3 The Monster From the Book

In a remote place far from the city of Tempest -

.

In a large deserted place, far from the city of Tempest, three figures can be seen in the middle of the desert. And they are Rimuru, Milim and Veldora.

Rimuru was wearing his combat gear, being prepared for anything that can happen. Veldora was wearing a polo shirt, shorts and flip-flops presented to him by Rimuru. And Milim was wearing her usual revealing outfit.

''Should we really do this? I have a bad feeling about this...'' Rimuru asked worriedly, with the strange book in his hands.

''Hahahaha! Fret not, partner! I, Veldora are here!'' Veldora replied while laughing.

''Nah?! I-I'm here too, Rimuru! I am much more useful than this old lizard, trust me more! After all we are besties-nanoda!'' Milim in response, trying to compete with Veldora for some reason.

''Who are you calling an old lizard, you brat!''

''Haaah?! Call me that one more time and I'll make myself a new pair of gauntlets out of your skin, you old lizard!''

''Wanna to fight, you shitty brat?!''

''Bring it on old man!!''

Ignoring the childish quarrel of the two beings who could easily destroy a continent, Rimuru sank into thought.

'Raphael-san, how is the book scanning going? Any news?' Rimuru thought.

[Final answer: This book is not of this Dimension. The material that this book is made of doesn't exist anywhere in this world. The runes and letters on the cover don't exist in any human or runic alphabet. The book emits dark energy, but it is similar to cosmic energy, slightly below the Stardust energy used by the individual Milim Nava. In conclusion, it's a spellbook that shouldn't exist in this world.]

'Its not from this dimension...?'

The urgency of this matter has just been raised to several levels in Rimuru's head, but the need to know what this book is has also increased, as Rimuru has already tried to destroy the book, and nothing has happened. It's as if the book is protected by a barrier that ignores any and all damage according to some tests and Raphael's analysis.

He needed to know what this book is, and what's inside it, so he could find a way to destroy it. Rimuru turned to Veldora and Milim who were still arguing, and made up his mind.

''Veldora, Milim!''

''Grrrrr-Eh? Ah! W-What is it, partner?''

''Nunununu-!! I-I wasn't fighting! I swear-nanoda!''

''I decided! Let's open this book! If something happens, I count on your help!''

Veldora nodded in agreement, and Milim began jumping excitedly with stars in her eyes.

'' Oho~! Quick, open the book! open it quickly-noda!''

''Right, right. Calm down, first we need to put up some protective barriers.'' Rimuru said with a sigh upon seeing Milim's animation.

'How bored is she?' Rimuru thought.

Rimuru, with the help of Veldora and Milim, raised an extremely strong and durable barrier, so durable that he was sure he couldn't break the barrier.

'As expected from two calamities, the strength of this barrier is ridiculous.'

''All right, the barrier is active, now we just need to open the book and see what's inside. Are you two ready?''

''Umu! Leave it to me!''

''Don't worry, Rimuru! A book is no match for me-noda! Wahahaha!''

''Hehe.'' Rimuru smiled at the confidence of his friends and prepared to open the book. He took a deep breath and concentrated.

''Now!''

In a quick movement, Rimuru opened the book and quickly walked away from it, appearing beside Milim and Veldora.

The opened book fell on the floor, it still emitted the wicked aura from before, but now it was visible to the naked eye. Veldora and Rimuru watched the book cautiously, while Milim was increasingly excited to see what's in the book.

But after a few minutes, nothing happened.

''.....Nothing happened, maybe the book is not dangerous?'' Rimuru asked, intrigued.

''I don't know, partner. It's better to still be cautious, the book is giving off an even stronger evil aura than when it was closed.'' Veldora replied, still remaining cautious.

''Boooh~ how boring-dazo.'' Milim said disappointed while making circles in the sand with her finger.

A vein popped in Rimuru's forehead, at the thought that Milim would really like something like a monster to come out of the book, just so she could fight and have fun.

''Don't be like this, Milim! it's good that nothing bad happened.'' Said Rimuru, lecturing Milim.

''It's not that I'm sad because there is no monsters or anything like that-noda!'' Milim replied while pouting towards Rimuru.

'I knew it.' Rimuru thought as he looked at Milim with an accusatory expression, making Milim look away as she whistled.

Rimuru sighed and decided to ask for the help of the only being that would help him in this situation, as the other two present are basically useless except for their combat power.

'Raphael-san, why has nothing happened?'

[This book is a grimoire, not a book of summoning. If you want something to happen, you need to read the content, not just open it.]

'Urgh....you're right, but how can we read the book? If what is written is in the same language as the cover, there is no way to know what is written.'

[The probability of you not being able to read the book is 100%. However, you'll never know what is inside if you don't try to see the content. Maybe you can understand something.]

'Why does it look like you want me to read the book?'

[It's just your imagination]

'Heeh, I see. So you're also curious about the content of the book, aren't you?'

[It's just your imagination]

'Right.....'

Rimuru took a deep breath and walked towards the book, leaving Veldora and Milim perplexed. He decided he was going to destroy the book, and if he needs to read to know how, then he won't stop now.

Rimuru cautiously took the open book, and placed it in front of him with his hands.

''How strange, the book seems to be very thick, but why there is only one page?'' Rimuru decided to ignore this and so he concentrated on the content.

The page is full of unfamiliar words and bizarre drawings of creatures, which gave Rimuru a strange and ghastly feeling.

Suddenly, as Rimuru looked at the page, the words began to transform, surprising Rimuru. The words started to turn into words that Rimuru understood very well...they were transforming in Japanese words.

''What is this....''

'Raphael-san, what happened to the words in the book? Why did they change??'

[I don't know what you mean. The words remain the same unknown words as before.]

''!!''

Hearing Raphael's answer, Rimuru was startled. For Raphael sees what he sees, he is literally connected to Rimuru's soul, but only he could see the letters transforming.

Rimuru was apprehensive, but he couldn't stop now. Rimuru mentally read what was written, and couldn't help saying it out loud:

''Darkness to visit faithful, but Great had ever.

Old The carven idol was great Cthulhu,

None might say or others were like the old but

Things were by word of Mouth.

The chanted secret was never spoken

Only whispered. Chant 'In his house at R'lyeh

Dead, Cthulhu waits of the found be hanged, and

Rest were committed'.

Prance and slay around in by sinking in black else.

World by now be screaming with fright and frenzy.''

Rimuru read the contents over and over, he could understand, but the words didn't make sense. And every time he read it again, he became more and more focused on the book, as if the book is sucking his mind in.

Then, suddently from inside the book, a lot of black hands took shape and slowly got towards Rimuru's head, who was mesmerized by the book.

''Rimuru!!''

''Get out of there, partner!''

[Warning. Unknown entity trying to invade the host's mind. Danger Level: Immeasurable. Activating defense skills.]

''Eh?''

Rimuru came out of his stupor when he heard Veldora, Milim and Raphael speaking to him. It was then that he noticed the black hands ready to grab him.

''Damn it! What are these hands, it's scary!''

Rimuru quickly dropped the book and flyed away close to his companions. But the book didn't stop, more and more hands started coming out of the book, like a black flood.

''Hey! What happened, partner?! Why is this black thing coming out of the book?! It's giving me chills!'' Exclaimed Veldora in combat stance

''I don't know! I only read a few verses, and suddenly something tried to enter my mind!''

''What will come out of the book-noda~! I hope it's a monster-nanoda!'' Said Milim, as she jumped happily with stars in her eyes.

''Milim, now is not the time to celebrate!!''

''Boooh~ but I'm bored-noda....''

''I will play with you lat-! Watch out!!''

Huge black hands flew quickly towards the three, but not fast enough to reach them and the three dodged easily, at least for the time being.

Rimuru turned to face the enemy, but was startled by what he saw. In the place where the book was, was a large black humanoid monster measuring at least ten meters. His body is completely dark and full of red spiral eyes. And in place of the head, there were countless hands of various sizes moving like snakes, like the hair of the Medusa.

''What the heck is this!!''
