8 Talent test (1)

The hands were slapped out in an instant giving the kid no time to ponder over his words.

A loud sound echoed everywhere as his hand reached the unlucky kid's cheek, scaring other kids that were within the same carriage, they started to move farther away from him, deeper into the carriage fearing that they would be the next one.

"Hey, hey don't slap the kid like that."

"What if you accidentally kill him?"

"Ahh... sorry!"

"Anyways time for us to take off your blindfold, prepare yourself, young folks."

Right after, the blindfolds that had been stuck to their faces since they were taken away from their so-called home vanished slowly into thin air, giving them back their visions.

Zheng Lin slowly opened his eyes, the first thing that he had his focused on was the man who was responsible for his kidnap.

But to his disappointment, their face was shrouded in darkness resting behind the hood that was covering their head, giving him no chance to imprint their face onto his mind.

Seeing that he couldn't see their face, he turned his head and looked around him.

The first thing that caught his attention was a pair of huge stones that stood proudly in the middle of the space where he was currently at, to the side was a table paired with yet another unknown man.

Yet unlike any other man, this guy's face was not shrouded in darkness, he was rather old judging by his face, he wore a dark robe that had a coffin imprinted on the left side of it.

So is that a symbol that represents this evil organisation?

Well, it doesn't matter... but it seems like they are forcefully recruiting us into their organization huh?

There was one ink pen and several other books neatly lying on the table.

"Greeting Elder Xing." They all bowed down right after he appeared out of nowhere sitting on the chair, and greeted him in the most respectful way that they were capable of.

"Hmm, your job here is done, now go out to the tasks main building and get your rewards." Elder Xing replied while his eyes were scanning the newcomer who was standing in front of him awkwardly.

After elder Xing gave out his instructions, all of them bowed down and retreated from the cave.

Elder Xing watched them retreating patiently, and after they were all gone, he turned to the kids standing in front of him. He then explained "You guys should be curious about what's about to happen, don't you? Fear not, these two pairs of stones won't do any harm to you.

These two stones are responsible for testing your talent, to determine whether you are worthy of our investment or not, for those who are worthy, I will hand out a contract for you. Naturally, the contract treatment will be up to your talent."

As for those who are not worthy? Everybody presented could clearly tell what would happen to those who had no talent in cultivation, they prayed silently in their heart hoping that they would not be the unfortunate ones to face this.

"Okay, before we begin I will have to explain something to you guys, talents are normally divided into five levels, A talent, B talent down to E talent and if you're below that, it means that you won't be able to cultivate."

"Come up and place your hand on the left stone when I call your name."

"Wan Xue!" Elder Xing called out.

one of the kids among Xian Long's groups, whom Zheng Lin had communicated with, walked out slowly onto the stone.

Upon arriving he raised his shaking hand up and placed it on the stone with the expectation of being talented enough to be valued by the organization.

After making contact with the stone using his hand, nothing changes on the stone. Seeing this Wan Xue started to get anxious, he turned to look at Elder Xing with fear in his eyes.

But Elder Xing just stared at him and the stone without saying anything. After a while, a sign appeared slowly on the stone saying "IIII".

Only then did Elder Xing open his mouth and announce "Wan Xue, D talent"

Then he took out an ink pen and wrote something into the book, when he was done he took out a contract from the table draw.

"Come and sign this contract, kid."

Wan Xue who seemed to be lost in his thoughts, woke up and made his way toward Elder Xing excitedly. When he arrived close to Elder Xing, he bowed down and thanked him repeatedly before taking the contact.

Holding the contract in his hand, he just stood there awkwardly as he didn't know how to sign the contract. Elder Xing who was monitoring his every action then said "Ahem, just sign it in your name using your blood"

Wan Xue looked at his finger before he bit his pointy finger, blood began to flow out of his blood vessel, and just before the blood could be dropped onto the ground, he stuck it out and wrote something onto the contract.

Right after he was done signing his name, the contract in his hand suddenly turned into dust and disappeared from his sight, seeing that, everybody stared in awe. One at how amazing the things that they just saw were, and second at how lucky Wan Xue was.

Then a dark crow appeared out of thin air and stood on Wan Xue shoulder. Elder Xing then threw out a token as he explained "This crow will be your companion from now on, it will guide you to your residence and the Hall of Exchange, when you get to the Hall of Exchange I strongly advise you to exchange for the basic information about our organization as well as the cultivating method.

The token will be mainly used for identity confirmation and especially used to exchange for stuff in the Hall of Exchange, it has many functions but you will have to explore by yourself. The merit point will be added to your token by me according to how talented you are, so no need to worry about having no merit points to exchange for stuff that is necessary for you to get started."
