Chapter 46

Mia looked at Mike and said, "Molly said I need to pay to eat at the base from now on." Mike's face turned red and said, "how many times do I have to tell her you are a guest."

"I can always cook my own meals, I mean there is a kitchen in here so it shouldn't be a problem," Mia suggested. "Mia the problem isn't if you can cook your own meals. The problem is Molly isn't respecting decisions Kevin and I are making." Mike replied.

Mia looked at Bella and said, "I suppose its would be a problem if more members of the base start to cause trouble like this?" Mia unpacked the boxes and all though she found several pieces of old clothing Mia found a photo album that belonged to her parents. She looked through the album and saw that it told the story of the clover base. She looked at the photos and spotted her parents standing together with a really old guy behind them.

She smiled because her mother was covered in paint and her father held a paint bucket in his hand. "Wow, it looks like dad might have thrown mom with paint," Mia said out loud. Bella was sleeping on the bed as Mia continued to unpack. She found her mothers old diary. Mia found a book with a clover on it. She opened the book and realised it was the story behind the clover base.

The origin of the clover base started out as a single team during a school summer camp. During that camp fire broke out and the whole forest burned down. Team clover survived the fire against all odds purely becasue of their team work. It was a miracle and years later the team started their own rescue base. Believing it was their calling to help save others.

There was a knock on the door that brought Mia out of her thoughts for a second. She opened the door and Red asked, "we're taking the dogs out, you should bring Bella before it gets too late," Red said. He noticed the story with the clover on the cover and asked, "where did you get that book?"

Mia looked at the book and said, "it was in one of the boxes that I brought over from the storage unit," Mia said. "How far have you gotten into that book?" Red asked. "I am currently reading the story behind the origin of the clover base," Mia said.

"How did the base start out?" Red asked. Mia told Red what she had read and said, "I couldn't stop reading it, but I also found a photo album and my mom's old diary," Mia said.

"Wow, all that stuff must be from their school days?" Red asked. As he and Mia walked through the base and Bella followed closely behind Mia said, "I found a photo that was taken of my dad throwing my mom with paint. She was covered in it," Mia said.

"I would have loved to see it?" Red said. "True, but I wish mom and dad told me about these things. All though I like the idea that I opened a time capsule," Mia replied.

Red opened the back door and they let the dogs out into the garden. "What is this about a time capsule I hear?" Kevin asked. "I found a photo of dad throwing mom with paint. She was covered in it but the old man behind them didn't look impressed," Mia said.

"She actually kept that photo?" Kevin asked. "Yes that and a few other things including a book that told the story behind the clover base," Mia said. "What your mother had a copy of that book?" Kevin said. "Yes, why are you aksing unlce?" Mia asked. "I didn't think there was any copy's left. After your grandfather's death the base burned most of the books," Kevin said.

"Why, did they burn the book?" Mia asked.

"Becasue the book tells more than just the history, it tells the story of our family. Not everyone was happy about the book being written," Kevin said. "Is it okay if I read it then?" Mia asked. "I think it is a good thing for you to know but don't talk to the members of the base about it. If you have questions ask me or Mike okay," Kevin said.

Mia went back to her room and unpack the last of the things her parents left behind. She found several pens and books and realised her mother was a real artist. Mia found a DVD among her mother's stuff. She placed the DVD in the DVD player and watched the video recorded on it.

To her shock, Mia realised her mother made a DVD demonstrating her powers. "What if this DVD is what got mom in trouble?" Mia wondered as she quickly turned off the DVD and removed it from the player. It was late into the night as Mia put away the last of the things that mostly her mom left behind. "I am surprised there isn't any more stuff of dad's in these boxes," Mia said out loud.

She turned in for the night but was awaken by a knock on her bedroom door. "Give me the trucks keys I need to go do something?" came a woman's voice. Mia looked to see it was Molly. "No, that truck is private property and not the base's responsibility," Mia said.

"Your really a shellfish person you know that," Molly said and slammed the door. Mia opened the door and found Red standing outside his door. Everyone looked at Mia and she said, "I think i shouldn't have brought the truck here. It's the only thing Molly cares about right now," Mia said.

"She was the one that slammed the door like that?" Red asked. "Yes, I refuse to give he keys since it's private property," Mia said. She was about to go back to bed when she heard a window break. Mia rushed down to the truck and found Molly had taken a crowbar and had broken all the windows on the truck.

"The next time I ask you for something you will give it to me. Do you understand?" Molly said. Mia took a deep breath and said, "you know the camera recorded you braking the windows of the truck right?"

Molly looked shocked at the camera and said, "you're a spoiled tall tale person, you know that." She stormed off and Mia looked at the now broken windowns. Red came in with Kevin on his heals who looked angry at Mia. "Who did this?" he asked. "Molly, the camera should have recorded her," Mia siad.

Molly was trying to delelte the evidence of her crime when Kevin cought her red handed. "Pack your bags you are fired," Kevin siad. "You can not fire me, your the one that took a lazy, selfish brat in like Mia. She will be the reason this base falls," Molly shouted.

"Do not talk to her that way?" Kevin siad. "Or you will do what?" Molly siad.

"sue you for property damage," Mia repleid. Kevin looked at Mia in shock. "I belived my uncles told you to stay away from the truck?" Mia siad.

"So what if i broke all the windows, you deserved it," Molly siad.

Mia started to clean up all the glass when Red came into the garge and said, "looks like we will have to replace all the windows first?" he asked. "Yes and i think its going to cost me a pretty penny," Mia replied.

"Well looks like we will be starting early with the team jobs then?" Red said. "Later that day the team started doing there first job that was a task requiered them helping an old lady move some heavy furniture into a new place. The money that the lady paid them was good so it was devided among everyone fairly. Mia placed the money that night into a tin that belonged to her mother.

She worked hard to save up the money and in a matter of a few days she discovered that she had enough to replace all the windowns in her truck. A man came to replace all the widown and Mia paid him in cash. He was surpised by the cash payment but took it anyway.

Mia drove the truck to there new training ground with Bella sitting on the pasanger seat. Mia smiled as she ran to meet the rest of the team. "The truck lookes better now that the windows has been replaced," Red said.

"Yes I am happy the truck is fixed but i suspect there is a few poeple on the base that does not agree with Molly being fired," Mia siad. "What makes you think that?" Red asked.

"The fact that i walk into the dining hall and find a singel plate missing from the dishes?" Mia siad. "You count them every morning?" Red asked. "Your forgetting, i did the dishes. I know how many there needs to be?" Mia replied. "What are you going to do?" Red asked. "Well i saved up the money we have erned from all the work we did. So i was thinking of giving the money to my uncel infront of everyone. If they see me paying soemthign they might not see me as a freeloader," Mia said.

"That might work but will your uncle's take the money?" Amber asked. "I dont think so but i think its important that the base see me pulling my weight aroudn the base," Mia siad.

THat night MIa gave her uncles the money and siad, "here its not much but i want to give you something since i am stayin here for free." Kevin and Mike looked shocked at Mia and said, "we dont need the money." Mia smiled and said. "keep it, in case soemthing comes up. I dont wnat to be seen as a free loader and i dont want any more damage on the truck."
