A diary

Breaking what I think may be the twelfth pickaxe.

Rest in pieces copper pickaxe.

I was surprised you even lasted that long.

I moved back to the house which had been renovated complety.

The skeleton who was most likely the previous owner had already been buried in a casket made of planks I made.

And is now marked by a gravestone I personally carved.

The old broken cabin however.

Was now anything but an old dilapated building that was an insult to buildings, although it was most likely due to the harshness of time.

I could tell that it was a cozy home before the owners passing.

And in my renovations when reconstructing the home.

I found a small diary.

And maybe it was a boon from the God of Fun and Games but I knew how to read the strange words.

Which looked like nothing I knew of besides having maybe Japanese and Korean relations.

But it went something like this.

---

I write down in this diary for any future people who may find this place.

This is cursed ground as this will be final death bed.

So I don't recommend you to stay here.

But please use this place as your sanctuary if you may want.

But I will tell you my story.

I was a king that ruled over a small but prosperous kingdom.

I will not reveal the kingdoms name for I am the cause of that kingdoms doom

Everything I had was only due to my ancestors and ancient ancestry so I tried to rule over the people with a wise but heavy fist.

Just like my ancestors.

My kingdom which was a prosperous one had good relations with several neighbouring ones and we provided valuable mining resources.

I solved all the problems that popped up daily.

Life was good and the people were happy.

And that was until a tyrannical king who dreamed of becoming an emperor found me.

He who was known as a conqueror came to me one day with a demand.

To surrender and come under his rule so that he could expand his empire.

And I being the king that I was feared for my citizens lives and agreed.

I may have been viewed as a cowardly king due to my choice.

But I regretfully had to doom hundreds of thousands of my citizens because of one of his demands.

To hand over the royal hairloom that was the symbol of the kingdom over as a sign of surrender.

Of course I couldn't do that as in doing so he would use it not for its intended use but for war.

Thus condemning the wishes of my ancestors for centuries.

So I refused.

But I should've expected a harsh retaliation from the conqueror.

As the next day my kingdom was besieged.

It was all my fault.

Although I stood on the front lines every single day of my life killing the unfortunate souls who were only following their orders.

I couldn't stop the kingdoms fall.

City after city was taken as more and more people died everyday.

But I couldn't surrender.

I feel sorry for the brave and courageous soldiers for fighting until the end for their foolish king.

I also feel sorry for my loyal and powerful knights for believing in this stupid and idiotic king until the end.

I was a coward.

And after losing my kingdom and the people who believed in me I could only have my revenge by killing the conqueror.

And although I know that man was a murderous monster who feels no remorse after killing millions.

I couldn't help but feel stupid.

But it was true as I was a stupid, cowardly, idiotic, foolish and terrible king.

That is my story.

Sorry for those who have read my story as these words are the last grievances of this foolish king.

For those who have read my words.

In the back my diary you may find a key hidden under the leather.

And under the floor boards under the table there is a box.

There inside lays the very thing that was the cause of my kingdoms doom.

It alongside it contains the legacy of my kingdom.

I pray, you who have found my corpse to use this legacy wisely, unlike this foolish king.

I do not seek an honourable death so please throw my bones to the slimes.

Do not honour me.

- Signed The Foolish king Alexander Dara Chelsea the fifth

---

Seeing the note at the end of the book I stayed silent for a while.

And like any honourable and emotional man I read his story.

Quite the contradicting story when the Cowardly king fought on the front lines.

The Foolish king ruled with a wise but heavy fist.

The Stupid king who solved all his problems with intelligence and wit.

The Idiotic king who refused to hand over an incredibly dangerous weapon to a murderous and psychopathic conqueror.

The Terrible king who had his people follow him even until death.

I can't help but feel sorry for him.

So the least I could do was give him a burial after burning his body and putting his ashes into a poor jar made of stone.

Sighing I balanced myself on the edges of my seat and stared at the wise kings legacy.

Set aside on a table I stared.

Perhaps because it was properly preserved unlike the rest of the cabin.

The items within were in better shape than I had thought.

Wrapped within several rags and inside a box.

Was a set of broken armour which was just cracked and hadn't even started to accumulate rust.

The sword was in similar condition as besides missing the better part of its blade and being chipped in places.

It was in good condition.

Keeping the armour and sword in my inventory I stared at the so called legacy he was talking about.

Besides a broken half crown that was definitely his crown.

There was a vial of an unknown liquid and a strange orb.

"What even is this so called treasure, that a war was fought over it?"

Holding the orb I couldn't see what was so amazing about it.

But when I held the vial of an unknown red liquid however.

Feeling a vibration in my inventory which was opened with a wave of my hand.

The egg popped out quickly and I had to catch it to prevent its break.

Holding the egg and vial in both hands I stared at the egg.

"Do you want this vial?"

Feeling an increase in the vibrations I just stared at it before giving the egg the liquid.

It should be good when a god literally gave it to me and recommended I hatch it.

Biting off the cork and quickly spitting it out I poured the liquid onto the egg.

Because I literally had no other way to 'feed' it and it took my blood well enough.

And it seemed to work as the blood upon contacting the egg disappeared as it got absorbed into it.

All the way to the point of the vial being empty.

Raising an eyebrow as the egg seemed to transfer it's emotions, that being happy, to me.

I held it softly.
