##Chapter 8 A Purposive Marriage

"So everything is schemed by my father. He wants to kill me and get the property."

Sharon looked pale. The video made their family affection over the years evaporate.

"Don't be sad. You've known all of it. He is not your father. The reason he approached your mother was only for the property of the Evans family. It's unworthy of feeling sorry for the scum."

"They are not my family. They took care of my mother and me only for the property. So who is my birth father?" asked Sharon in surprise.

Looking at this man, Sharon's eyes were brimming with tears.

"It's unclear yet." Nathan looked at her with distress in his eyes.

What the girl had experienced touched his innermost feelings. It reminded him of a past event. He couldn't help raising his hand to stroke Sharon's pale face.

"Can you help me?"

Sharon held Nathan's hand. Now, she possessed nothing.

Nathan froze, "You want me to help you?"

Sharon nodded, and her eyes showed a hint of sternness. She answered in a fierce tone. "Yes. I need your help. I want to get back everything that belongs to me. Those are what my mother left for me. Besides, who on earth is my birth father? You can find it out, can't you?"

Finishing her words, Sharon stared at Nathan. At the moment, Nathan was like a savior to her. Sharon could hardly set herself against the Evans family both in capability and strength.

Nathan looked at Sharon seriously. His deep eyes could barely be seen through.

After stunning for a while, Nathan stood up, saying, "OK. But I have a catch."

"What's that?"

"Marry me."

"What?"

Sharon widened her eyes and stared at Nathan. She knew nothing about the man except for his name and address. Was it a reckless suggestion?

"You can think it over."

Nathan's firm tone didn't sound like a joke. But it indeed sounded ridiculous. Sharon knew she had nothing to lose. Why did she care about whom she would marry?

"I agree."

Nathan was a bit surprised on hearing the answer.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. But it's a hidden marriage. You can't make it public."

Nathan gave a slight smile at Sharon. There was joy in his eyes. "Don't you need a serious consideration?"

"I know what's the most important to me now. Let's go to register now."

Looking at her in front of him, Nathan asked again, "Is this only because you want my help?"

"Yes. Cut the crap. Let's do it now."

"Huh? You wanna go now?"

...

At the circuit court.

"OK, the form is done here. Here's your marriage license..."

"A ceremony shall be held within 60 days..."

"Congratulations..."

...

Holding the license in her hand, Sharon looked up at the man in front of her. How dramatic it was! She was going to marry a guy called Nathan Harris.

"Do you really marry me to get my help?" Nathan popped the same question.

Sharon replied in a self-mockery tone. "Yeah. What otherwise do you think?"

"Oh, you made such a casual decision on the big event. Do you understand what I'm like?"

Nathan asked in a meaningful tone. He frowned and showed confusion in his eyes.

Sharon slightly smiled. After the survival and strike, marriage was a piece of cake for her.

"If you had asked me that question earlier, I might be interested and think it over. But now... doesn't matter." Sharon glanced at Nathan and strode away.

"Interesting!" Nathan wore a meaningful smile. There was joy and surprise in his eyes.

"Please, Mrs. Harris."

Nathan opened the car door and said in a teased tone. He held her by the waist and sent her into the car.

The sudden shift of identity and physical contact frightened Sharon. She didn't know how to react. Would they do what real couples do?

Sharon suddenly blushed and her heart raced. She felt a little embarrassed.

Nathan got in the car. Seeing her lovely blush, he couldn't help laughing out.

Although he only made a slight sound and it vanished right away, Sharon still felt nervous. She coughed slightly to relieve the awkwardness between them.

"Aren't you feeling good?"

"Ah... nope." Sharon turned her head away to escape from his gaze.

"Why did you cough?"

Sharon was confused whether his words were concern or mock.

"I..."

"Because you were thinking about our intimacy, right?"

Hearing that, Sharon couldn't help rolling her eyes. Why did he talk about such an awkward topic with her?

When they went back to the villa, Nathan said, "You must be tired. I'll cook now. Please put my stuff upstairs. I only have a pillow. Can you carry it?"

"What?"

Sharon was surprised and she blurted out.

"Yep. But if you feel it heavy, leave it to me. Go have a rest upstairs."

Finishing the words, Nathan went into the kitchen with a smile. He was busy preparing the food in the kitchen.

Seeing the pillow on the sofa, Sharon sighed and walked upstairs.

...

"Are you satisfied with the dinner? Let me know if you need me to adjust the flavor."

"It's so good. Really. I never tasted such soup before. It tastes fresh."

"Soup is good for women."

They smiled at each other. Sharon thought she had never been treated like that.

Under the soft light at night, they had conversations from time to time, creating a warm atmosphere.

"You should take a shower, and let me do the dishes. That's fair."

Seeing the woman walk into the kitchen, Nathan wore a slight smile. "She is indeed interesting," thought he.

Then, a loud bang came to Nathan's ears.

"What's wrong? Are you all right?"

"No problem. Don't worry about me. The bowls are close, and they bumped each other. But it's no big deal. I can handle it"

"Puff… Haha."

Hearing Sharon's reply, Nathan laughed out. He murmured, "She speaks such humorous words in such moment. She is really funny."
