Another day in human body

Morning came.

Norn wake up slowly, expecting himself to be in Erika's hands...

However, when he opened his eyes he found himself in his room, back in his previous life.

"Fuck you."

He thought angrily.

Why did it only happen now? He wanted to feel the bliss of waking up in a woman's embrace!

Sadly, it wasn't meant to be.

He didn't even know what to do now that he was here.

To try and heal himself?

What bullshit, he couldn't cast the healing spell even once in a hundred or so tries.

More than that, since his mana capacity was now several times lower than it is in the other world he cant even cast it that many times.

Forget about other things like locating something with mana & stuff, it was simply too hard.

Even if he succeeded... So what? After locating the remove he wouldn't be able to do anything with it.

As such, the only thing he could do was to watch the fucking melodrama and pray that news with useful information were scheduled every 30 minutes or so...

...

Some time later voice from the TV reported:

"... Due to unexpected occurences of several large-scale vortexes in the sky long-distance flights are cancelled..."

"..."Those worlds feel like fantasy worlds with dragons and magic, sadly they are too dangerous to just wander around" were first words of a person that just returned from a vortex..."

Norn didn't find any of it interesting.

It was all boring.

He, however, noticed a thing that did interest him quite a bit.

It was the time difference. Right now, it was the next day after the one he was in before when he was here last time.

As such, there definitely was a time difference.

More than that, if he woke up in Erika's embrace next time he was in his goblin body...

He would be completely lost.

It wouldn't make any sense at all.

How could it be that no matter how much time he spent in one of the worlds he would always wake up in the next day?

That was just too strange for him. His shallow knowledge wasn't enough to understand any of it.

"Okay, so when i spent a day here, a night passed in the other world."

He tried his best not to lose his line of thought

"But when i spent two days in the other world, only a night passed here? How does that even work, then? Do i just wake up the next morning no matter what?"

His head started to hurt at this point.

Mind you, it was not all he had in his head, just a shortened version of it.

"So, on what basis am i even transported between those? Is there a time limit? What if i dont go to sleep, or something wakes me up?.."

It was just too hard.

There were too many things he thought about, but no matter what it was he couldn't understand any of it.

...

"... Strange creatures that invaded our world through the vortexes are now being studied, scientists say that they possess a strange aura that affects electroincs..."

Norn's ears twitched as he heard it.

"Looks like they found mana, fucking hell."

It wasn't a good thing for him.

If people of this world got used to mana he could get exposed.

He didn't even know what was going on, but one thing was certain - nobody should know about it.

Whether it be his knowledge of mana, his spells or even his other body.

All of it must be a secret no matter what.

Even if it costed him this body of his... His new life was too precious to give up.

So what if he wasn't a human? He had a girlfriend!

More than that, he was strong, his "weapon" was much bigger as well!

This body, however? Short, ugly, untrained.

Even his stats were low now...

Whatever it was, he didn't need this world.

Soon, as he was about to go deeper into his thoughts one again...

"... A huge explosion just rang near one of the giant vortexes..."

"... It seems that a giant structure is emerging from it!.."

"... Reports prove that the stucture is a tower made from an unkown material..."

"... Doesn't seem like it is of any danger, watch Bear News for sooner updates..."

"Fucking hell, first dungeons, now there's a tower?"

Norn thought as he looked on the TV screen.

He clearly saw a tower. It was pitch-black at looked like the one you would see in some typical novels.

It wasn't any different from them, and Norn even thought that he could find a picture that depicted this exact one...

"The fuck is going on? It's like some moronic god decided to make novels come true..."

It was all just too strange.

His world was as normal as could be, so why did those things happen?..

Whatever the reason was, he was grateful.

He got a beautiful lady, a new body, he could even use magic now!

It was all just too good!

[Congratulations! You have been chosen by the system!]

[Please, choose a skill to your liking!]

Suddenly, a bluish panel appaered before Norn, it's style was just like the one his status window had.

"Chosen? A fucking skill for free? Dont mind if i do!"

Three different panels were infront of him.

[Icy Soul]

[Foul Desire]

[Final Stand]

After a brief pause Norn's mind was empty.

Only one question was in it:

"What the fuck are those? How do i even see what they do for gods sake?"

Those names were just too obscure.

They could literally mean anything.

Icy soul? Would he become that cold FMC from a cultivation novel or something? Fuck that, they were too plain.

Foul desire? It's not like his desires weren't already foul, will that skill make them even worse?

Those two skills were just too dumb. Even if they weren't what he thought they are, how would he know?

It's not like he could look what they actually do or anything...

The last one, however? That one sounded like something a random MC would use to overpower a boss in the crucial moment...

However, as he was about to finally choose his skill or try to at least touch the panel...

"Dont fucking tell me..."

A moment later he finally realised...

He couldn't even choose a skill! He needed to move his hands to do so!

"I fucking hate the retard that made it, first i cant even read what a skill does, now i cant fucking choose it because i cant move? DID HE NOT FUCKING THINK ABOUT THAT AT ALL!?"

In the end of his thought he was screaming in his mind.

It was just too unfair.

Former problem was already too much, not in a million years would there be such a game or a novel where one couldn't see what a skill does.

The latter, however?.. Why in the name of god he could summon his status panel by thinking, but couldn't choose the skill in the same manner?

After feeling the stupidity of this system for a while he gave up.

He couldn't even close the window as it now blocked his vision.

He didn't see anything but corners of the tv!

It was just too stupid! It blocked it almost perfectly!

Norn almost began to think that it's just a joke that the system played on him...

Whatever it was, he didn't have anything better to do now.

He could only train his spells.

...

10 or so hours later Norn was finally too tired to continue.

He couldn't even think of anything.

As his study concluded, if he tried to use his spells as soon as his mana was just barely enough for it...

It would cause his mental stability to go down.

His head hurt, he couldn't see properly, it all felt like a concussion he experienced when he was little.

Symptoms were practically the same.

As such, he wouldn't do such a thing unless it was absolutely necessary. It was too unpleasant.

In all those hours he practied he didn't forget to listen to the TV.

Even if he couldn't see it he could still hear.

Sadly, most of the time it was just some bullshit about Juan fucking Jozeppe or something like that.

News, however, gave him some useful infromation.

He knew that there weren't that much portals in his area, which was good.

A bad thing was that he had a tower near him.

Two kilometers away from his house, which was close enough.

If he could walk, he would've strode to see how it looked like in reality.

Even if he wasn't allowed to get in too close, watching it from far away wasn't too bad either.

Another thing was that he could vaguely feel something strange coming from a certain direction.

Norn didn't know what it really was, as it was just a really hot objected somewhere far.

You knew that it was somewhere because it was hot, but locating the source of that heat?

A bit too hard for an untrained person.

Nonetheless, Norn tried doing it>

What else is there to do? Listen to a fucking melodrama in the background?

Nah, wasn't an option. If his intelligence stat wasn't already low it would've become lower if he did.

...

An hour or so of trying didn't bring any results whatsoever.

Norn already gave up on it, he realised that he needed much more practice to be able to do it.

Whatever it was, it was massive.

He could safely assume that it was the tower emanating that aura, what else but it?

However, one thing was knowing what it was by guessing, another thing was proving it.

He wanted the latter.

Norn was already falling asleep, as voice from the TV suddenly attacked his ears:

"Breaking news, a man in strange attire barged into one of the vortexes formed recently. We are currently trying to identify him..."

"Oh, first moron to play hero, i see."

It was funny for him. He awakened a day before that guy did. It was obvious who won in this race.

He, however, realised that even if he awakened earlier... he couldn't be stronger than that guy...

He was a fucking cripple now... His goblin form?

Well, perhaps... But it was too early to tell, this guy didn't show any of his skill yet.

From the sound of it, however... They said "barged in", so he must've fought or simply ran...

If he showed any abnormal abilities they would've said it on the TV...

They didn't that must mean he's still human-like.

It was a good thing for Norn, he had much more time than others in that regard.

Even if he was a cripple here... He wasn't in the other world.

More than that, he actually had access to a real mage!

Even if she wasn't some godly fuck-all archmage... she still knew what magic was.

As such, his situation was better than that of most of the people that were also chosen by the system.

So what if they had some badass skills? He had them as well!

Well, it's not like he did now... But still, it was somewhat fine.

It's not like that thing could time out or something, right?..

"... Witnesses say that the man that ran in was an employee of Get&Go restaurant, a good man with a good background, none expected him to ran in like that..."

The TV wasn't too loud but Norn could hear it clearly. It was just too quiet here.

"A normal guy eh? Probably a fucking weeb just like i am. Why else would he do that? He feels powerful now..."

He exhaled as he said it... It was a bit too sad that he couldn't do the same thing...

His only hope was that he would finally understand how to use the spell to fix himself.

Of course, he wouldn't do what this guy did, he was basically asking to be experemented on at this point...

Norn wasn't the smartest guy ever, but at least he knew what he could and what he couldn't do.

As such, he decided to finally get to sleep. He was too exhausted to continue thinking...
