35 An Assassin

The wind is slightly damp and cold. Wet winds like this signify that rain is coming soon. Rafael never thought the weather would turn cloudy this afternoon. It will be more challenging to aim at the target when the weather is terrible.

Rafael was reckless to walk towards his target -- at piano lessons building. I want to complete this mission as soon as possible. Rafael was carrying a backpack and wearing a black hoodie jacket. Don't forget the baseball cap that always accompanies him to hide his face.

[Who? Who else is following me?] Rafael was furious, less than an hour until the piano lessons ended and a disturbance came. Why are people still following him? Not only in the capital, even in small towns, but there are also still those who follow him.

[I feel like I'm not bothering anyone?! I don't even know the five people named Wijaya.] Rafael stopped his steps; should he stop and fight? Or dodge again and let them dig up information about him?

Rafael has a mission he must complete at this time. And there was no way he could expect Albert or Regina's help because they were in different cities. Many considerations must be taken by Rafael, the advantages and disadvantages of his strategy.

Rafael decided to follow their game. What do they want from an unidentified man like him?

"Hello, there are two people following me, G. Can you check their identity?" Raphael called Albert.

"Huh?? Again?!" Albert gasped on the other side. Why are so many people targeting Rafael lately? What's so special about this man? He didn't have any money; the only thing he could do was draw and fuck his beautiful wife —killing a human doesn't count even though it could be the main reason, of course, because of Rafael's fake identity.

"I'll distract them and run around a bend in the road. Check the street camera, G. Make sure you catch their faces this time." Asked Rafael, Albert failed to recognize the stalker's face at the station first.

"OK!! Let's do it." Albert rubbed his hands. He was trying to concentrate and start hijacking street cameras.

The image on Albert's monitor began to change with a picture highlighted by some cameras around Rafael. There were indeed two men following Rafael. One is a little chubby, and one is big tall. Both were dressed casually with short hair and dark glasses.

"They wear sunglasses, S. How could I possibly detect his identity?" Albert sighed in annoyance.

"Then help me find a way out of their pursuit. I must kill the boy today." Rafael tightened his backpack.

"Fine. I'll find a way." Albert's eyes focus on the monitor, looking for trails that Rafael could use to escape the two jerks.

"Gunner!! Hurry!!" Rafael looked at his digital clock, 30 minutes to the target.

"Albert, S!! Albert!! I have a name now." Albert spoke loud.

"Whatever, hurry up!! I'm running out of time." Raphael quickened his pace.

"Turn left." Albert gave instructions.

"Third aisle, right. Then take a left. There's a factory that just finished working hours. Just enough to slow them down. Take the bus on the 35B route, and the bus will arrive in five minutes." Albert typed quickly on the keyboard, then checked the camera with a round scroll, and he directed the movement of the camera's neck through the object.

"Okay, counting down five minutes." Rafael set the clock. He immediately jogged towards the point that Albert had told him.

The men following him were surprised that Rafael had suddenly moved quickly. With agile, they ran after Rafael. Enter the alleys like Rafael but left far behind.

"Factory, S. Two minutes." Albert pointed to the location. Rafael nodded in understanding, he quickened his pace again, but his face looked flat and relaxed.

"One minute. They're exactly 50 yards behind you. A bit slower with so many employees rushing out." Albert watches the surveillance cameras.

"40 seconds .... 30 seconds ... 20 .... 10 ... the bus is coming, S! Get on!" Albert gave the code; Rafael immediately got on as soon as the bus door opened; the two men who saw him immediately ran after Rafael. But it was too late, the bus door had closed, and the bus left the stop. Rafael glared at them.

"Almost, S!!" Albert giggled.

"Execute the target. Does this bus get off in front of the mall?" asked Rafael.

"Yes, the mall is next to the child's piano tutoring building," Albert answered. Rafael looked at his digital clock, 15 minutes to the target.

"Give him a painless death, S. He's only a 10-year-old kid," said Albert.

"You said you wouldn't use feelings?" Rafael replied to Albert's sarcasm this morning.

"I am a Father now, you know! And you are the killer." Albert laughed.

"I will give him a quick, painless death." Rafael climbed the stairs to the rooftop.

"Despite your name, which means 'angel of healing.' You are an 'angel of death." Albert giggled.

Suddenly Albert's other smartphone rang. There was a message from his ministers in that church.

_____

Text:

Father, there is a woman who wants to confess her sins.

Her name is Jasmine.

___________

"Hey, El. Jasmine came to church to confess." Albert chuckled.

"Is it true??" Rafael took out all the components of his firearm.

"Bye then, have a good job!" Albert hung up the call.

Raphael let out a long sigh. He looked at his watch, only one minute left. Raphael quickly assembled his long-barreled weapon. Then standing up, he tested the direction and wind speed with his hands.

[God helped me,] Rafael smiles. The wind is not strong; the sky is clear again.

Thirty seconds left, Rafael raised his gun. Aim towards the exit. Several guards stood guard around the door. The driver was ready to open the car door. His nanny was also waiting at the entrance.

"Sorry, son! Don't blame me; blame your destiny." Rafael aimed at his target, who had just come out of the building. 10-year-old boy. Handsome and has a radiant face.

Shoot!!

A muffled shot instantly shot out at super speed. It sped up without a hitch, headed right in the middle of the boy's head. Rafael disarms. Then hurriedly left the place—exactly thirty seconds.

Raphael came out quietly. Walking during the chaos that occurred in front of the mall because a small child had just died, was killed with a bullet lodged in his head.

Painful screams of loss immediately echoed through Rafael's ears. Rafael continued to walk without a care. His handsome face was flat. His heart didn't even budge with all the sadness.

But his steps stopped when he thought of his wife, Jasmine. What will Jasmine do when she finds out that her husband is an assassin?

How will Jasmine feel?

Was Jasmine going to cry that hysterically too?

Or even look at him with disdain and contempt?

Will Jasmine leave him?

Suddenly fear began to embrace Rafael's heart.

But he couldn't possibly erase the fact that he was indeed an assassin.
