12 Chapter 8: How it Feels to be Annoyed

Aki's POV

"I know that you heard our conversation," I said seriously. I wonder what will be her reaction, teehee.

"Hello? Are you still ther-?" she hung up before I could even finish what I'm about to say. Sigh.

Several days have passed and she's been avoiding me since that phone call. She pretends that I'm invisible every time she's aware of my presence. I couldn't talk to her after that.

Thankfully, today is the student council election and I will be able to see Rin. Speaking of, I see her now walking in the hallway with a serious face. Her long, chestnut brown hair covers her back as she walks confidently while holding some books in her arm.

I slowly followed Rin while hiding from other students. I don't want them to make a fuss when they see me. I am Akio Tanaka, the top student, and representative of Aoko High, that's why I'm famous here.

"She's one of the candidates right?"

"Yeah, she's just a scholar though."

"As if she could win." some students murmured.

Hearing their conversation annoyed me but I saw Rin continued walking without even batting an eye on them. She doesn't care about what other people say, that's one of many reasons why I like her.

"She's called Miss Number Two right? That name fits her-"

"MISS NUMBER TWO!" I shouted in annoyance and ran towards her.

"I'm the only one who can call you that right?" I said, while intentionally letting others hear our conversation. I am the only student at our level whose grades are higher than Rin's. They don't have the right to call her that.

I am maintaining my rank because that's the only reason for her to look up to me. She's not the type to care so much about other people except for her friends and rival. I'm unfortunate because the girl I like only sees me as someone she wants to surpass, as her rival.

'It's nice to be her goal though.' I said in my mind. She glared at me and walked away. Here we go again.

"Hey, Aki!" Yuno walked towards me while waving at some female students around us. This blue-haired guy is such a ladies' man.

"Sup," I said and bumped our fists.

"Where's Rin? I thought I saw you with her," he asked.

"She left a while ago," I replied with a sigh.

"Well, as always. She'll talk to you sooner or later." he patted my back and tried to cheer me up.

"So, who are you going to vote?" I changed the topic.

"I'll vote for you, of course. What about you? Don't tell me you're-"

"Yes, I'll vote for her. Is there anything wrong with that?" I raised an eyebrow and he shrugged nonchalantly. I guess he knew that he can't change my mind.

"What a loverboy," he commented.

"Oh, shut up."

The election has finally started. It is automated where the students can vote through their phones or the school's computers. In this way, it is easier to know the result of this voting and it will be announced maybe tomorrow.

I don't care if I win or lose. I just want her to stop avoiding me. I want her to talk to me again, even though it's obvious that she's irritated every time she sees me.

Rin's POV

That was a close call! It's hard to act normal every time he's around. It's so embarrassing now that he knows that I secretly listened to his conversation with Gray? I mean, it's not a secret anymore! Just imagining him teasing me about that bothers me. He's an expert when it comes to annoying me.
