1 Prologue

Thunderous explosions came one after another. Loud whizzing sounds came through the air, penetrating what's left of the land. The sky turns crimson, foreshadowing what's about to come, while many shadows battles out for the control of the sky. The next moment, far away from the battlefield, a deafening sound came. It was the enormous state-of-the-art artillery. A flash from its muzzles came to which, after a moment, a loud explosion came, destroying what's left of the no-man's-land. They called it the no-man's-land, as it is filled with dead bodies of men and no living thing sprouts from the land.

There were two sides of the battlefield, the side of the Imperial Federation, and the other side was the Confederation of States. The battle was very violent as casualties sky rocketed, to no avail. The upcoming battle will decide the outcome of the war.

After the deafening explosions of the artillery, an eerie silence followed suit. At the side of the Imperial Federation, an officer was surveying the surroundings from his makeshift trench. This was Ferdinand Anshelm, and he was a veteran of the war. After he surveyed the surroundings, Ferdinand looked to his sides to see his comrade-in-arms sweating bullets. They both nodded at each other. Ferdinand then stood up, and took a deep breath to which he grabbed his trench whistle from his neck, and blew it hard as the vultures can hear. An eerie sound came out of the trench whistle to which was followed by an order from Ferdinand.

"Charge!" Said Ferdinand.

With a single word, thousands of soldiers moved out of the trenches and into enemy territory. Expecting small resistance, turns into a horror, as many lights came from the side of the enemy. After a few moments of the lights disappearing, many people fell down and died. These shocked the many younglings that have just arrived, but to the veterans, this was a daily occurrence. To the horror of the recruits. The lights suddenly keeps on appearing and deafening sounds came with it. The younglings tried to retreat, but as they were about to step back, they heard a shot from their behind. It was another officer.

"I will shoot those who dares to run away from the battlefield!" Said the officer.

The officer was furious and so he pointed his pistol at the younglings, which made the younglings to continue charging towards the enemy out of fear of being shot by their own officers. To the side, there was Ferdinand with his Mark 1 Bolt-Action Rifle. He was prone on the ground, picking off every unfortunate soul that shows their head.

Ferdinand was nervous, as according to the briefing, that this battle could just be possible to decide the outcome of the war and he was one of the commanding officer that supervise the battlefield. They call it operation eagle down, even though Ferdinand was almost desensitized by the many battles that he took part in, he could never let go of his humanity. Because only through humanity one could understand the different parts of life. What's the point of understanding something if you're blind to see it.

The battle was going through a very long time as both sides weren't willing to give an inch of land, without the other side paying dearly for blood. Ferdinand moved from cover to cover while shooting back at the enemy. Slowly but surely, they were advancing towards the enemy trenches and luckily there was a wide opening for them to charge, as Ferdinand could see them now from dozens of meters away.

With this golden opportunity, Ferdinand hold his breath and inhaled deeply. He then grabbed once again his trusty trench whistle and blew it hard once again, to which it alerted his comrades. Ferdinand then stood up and shouted.

"Charge! Victory is upon us! God's with us!"

After Ferdinand said those words, the battle intensified, as both sides were shouting for their nation.

Tattered bodies littered the land as rats feeds on the rotting bodies, with the vultures joining in the hunt as they flew high in the sky.

A few moments have passed, and Ferdinand charged at the enemy trench while firing his Mark 1 Pistol, but unfortunately for Ferdinand, a shadow moved above the battleground to which it exploded into a bright light. This light blinded Ferdinand's vision, and he tripped over a fallen tree branch.

Every person on the battlefield stared at the bright light as if an angel has descended from the heavens. Meanwhile, Ferdinand felt something cold, as if blood was leaking out of his body. He felt numb; he was scared and nervous. After he struggled for some air to breathe, his body finally gave up and he lost consciousness.

Many of the soldiers from both nations suffered the same fate, but none of them will suffer the same fate as Ferdinand will suffer.

-----

The sky was dyed with the color blue as far as the eye can see on the horizon; the wind blew gentle winds towards the damp forest. We can see a person lying in the meadows, the person was wearing tattered imperial uniform. With a gentle breeze of the warm sky, the person opened his eyes.

"H-hm" the person muttered

The person sat up and look through his surroundings.

"W-What?" The person was flabbergasted

This is none other than Ferdinand Anshelm it confused him as to what is happening. He was sure that he died earlier. Ferdinand look through his uniform, to which confirmed his guesses. He must have died, he thought. But that doesn't change the fact that his still alive currently. When Ferdinand was about to be overwhelmed by what was happening., a strange sound was heard in his head.

After scrolling for a while, Ferdinand was shocked at the many functions that the system has for him. He couldn't help but take a deep breath to see what he was seeing. Slowly but surely, he drifted into his imagination while ignoring the current situation he was in. But then suddenly, as if breaking out of his imagination, he thought that he almost forgot to ask what kind of world he was sent into. So he asked about it to the system.

"What kind of world was I sent into?"
