JENNIE

I was playing in the backyard of our huge house. Our house is pretty big. My friends usually say that I have the prettiest house. Well, I keep on telling them it's not. Because even if my house is very pretty, I am pretty lonely sometimes. My parents usually spend time with me but this month, they were busy.

I kept on playing with my doll when somebody tapped my shoulder. It's mommy!

"Mom! You're back!" I said as I hugged her tightly. She nodded and caressed my back.

"I'm sorry mommy hasn't been able to spend time with you. You know that me and your father is doing this so you can have the best life possible. Does my baby understand?" She said.

"Yes mommy, I understand." I stated and pulled away, showing her the dress Auntie made for my doll. "Mom! Look! Auntie made my doll a dress matching with mine!" I said and twirled around.

A manly voice chuckled, I could recognise that voice anywhere. "Appa!" I shouted in delight and ran towards him. He carried me with me sitting on his one arm, and his other arm wrapped around me, making sure I don't fall.

"How is my princess doing these days? I'm sorry we couldn't spend time with you, and oh, do you want to come with us to my office? My business partner has a son that's about two years older than you. Maybe you guys can be playmates." He said.

"Really Appa! I could go to the office? I want to meet him and play with him Appa! What's his name?" I asked.

"Why don't my princess ask him herself?" He said and let me down so my mom could dress me up.

"Okay Appa! I'm going to get dressed now!" I said and ran towards my room, bidding my Appa goodbye. My mom picked a pretty dress for me to wear and dressed me up. She also tied my hair in pigtails, putting mint coloured bows in both, matching with my dress.

Appa knocked on the door, just in time because my mom was putting on my shoes.

"Let's go?" He asked for confirmation. My mom nodded.

"Yeah, she's all good." My mom answered my dad. "Aigoo! My daughter is so pretty, just like me!" She said and pinched my chubby cheeks.

"Oma, am I really pretty? Don't lie, it's bad." I warned. She chuckled and said, "Sincha! I'm telling the truth and nothing but the truth!"

"Okay." I said as Appa carried me again. We all went inside the van. As soon as Appa put me in my car seat and buckled me up, we were greeted by our driver, Mister Kim So Yan with her daughter, Kim Jisoo. She was a year older than me. We usually play tag together. Sometimes we even play dress up using the clothes I have in my not-so-little little closet.

As we drove towards the company, me and Appa kept on talking. Yup, I'm a daddy's girl. My teacher said that most girls become daddy's girls. She didn't have the time to tell me why though.

Before I knew it, we were already in my parent's huge main building. It was huge and tall. But I bet Jack's beanstalk is still bigger and taller. The beanstalk was so tall it reached the clouds. I will ask Appa later if the building can reach clouds too.

We thanked our driver and went in. We were immediately greeted by the staffs and employees. I hid my face in Appa's neck because I felt shy. They were so many of them. We reached my Appa and Oma's office. There was a huge desk where my Appa's computer and papers are.

I wonder what he does with all those paper? Does he draw a lot too? There were two chairs in front of the desk and one huge spinning chair where my Appa usually sits when he meets people.

The two chairs were occupied by one man and one woman. In the lap of the woman, is a boy. I'm guessing he is the guy Appa's telling me about? Maybe. I approached him and waved my hand at him.

"Oh, she's my daughter, Kim Jennie. My only child." My Appa said as he sat down on his chair while the unknown woman nodded. Oma just sat beside Appa, chuckling.

"She's extremely pretty. Just like her mom." The woman said. The woman said to the boy, "Go play with her Kai, don't be shy. She's nice."

The boy shyly jumped out of his lap. He walked towards me and waved at me.

"Hi, I'm Kim Jongin but my nickname is Kai. I lived here in Korea since I was born. I have one sister. I'm seven years old." He showed me seven fingers. I nodded and looked my Appa and Oma who just nodded.

"Hi, I'm Kim Jennie. I studied english in New Zealand before going back here in Korea. That's why I have an English name which is Jennie Ruby Jane Kim. I'm five years old." I said cheerfully.

"Let's play Kim Jennie! By the way you look pretty." He complemented. I showed a shy smile and replied with a thank you.

"Let's go to my playroom!" I said and led him there, holding his hand.

"I smell something good!" My dad shouted. I smiled as I flipped the last pancake before putting it in a plate to serve. I love making pancakes, actually, I love cooking overall. It's just that feeling you know. You start with a ton of different items and finish with a very delicious meal.

"Of course darling. It's one of her specialties, pancakes!" My mom said as she sat down the dining table. I opened one of the drawers to to get a fork and knife. I gave them a set each, while putting my set on my plate. I opened the fridge to get all the different sauces and stuff.

"You made a lot. How are going to finish this, princess?" My dad asked. I just shrugged my shoulders and said, "Worry about that later Appa, just eat."

I went and ate a few bites and was interrupted by the doorbell. I immediately knew who it is and excused myself. But my parents followed anyway. I opened the door too see Jongin, in his casual clothes ready for school. He smiled at me as his eyes landed on my parents.

"Hi Mister and Miss Kim. I'm here to take Jennie to school." He said and bowed. My parents chuckled. "Come on, drop the formalities, Jongin. You knew us for years now." My mom said. My dad nodded and signalled him to come in. He did.

"Have you eaten breakfast yet, Jongin? Come join us. I made pancakes." I wiggled my eyebrows at him. "Yeah sure, I'm pretty hungry too." He said and sat at the empty chair beside me. It was where he usually sits.

"Here, ahh." I fed him a piece, which he ate quickly, giving me a thumbs-up. "Mhm, it's so good." He said as he cut his own piece and ate it. I smiled and winked at him before grinning loudly. He likes it!

"Do you like it that much Jongin?" I asked as he nodded his head at me finishing the pancake. We all finished eating and we put away the plates used. I grabbed Jongin's hand and dragged him up in my room for privacy.

"Jongin, you're early. What the hell happened?" I asked as I walked towards my walk-in closet. He sat on the edge of my bed and sighed. "My parents fought, again." He said as he looked to his left, and looked outside the huge glass door that leads to the main balcony of the house. My parents have access to that balcony but they never use it. They don't really like warm weather. So if they ever go out, it's only at night.

I went out and sat beside him, hugging him and made us both fall down the bed. "Hey, don't be sad. I'm here, your Jennie." I said and pat his back. I comfort him like I always do. Whenever we have problems, we share that to each other and comfort each other. I always stick around him.

He always protects me too. There was this one time someone harassed me in school, he beat the shit out of the person. That resulted him being in detention. But I practically begged the teacher not to and it was my fault. In other words, we always had each other's back. Always.

My room is pretty big. When you enter through the door, my bed will be in the left side and in front of it was my personal tv. In the left side of my bed was, as I said, was the balcony.

The right side has my vanity. Both sides of my bed has a nightstand, with my hanging lamps on top of it. From my bed, at the bottom left is a sliding door leading to my walk-in closet. Right beside it is my en-suite bathroom.

I was huge, but me and Jongin always hang-out here so it never really felt big. When he's here, we would watch netflix, play board games, or even swim. We also hang-out in his house but his parents always fight. So he often crashes here. He doesn't sleep in a guest room. He sleeps in my room. We're that comfortable with each other. We promised each other to stay together, and fight for each other. No one really broke that promise.

There was this one time a storm came while he crashed here. We both flinch easily so we turned on the television, hoping it will make the noise go down. In other words, were both scaredy-cats. He's just a bit less scaredy-cat but still a one. Good old memories.

I stood up and walked towards my bathroom, informing him that I will take a shower first. He nodded and turned on the television, trying to find a new show. I closed and locked the door before removing my clothes.

I turned on the shower and stepped in. Ah, it feels nice to take a shower in the morning. I used my body scrub that smells like strawberries. I loved it. It was one of my favourite body scrubs to use on a daily basis. It was also quite relaxing.

I took my shampoo and added a fair amount on my hand before applying it gently on my hair. It smelled like roses. I also used my conditioner and hair mask afterwards. They both keep my hair silky and smooth, also both smell like roses. I also use that on a daily basis.

I finished my shower quickly and did my morning skincare routine. I then opened my hairdryer and started drying my hair. When my hair was dry, I straightened it a bit before putting on some light makeup. I stepped out of the shower, wearing a robe and went to my walk-in closet to get some clothes.

"Jongin, what should I wear?" I asked him. He simply answered, "Anything. Because you look pretty in everything."

I playfully whined at him, making him chuckle lightly, turning of the television and closing the sliding door. "Go on, I'm not looking. Choose something casual. Because I'm not lying when I said you literally look good in everything."

I peeked at the door one last time, checking if he wasn't really peeking before getting some clothes and walked to my dressing area. It's not that I don't trust him or anything, It's just that I can't take my chances. I slowly wore my clothes.

I quickly stepped out and opened the door, seeing him leaning against the wall beside it, looking away. "Yah! What are you doing there? You could've just waited at the chair beside you right now." I lectured him.

"I just wanna wait for you here. Now let me see." He said.
