A Chat With The Gods

Samuel turned to face Will, his legs crossed as he began to ask the man about the questions that he needed answered.

"First and foremost, can I get your real names and identities?"

"That's a pretty ballsy question for a mortal like you."

"Yeah well you can stay quiet but not much else."

"What makes you so sure about that?"

"The voices in my head. Some of them know a lot about how the system works."

"I forgot that you got cursed by that guy. Alright, I think I can answer your question." Will said before he pointed to himself. "I am William Locke, god of judgment of a few different worlds, this is Marie Locke, my wife, and goddess of pain, Marie. And-"

"I'm Rose Locke! I rule over the fairies."

"Why is my world facing its end?"

"The system takes over the cheapest worlds it can find, which are sold by their owners. Was that not why you were glaring at your world's god?"

"No, actually." Samuel responded. "I only knew that the system takes over worlds that have stagnated or are unwanted. I was glaring at him because despite his power, he chose to give up this world instead of helping save it."

"That's also respectable, I suppose." Will responded while taking a sip of his drink. "You'd be right in saying that your god had given up on you. The destruction your world is facing is a way for gods to find promising seedlings to woo over with promises of saving them."

"I heard that humans aren't worth much compared to other species in the universe."

"You should stop listening to that death knight, Sam." Will retorted while pointing his finger at Samuel. "While humans are weak compared to everything else, you saw how everyone changed once they got power, along with the right to freely apply violence. You, yourself, have only kept your desire for violence restricted due to your world's laws, did you not?"

Samuel wanted to refute William's words, but he couldn't find the words to do so. There were many times when he had been filled with anger, yet chose- had to remain silent. "Yeah, I get it. So what do the other gods want with so many fighters?"

"They use them to garner more faith, more grateful slaves, and more military might to wage war."

"War? Why would they fight one another?"

"That's not something a mortal should know." William quickly responded. "For your, and every other mortal's safety."

"Then tell me. How do these gods get in contact with their chosen?" Questioned Samuel as he fixed his position so he could stretch his wings.

"You'll be told that at the end of these two days, since I don't know if I'm allowed to say it."

"It's fine, isn't it? All he has to do is keep quiet about it to the others." Replied Marie, who was busy fixing Rose's hair. "And from the surveillance, we know the only creatures he trusts are his pets."

"I suppose an antisocial loser who only talks with his pets should keep quiet about it. Through the system's notification, you will see the god's alias, along with what they want to tell, or give you."

"That first part was uncalled for, Will." Samuel spoke before laying down on the floor with a sigh. "What do you suggest I do to pass these two days?"

"You can go check out the training area, where there are plenty of instructors to teach you all need about a subject. There's also the arena, where you and your fellow man can wager something, be that an item or points. And lastly, you can amass wealth in the trading area. Also, go check your room. The one over there." William spoke as he pointed to the outside.

"I'll leave you guys be, then." Samuel spoke as he stood up and flew to the door, before abruptly stopping. "Actually, before I leave." He said while turning to face the family once more. "Why did you give me those skill books when we met?"

"Since we saw everyone in your world was dying so quickly, we decided that we would give every base leader three of the first thing they asked us for to increase your survival chance." Marie answered in Will's stead. "Though, I would have preferred for a little more pain to be inflicted upon your world." The woman answered, her voice quivering and her face twisting in ecstasy. "Ah, those wonderful screams and wails..."

"Mom-"

"Dear, I don't think that's something you're supposed to say to a person whose family could be dead." William stopped her before forcefully sending Samuel out and locking the door.

The void that was Samuel's face was also twisting and contorting, in the complete opposite way. He was so angry that he couldn't resist yelling out.

While the three gods were unaffected, the shadows in his mind quieted down, except for one. "Damn, that wasn't nice of her."

"Death Knight, I will beat your ethereal ass if you don't shut up." Samuel spoke while putting his mask back on.

"Why are you mad at me? If you wanna be mad at someone, you can run in there and get obliterated by the cause of your anger." Death Knight responded with a shrug.

With a sigh, Samuel flew over to his room. He knew that Death Knight's words were the truth, but he was still mad about the insignificance of his life before the gods' might. As he stepped into the room, Samuel ignored everything else and decided to just lay down on the bed prepared for him, thinking of the futility of his struggle, before resolving himself. If god was the reason he had suffered for so many years, he would just get rid of him. It didn't matter if it took a day or a thousand years to attain godhood, he would take god's head and showcase it on a wall like a deer.

"Some dangerous thoughts you're having there, Sammy." Death Knight spoke to Samuel after he made sure of what he was gonna do.

"Gotta set a goal for myself in this Armageddon, especially with the possibility of my entire family being dead."

I apologize about the 3-5 months of radio silence and false promises. I was depressed.

But I'm (probably) back now for a little while.
