Ch 8; Mixed Priorities

"I miss you every single day Kyra , I love you every single day, I dream about you every single day , even up until this morning"

She looked at him , she was still in the same room with him , when she knew she could have followed her sister back to her room , escaping him and leaving him to do whatever it is he has decided to do , but she did not, she could not. She could not get away from him , she could not bring herself to put her words into action. Why is she craving him so much even after what she has been through, and after the hurtful words she had said to him? " My sisters and I nearly died trying to get away because of the mess you put me in, but I could not even discuss any of the troubles I passed through with them because it was too humiliating. Do you know how it has been eating me up deep inside? So you know how badly I have wanted to tell them so that can console me ? Do you know how I want to tell them about the wickedness I did because I wanted to save myself? What makes you think I still want to have anything at all to do with you ? " She finished, pressing her fine lips together.

"Kyra , did it occur to you that I have been beating myself for what had happened that day too? Do you know that it almost destroyed me too ? Did you even care to think what might have happened that day , did you think about what might have been holding me off , why I could not follow you , why you didn't see me ? Did you not think I might also have been in danger , fighting for my life as much as I was fighting for yours? Kyra, do you even love me ? " The hurt was eating him up , it was breaking his heart into pieces , he wanted to leave her alone until when he was fully ready to see the pain in her eyes and the pain in his own heart.

"Once upon a time, I did. Yes, I loved you " She deliberately uses the past tense, so she could get on his nerves and it did. His eyes changed, she could see he was fuming and he was using all his strength to not show it. And that pleased her very much, she continued " I didn't want to believe that you would betray me or leave me when I needed you the most, but you did. There is nothing to hear from you, I just wanted to know if I was important to you , but you have shown me plenty of times that I was not. And I have come to accept that, I have moved on , that is how life is , you should move on too "

Although it pained him so much to hear her say those words to him , he was grateful that she was finally talking to him , arguing with him , finally saying what she feels inside , because the Kyra he knows would run away from any argument if it inconvenienced her. " Yes , I accept that you have every right to feel the way you are feeling but I will not leave you until I am sure you are safe again , if at the end of everything you have not convinced yourself that you still love me or if you don't find yourself forgiving me , then I will let you be . But first, let me help you this time. I just encountered a ruthless Beta spying on you , you don't think I will let you be without protection "

" I can protect myself, and besides, I thought you said he is not here for me ?"

I will let myself out " He stood up , and let himself out of the balcony into the blackness of the night before she could make another statement. He was gone , just as silent as he had come. Without looking back.

As he made his way to his new home for the rest of his stay in the pack , he felt the hurt overshadowing him , the whole thing must have hurt her more than he had thought it did. Maybe she should have rejected her when he found out that they were mates , maybe everything that they were going through now would have been avoided , and none of them would be as hurt as they are feeling at that moment. He will protect her with the last strength in him and with the title that he has finally gotten by birth.

As he was making his way to his front door , he had a change of mind to clear his mind and his head. He took another route , shifted into his werewolf form, and ran as wild as he could and as far as he could. It was almost morning when he went back.

" I didn't want to believe it when I heard you were in our pack , Alpha Conri, " A bold and tall lean figure said as he stayed in front of his front porch , and has probably been there waiting for him to come back.

" Kyle ! My friend ! forgive me for not calling you sooner than I intended to. I had some unfinished business , he hugged the man . He had had the privilege to meet good friends because of his background and Kyle had been one of them.

" I can hardly make offense Conri, you have graced us with your presence, I can only be grateful," he said laughing.

" You went out on a run ? Or did you really come out this early to check if the rumors were true "

" Oh I could hardly wait to see you my friend , but you make my blood boil at the same time. Because the only thing I can think about is beating you in any game at all "

" Oh Kyle , don't tell me you are still hung up on my last win. It's been years my friend , you can forget about it now "

" Oh no , you know how it is for me to take anything off my mind until I get it done and out of the way "

" I need my sleep Kyle , we can do this another time " Conri was happy to see a friend he was familiar with and could use another brain exercise , in whatever form.

" No , I want it now , you don't actually think I will win this time, do you? " He said with a smirk on his face obviously egging him on , knowing Conri to always fall for any challenge.

" I see what you are trying to do Kyle , but I need it too so let us go for it "

The two men took off their clothes again. They did all the things Kyle wanted them to do because he felt it was his chance , even though Conri won every single run , dive, and hunt.

He was glad that Kyle had come to look for him that morning just as if he knew what he needed. Like he knew he need to give himself the excuse of not doing any single thing until the next day again , purely exhausted , something for him to hold on to, pouring himself to sleep. He was not ready to see her again , at least not yet . . .

" No ! No please , let me go ! " Dani screamed out loud , fighting against her attacker , kicking and biting , but it seems not to be doing much.

" Stay still, Witch " Viktor said under his breath

" I think you have the wrong person , I am not a witch ! I am a werewolf , and I have only had an encounter with a witch once in my life. And trust me , we were not even friends "

" I know who you are Dani Kessler , I am doing this because of you "

" What are you, dumb ? How can you kidnap me on my way home , and you are saying it is because of me ? Let me go back home before my sister finds out that I have left the house at all " she said but it seemed Viktor was just bent on carrying out is the mission

" Just put me down. I promise not to mention your name to my sisters , in fact, I won't mention your name to anyone at all. Look, hold on " she said trying to find the words to convince him "I don't even know your name , I don't know your face , Nobody in this pack will hear about this, not even my sister. . . " She realized she was repeating the same thing " Just let me go " She cried

" I don't find myself doing that , I cannot allow my mate to be washed off between the problems of those two "

" What the heck are you saying ? what mate ? those two ? who are you talking about ? I am not even eighteen yet , I do not have a mate "

" Just shut the heck up for the rest of our journey , then maybe I will tell you about it. But now , just relax and enjoy the ride "
