2 Chapter 2: Value Of Hardwork

With this response, Celestina's curiosity with going to regular commoner schools grew even more. She wanted to experience that life... the life where you would see and mingle with different people every day and how she would experience what it's like to be a commoner. A luxury that she was never able to experience despite being the princess next to the throne to be the queen.

"Princess.. you do know that there are many and by many as in almost a quarter of the population desires being a princess. Many people may not admit it but some of them have their dreams to live in a castle and be pampered and be worshipped for the rest of their life." The maid explained to her.

Lawrence joins in with what the maid said "Some even choose to kill just to get the position you are in princess... although you have to realize something. I don't think normal life is as what you read on the books princess."

"And if you were to live your life as a normal girl. You would have to leave the castle." Lawrence says to her softly.

Celestina had a moment of realization. Even if she wanted to live her life of her own luxury she would have to throw away her life of luxury in the palace.. she would throw away the pampered and sheltered life she had ever since she was a child.

"That's fine." She said softly. Making the maid and Lawrence's eyes widen in shock with the maid even accidentally dropping her cleaning supplies from the shock of what the princess had said.

Celestina knew what she wanted and she's the type of person that if she wants it she would seek after it until she got it. Despite being a princess and spoiled by her parents. She never wanted to be spoiled neither she was a brat to anyone.

Memories come back from when she was a child. Her grandfather, the previous king was the man she looked up to the most. Even more than she looked up from her own father.

The previous king was a wholesome man. Not only he was strong and assertive, he was a kind ruler and he put his people's needs before his own. Which Celestina admired of her grandfather.

She remembered that one time during her childhood. Teaching her a valuable lesson that stuck from her mind even in her age and his unfortunate passing.

FLASHBACKS

When she was a child she would frolic around the fields under the careful watch of her attendant, Lawrence. The only person that is her age that she talks to and the only person that she considers as his friend on the castle.

"For a princess.. you sure are very rowdy aren't you?" Lawrence pointed to her dress being stained by mud that she frolicked around. The dress was as white as snow which was meant to show she was innocent but the brown stains ruined the illusion.

"It's just so boring in the castle that's all. I mean the castle is big and it's beautiful... but" She said frowning on the ground staining her white dress even more. "It's just that. The castle feels rather boring. It's as if there's this emptiness whenever I go there.. what do you think Lawrence?"

"I believe you should be thankful for what you have princess Celestina. Many peasants in this country would wish to be in your shoes." Lawrence said in his usual monotone manner.

He walked a bit closer to Celestina and stood there with a firm look on his face. Looking down on her and pointing to her dress. "Your dress... it's gotten a lot dirtier now."

Before standing up they hear stomping on the ground. Even far away from the castle doors.. they already can feel the stomping vibrating. It was as strong as a rampaging animal and they knew who it was the moment they heard a deep voice. "CELESTINA!"

They turned around to see it was the king. Celestina's grandfather. His hair was as pale as white. He was as tall as a tree. His jawline was sharp and his body was muscular. Although both knew that despite him looking like a total monster, he was a kind and caring man.

"Celestina. You have gotten your dress dirty. Again." Her grandfather says to her which he already suspected.

"I'm sorry grandfather..." She apologized. "I would never do it again!" She climbed and gave him a big hug. The mud then slattered on his clothing.

"Celestina!" Lawrence pointed out that the King's clothes were getting drenched with mud.

The king just laughed slightly brushing off the thing that happened. Although it was different from his wife. If she would do this to the current queen she would get her head chopped off.

The King and the queen are completely polar opposites. While the king was a kind ruler, his wife was nothing more than all talk and no talent. Many of the servants despise the queen but still fully supports the king. Some even wonder why the king married her, to begin with, being that her attitude was nothing but spiteful.

The air went silent as they passionate hugged each other. While Lawrence was cringing at the fact that both of their clothes were ruined and Lawrence was a big germaphobe.

"Celestina. I have something to show you." The king said to her grabbing her hand.

"You can go back to what you were doing Lawrence," The king reassured Lawrence as he softly took her into a room in the castle.

"Where are you taking me, grandfather?" She asked curious but at the same time a little scared if she was in trouble.

"Somewhere that I spend a lot of my time on dear." The king responded softly.

As they arrived in the room and the king opened the door. It was a room full of sewing supplies. Needles, threads, fabrics were decorated across the room. It was neatly organized as well.

The king sat down and grabbed some fabrics. "Do you ever want to know how to make a dress?"

"No... I don't... I have seen my mother make me dresses.. but I've never known how to do it." She replied to her grandfather.

The king smiled and brought out a layout. Celestina's measurements were already pinned on the board in case the tailors would make a dress for her so the king took that and showed it to her.

"Listen closely. We would have to put this layout and then cut the fabric and then piece them together. Simple right?" He smiled bringing enthusiasm into Celestina.

Celestina nodded slightly and they both started getting to work on a dress for her. They both picked a white dress.. similar to what she ruined before. They worked hard on it for sold hours, taking little breaks but both the king and Celestina were determined to finish the dress.

It was the first time that Celestina would sweat for something in her whole life and this made her feel like she could do anything. As time pasts by. It was done. The dress was finished. It was gorgeous and beautiful. Not bad for a child to make, with the assistance of her grandfather.

"Why don't you try it on?" The king said to her. She lets out a little smile before taking the dress that she had put her time into. Although the dress was not perfect and it looked amateur. It held a lot of sentimental value to Celestina considering that she puts her blood, sweat, and tears into the dress.

She put it on. As she stared in the mirror. She can't help but crack a smile from seeing her work come to life... It's as if it was her baby... the king sat behind on the sidelines and then as he looked outside.

"Hm.. maybe you should go out with that dress and show it to Lawrence." The king told her.

She stood up with joy and agreed. She wanted Lawrence to see her creation and how it means to her. As she went downstairs... this sudden feeling appeared before her. A certain carefulness... grew inside her...

It came from when one of the maids holding cups of wine. A certain feeling inside her wanted to keep it safe from being stained.. a feeling that she had never had before until now... that feeling of wanting to keep the dress she had made safe.

She always moved around carefree without any type of worry when she's running around the halls and sometimes when food, dust, or dirt gets on her dress she doesn't care... but now.. she had realized what her grandfather's true intention was...

It was so that she would be able to figure out the value of hard work... and by doing so... she realized that she was carefree to break and ruin things because she didn't do it herself.. but when she worked hard for it.. it feels painful if it gets ruined before her eyes.

FLASHBACKS

"Princess... your food is ready... Are you alright over there?" Lawrence as in a monotone expression, shaking Celestina slightly.

"Oh.. I'm fine.." She responded not realizing she was daydreaming about her grandfather again... which feels her with sadness because of his unfortunate passing.

"Hey, Lawrence... I have a question." She turned to Lawrence in a serious expression.

"Wha.. what is it?" Lawrence asked caught off guard although still remaining with his calm and collected self.
