14 Chapter 10: Walk In The Rain

"Greetings, students and teachers. I am Akio Tanaka, the elected student council president. I will do my very best to fulfill this duty, so please continue to support me. Let us all work together to make this school year both fun and meaningful for all of us. Once again, thank you."

The crowd applauds as he finished his speech. We're now at the function hall of the school, where they announced the results of the election. Each one of the elected students gave their speech. Thank goodness, it's finally done.

There are no classes for the rest of the day. We can use the free time for club activities, or we can go straight home. Today's such a bad day. I lost my chance to be the student council president, and now, I can't find my umbrella when it's raining so hard.

I remember that leaving my umbrella with my name on it here in the rack beside the lockers. Where in the world is it? I was about to call Gin to pick me up when I saw a message popped up on my screen. It's from Gin.

"Sis, I have practice today. Mine borrowed my umbrella, so I'm using yours. Sorry and thanks." he said. Why would he lend his umbrella when he needs it in the first place?! Sigh.

I sat down in irritation and waited for the rain to stop. It's so annoying! I hate rainy days because I'm afraid of thunder. My late grandma used to say that it's just the angels bowling, but I'm not that dumb to believe it.

Few minutes have passed, and I'm still here at the event hall. It seems like the rain isn't going to stop anytime soon. I don't want to go home without an umbrella because mom will scold me for sure. Sigh.

"See ya!"

"See you tomorrow."

"Bye, take care."

I saw some students from afar, leaving backstage together with Aki and Yuno. They're the student council members. They probably had their first meeting today.

"Hey, Miss Number Two!" Aki called my silly nickname as soon as he noticed me. I'm about to pretend that I didn't hear him and hide, but he already ran towards me.

"Why are you still here?"

"Am I not allowed to stay here?" I asked him back.

"No, I mean-"

"Are you perhaps waiting for someone?" Yuno cut off what he's about to say and asked. Why are they asking so many questions? It's not like they own this school.

"It's none of your business," I replied coldly.

"If you're waiting for the rain to stop, we can wait together." Aki offered and smiled softly.

"Oh, just use my umbrella. You two can share." I noticed Yuno winked at Aki as he said that. What's with him?

"What about you?" I asked. I don't see him holding any spare umbrella for him.

"I can manage." He said and tapped Aki's shoulder. I saw him ran outside while his blue hair gets wet in the rain. He looks like a kid playing with the raindrops, so childish.

"Let's go. I can walk you home." Aki offered to share the umbrella. I'm still avoiding him because I'm afraid he will tease me for eavesdropping, but I guess I have no choice but to accept his offer. I don't want to be left here alone.

"Okay," I replied. My house is just walking distance from our school, so we're walking together in the rain. The umbrella is not enough for two people, that's why we need to stay close to each other.

A sudden clap of thunder breaks the awkward silence, which made me cling to Aki.

"Are you okay?" he said while observing my face. I nodded and slightly pushed him after realizing that I almost hugged him.

"Are you afraid of thunder?" he asked. Isn't it obvious? I bet he's laughing behind this worried expression.

"So what? That's pretty normal." I defended. I hate it when he sees my weakness.

"It's just the angels bowling," he said with a hearty chuckle. How dare he sounds like my late grandma. And why is he laughing like he doesn't fear anything? Is he perfect? Well, almost.

"Don't tell me that you believe that," I replied.

"Of course not, that's what my grandma used to say. I'm surprised to know that you're afraid of thunder."

"As I said, it's pretty normal to have fears, you know." I wonder if he has fears or weaknesses.

"What about you? What are you afraid of?" I asked out of curiosity. Maybe I can learn about his weaknesses that I can use to beat him.

"Why would I tell you that?" he answered with a smirk. He has a point. Why would he tell someone who wants to beat him his weakness?

"I-I'm just curious about you," I said self-consciously, trying not to feel foolish.

"Are you interested in me?" Aki stopped walking and asked with a serious face. Did I hear him right? He's asking if I'm interested in him?!

"WHAT THE HELL?!"
