3 My cute neighbour

As expected the welcome ceremony was insanely boring. As I was sitting in class waiting for the teacher to get here I observed the class. Everyone looked so unique and weird. there was a guy with earlobes down to his shoulders and a girl with spiky hair and a whole bunch of other abnormal looking people. At least there were a couple of normal looking people, but one stuck out to me. When I looked at her I had the same nostalgic feeling I got before. She has yellow eyes with thin slit-like irises, somewhat resembling those of a cat, and her hair is a pale, ash-blonde colour and is styled into two messy buns, with numerous wild strands sticking out, a straight fringe and two chin-length side bangs framing her face.

Before it got to the point it looked creepy, the teacher walked in gaining my attention. She was an average middle aged woman in a smart business dress. She called for the attention of the class

"attention everyone, my name is Tanaka Misaki and I will be your kyoshi. I would like everybody to introduce your name and something about yourself.

She proceeded to call on the first boy in the front row

"My name is Kobayashi Hiroto, and my quirk is I can move my earlobes however I like."

He then demonstrated by controlling his abnormally long earlobes to move in a fashion similar to a wave.

After the first introduction I zoned my self out, not caring about my classmates or interested in making friends until the girl I saw earlier introduced herself. And its good I didn't miss this as she was definitely unique even compared to my other classmates

"My name is Himiko Toga and I love the taste of blood"

She said in the most innocent way possible. But the way my classmates looked at her was like she was the devil incarnate. As I overheard a couple whispers like

"so creepy"

or

"we should stay away from her"

But the most surprising was definitely my teachers reaction. She gave a look of pure distain and disgust, like she was looking at a murderer or a villain. I thought it somewhat made sense for the kids to react like that but for an adult to look at a kid that way was seriously surprising. I guess this is what happens when villains are a normal occurrence in society.

After everyone was done introducing themselves the teacher let every one talk to each other and familiarise ourselves with our classmates. I just rested my head on my desk not bothering to talk to my classmates and making it clear I wasn't interested in making friends. As I lay my head on the desk I saw everyone ignore Himiko who was clearly trying to talk to them. It got to the point where I felt so bad watching the little girl sit back down at her desk with tears welling up in her eyes that I got up to talk to her. Also partly because of the weird feeling I got when I first saw her.

"Hi I'm Ikari Ryo do you want to be friends with me"

I said in an awkward tone not really knowing how to talk to kids my age. unexpectedly I got a rather enthusiastic reply

"YES, *cough* I mean okay sure, My name is Himiko Toga, id love to be friends with you"

She shouted before coughing and speaking embarrassedly with a blush growing on her face.

'cute'

I thought before shaking my head to clear my thoughts then replying back with a question id been curious to ask

"you said you like the taste of blood, does that have something to do with your quirk

She put on a thinking pose before responding with

"I'm not sure but I do need blood for my quirk to work, its called transform, I can shape-shift into another person's appearance after consuming some of their blood. What about your quirk"

She asked in a curious tone. Which I responded in a hushed whisper

"don't tell anyone but my quirk is I can control strings"

I said this to try and get her to trust me more as I had an urge to get closer to her. Not that I actually cared if my quirk was kept secret or not. This whole day was surprising, first I saw first had how people are treated if they show villainistic tendencies even as a child, and secondly I found someone who gives me the same nostalgic feeling and an urge to protect her.

As we continued to talk I failed to notice the looks my other classmates were now giving me now, but even if I did see them I wouldn't care.

The first day of school was coming to an end and me and Toga were walking out of school together. That's right we are on a first name basis. Turns out she was really lonely and even her family distance themselves from her as much as possible without seeming to others as horrible parents.

In the distance I see my Grandmother and I run over pulling Toga along to introduce her. Shocking my Grandmother as she had thought I was incapable of making friends.

'Jokes on you obaasan I'm completely capable of making friends.'

As I said goodbye to Toga and was about to get into the car I noticed that she was walking away from school on her own. Getting worried I called out to her to ask how she was getting home

"oh, I'm walking home. My parents are too busy to pick me up"

I noticed the sadness in her tone as she mentioned her parents, and again got annoyed that someone could treat an innocent kid like this no less her own parents. I turned to my Grandmother and asked in the most cute voice I could muster

"Can we please take her home, pretty please"

She looked at me before smiling, thinking what a good Grandchild she has (probably), before agreeing and asking were she lives. Funnily enough she lives only a couple of houses down on our street. Exciting both of us at the prospect of being neighbours.
