A wiry wolf had pinned the brown cat flat on its belly. Now it lunged towards its neck with jaws still dripping from the rainstorm.

One of the other wild cats had heard the brown cats cry and let go of the wolf it was fighting. With a mighty leap, he knocked the enemy wolf away from the brown cat and signaled it to run. Then he turned towards the wolf who had threatened the brown cat.

The brown wild cat winced in pain from the deep gash on its shoulder and raced away.

Behind it, a black wolf spat with rage as a cat sliced open its nose. Blood blinded it for an instant, but its lunged forward regardless and sank its teeth into the hind leg of its enemy. The cat squealed and struggled free.

This battle, between the two creatures, continued for a long period of time.

without even stopping to shake off the rainwater from their furs.

After a while, the painful meows and the woofs decreased as the rain increased rapidly and as they grew more exhausted from the long wrestling. The sounds the creatures were making was far too weak against the powerful thunderous rain.

Suddenly a creepy shadow lingered from the stormy night. Every step it took caused chaos among the small helpless animals. Each creature, forgetting about the battle that had occurred earlier, tried to run as if their lives were at stake. Their loud screeches were filled with panic, carrying endless despair and helplessness. Wary and terrified eyes flashed with an amber glow as they swiveled around in search of a safe shelter from the creepy shadow that roamed aimlessly. They were no longer eager for a battle, but, instead, seeked survival. A way to survive from the shadowed men. And they were willing to help each other, even if that meant, working together with their archenemies. The wild cats with the wolves and the wolves with the wild cats. They had to find a place to hide. They had to find it now!

Now, some creatures hidden behind trash bins, boxes, and other objects, the writhing crowd watched in secret. The wild cats gazed upon in trembling, terrified amber eyes, where the shadowed men captured one of their cubs.

The creepy shadowed man beating the helpless, wild cat in the face, fist flying over and over with sickening force and steadfastness. Blood leaked from the cats' mouth and nose, coating their sleek pelts. The metallic scent drifted in the air; its nauseating stench amplified by the intermittent gusts of wind.

The brutal, creepy shadowed man finished it off by crushing the cat's skull with his bare hands, extinguishing its life force with the heart-rending powerful snap.

After witnessing the horrific scene, a warning yowl came from one of the drenched creatures, causing the others to become shriller and more anxious.

It was a Black-footed cat. It was ordering its pack to retreat.

At once the wild cats quietly squirmed and struggled away from

their hiding spots. Spitting and snarling, they backed towards the black-footed cat.

For a heartbeat, the wolves looked confused.

Was this the end of the battle? One that had been planned for centuries.

Then a gray wolf yowled a dysphoric cry. As soon as the other wolves heard it, they silently squirmed away from their hiding spots and joined their deputy.

The wild cats hurriedly reared away and sprang onto a boulder, climbed over the fence and disappeared into the forest. While the wolves squirmed and struggled away, not even glancing back a bit to see the condition the brutal dominating shadow fighter had bestowed on the cat then disappeared into the trees.

The black-footed cat, that had sent a warning yowl, followed last. It hesitated at the edge of the forest and glanced back at the bloodstained battlefield, that was now only left with the body of a brutally beaten lifeless cat. Its face was grim, its amber eyes furious. It glanced over at the cruel unidentifiable shadowed man one last time, then leaped after it's teammates into the silent forest.
